Spartans are Greek, but they didn't look nothing like the soldiers in Athens. They are not "literally the same thing", Spartans didn't have boats until they made a deal, then they started training with them. Spartans didn't have archers, they only fought in brute force, and would circle around their enemies and then trap them, great example, the battle of Thermopile with the well known 300 Spartans.
Spartans are nothing like any other Greek soldier, get that in your head.
