Additional note; I also recently found out using mipmaps for Dot-DDS icons can cause blurred images for people who play on lower graphics settings below "High", for me, every golden symbol (except of the Papal cross keys with tiara) as I played with "Low" settings. Thought I should throw that out there as I hear mipmaps otherwise increases the quality, but completely dies when on anything lower than "High" graphics, not really a must fix but wanted to give you the knowledge in the case you were unaware.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the tip! I've updated the mod for 3.5. The hair issue should be fixed now, as well as the warnings about the mod being out of date. I've also fixed sequential names for ships and armies and made some grammatical improvements to the name lists.
Let me know if you're still experiencing any issues!

It was working fine on 3.4 Cepheus before the update, but we on 3.5 Fornax. The devs broke a lot of mods especially the old portrait mods that were never updated.
Please check to see if your error persists. (You may need to unsubscribe from the mod and subscribe / install it again)
I'm currently looking into how to fix it for 3.
Yes, I have a lot of mods installed, including the Elves of Stellaris.
I'll try installing it again and look for that "manage playset" you mentioned. I'll also add you as friend on Steam anyway.
BTW, in real life, I am a Traditional Catholic. Salute!
I just tried unsubbing and resubbing on the latest version, and I was able to get the faction to appear (somewhat lower down on the list).
Does the mod work at all for you? For example, are you able to create your own civ with these portraits? Or does the content for the mod not appear at all?
Also, have you clicked "manage playset" and activated the mod, as well as selected that playset in the launcher? If you've done all those things and it still doesn't work, feel free to add me as a friend on Steam and I can try and see if I can help. Do you have any other mods installed?
I've tried unsubscribing, then subscribing again but that didn't work. They still don't show up.
I'd appreciate any help in fixing this problem so I can play them. Thank you for any help you can provide.
willrobwhit, I was not able to reproduce your bug. Check the description of this mod and make sure you have the latest "soft requirements" for this mod and try running it again without any other mods installed. Let me know if you're still getting it.
