There ya go! The test run went a bit weird due to what I think is a messed-up ten-slots mod, corrupted in a recent HDD defrag, but the gun works. Video to follow.

Do you plan to make a version of this that has the default 50 bullets per magazine? I just want a replacement for the Mac-10 with vanilla stats, nothing more.

Badly-designed (default) reload animation. The G3 (big, black sniper rifle) has the same design, the same animation and the same problem. I tried to combine this script with arby26's better animation to eliminate that issue, but it caused all sorts of problems.

Can i run this tgt with your other mp5 mod that replaces the uzi so that both the m10 and uzi is replaced by mp5?

No. Bill's favourite is the M16, as issued to soldiers in Vietnam in the 1960s (although that would have been the M16A1 and the one in the game is marked M16A2 on the magazine housing, so ought to only fire three rounds per pull of the trigger, not full auto). The Ingram M10 aka MAC10 is a 9x19mm or .45 ACP machine pistol meant to be concealable for use in close-quarters assassination. It's got almost twice the M16's rate of fire, but it's not a precision tool. You're supposed to get close enough to be splashed by the blood then spray and pray.

Left-handed M10 is what you used to get if you connected to a server that didn't have this mod. Maybe they've changed the way things work and it doesn't do that any more.

I just moved my copy back into use and went through Dead Center with it on Single Player mode, and it worked fine. You may have a bad copy. Steam files used to get corrupted on this computer a lot until I swapped out one of the RAM boards.

A friend has this mod on dropbox. I don't know dropbox but I think it's public:

Put that into this location:

Doesn't work for me, also, the viewmodel doesn't flip to the left. And there are no conflicting addons, or addons that are used for the M10 either.

Just tested in single-player. For once, didn't set sv_consistency 0 to play it, and didn't get booted to main menu for consistency in 'weapon_gnome.txt' on my own server. *shrug* Don't know why that was happening. Anyway, it worked.

First thing I'd suggest checking is clashing mods. If you have another mod that also affects the M10, e.g. the P90 model swap or the Rufioh Nitram mix, L4D2 will de-activate both. You need to de-activate any other M10 mods then activate this one in the add-ons menu.

The problem there is that if it was ignoring this mod, you shouldn't get the icon flicker and hand-swap. Playing with mods like this in place on a public server, I get the changed icon, the hand-swap on the M10 and the unswapped models on the M16 and SCAR, flickering to the swapped ones while firing. What you describe sounds like the server has another version running.

Are you trying this straight from start-up or playing without the mod first?

dude, fix the bug. when i pickup the silenced gun, the position of the gun is changed from right to left and the icon keeps bugging out. please try to look into the matter

@ven: I just subscribed to this and checked it out and it works here, so I'm not sure what's different. That left-handed thing happens if you have the mod and the server doesn't, but in single player mode you *are* the server, so it shouldn't ...

Arby26 has a model & animation mod that replaces the Uzi model with an improved MP5, so ideally he'd build a version of it that applies this script to the Uzi too. I tried, but got Invisible Weapon Syndrome.

Great mod, my only gripe is that whenever you reload the walking animation glitches to where the gun does move as I walk, all I have to do to fix it is switch weapons. Great mod I could care less about that glitch/bug, just thought I would let you know. Great mod!

you actualy dont have to get this mod you can get the MP5 in the console but it wont do damage so you have to re-enter the mao you are in and then type give smg mp5

iDerp: first explanation that comes to mind is that you're sometimes playing on a modded server that has the mod.

L4D2 is a bit weird about enabling or disabling mods between games. It tends to remember the weapon set that was loaded in the first game you played. If my shotgun reticle's still "tight" but I'm playing with default weapons, it's hard to know how far away from team-mates to aim. Testing mods involves hearing that "DUMMM-dum-dum" Steam logo sound a LOT because I have to keep quitting and relaunching.

Options => Keyboard/Mouse => Allow Developer Console

Make sure that's "Enabled"

Click "PLAY CAMPAIGN" then "Play Online" the "MORE SEARCH OPTIONS" and choose campaign and difficulty then click "CREATE A NEW LOBBY" to get a lobby you control.

or

Click "PLAY CAMPAIGN" then "Play With Friends" and "CREATE NEW CAMPAIGN LOBBY" then choose settings and click "CREATE LOBBY" to achieve the same thing with it set friends-only.

In the lobby, you have a button for "EDIT GAME SETTINGS" and this brings up options for campaign, chapter, difficulty and server type. Click on "SERVER TYPE" and choose "Local Server" to host the game yourself.

Press your console button. It's probably the one to the left of the 1 key, being ` or ~, depending on your keyboard. That brings up the developer console. Type in:

sv_con

As you type, a list of things you may mean will appear below where you're typing, and get shorter. Once it's down to "sv_consistency 1" press the down arrow, the space bar, the 0 key and Enter. Alternatively, type in

sv_consistency 0

... by hand and press Enter.

That'll allow people whose weapon scripts don't match the server's scripts to play on your server. Close the console the same way as you opened it, and start the game.

Legomaster: Good idea, but ...

This is a gap-filler for my weapon set mod, which already includes this as an MP5 mod. It's not available to people playing the standard version of the game, which is why I made this optional extra. If I include an MP5 mod with this M10 mod, the two addons will clash, and neither will be applied. If you're using that set mod, already have the MP5 available and want all three SMGs in-game, I'd suggest one of the other two M10 mods, either 9mm or .45 variant, rather than this.

If you're not combining this with the weapon set mod, then your MP5 will be a default MP5 with a 50-rd magazine and 24 damage and your M10 will be my MP5 with a 30-rd magazine and 48 damage, so you get two *slightly* different guns after all.

I could make another mod to turn the MP5 into a version of the M10, but ... I don't really see the point of swapping the two over. You'd get the same guns in different places.

It replaces the model with the MP5 model and changes the stats to a modified set with real-world magazine size, real-world rate of fire and slightly more damage than the 9mm pistol (same ammo through a longer barrel, after all). Does it replace it as a model but keeps the M10 stats or does it take the M10's place and use the MP5's stats?
