For Scarce Resource, it says it only works on vanilla planets. Even if it was once a vanilla planet, it's been changed and hasn't been updated in a long time.
I think it's because the individual mods are so old; they haven't been updated in a while. Keen also has a habit of changing settings and values without announcing it.
Take, for example, the setting for the inertia tensor for rotors, etc. You now have to enable it separately in the settings when setting up a new game. But Keen hasn't mentioned this anywhere...

And with Scarce Resources https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=831739660&searchtext=terra+scarce
and your patch for scarce https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1894288014&searchtext=terra+scarce
cant get it to work. Any ideas on load order or issues?
It needs to be loaded after, so it takes higher priority than the original Scarce Resources in order to overwrite its planet definition.
I don't quite remember which direction SE loads mods in, but I THINK it's top-down for the world editor, and bottom-up for dedicated server, but that could have changed; I haven't played SE in a couple years at this point.
"Unlike my other Scarce Resources patch, this mod requires it, otherwise only the direct changes to planets from Scarce Resources will be applied. This must also be higher in the load order than it, in order for the Deep Ores changes to be applied."
We have found ores (cobalt, magnesium) on Pertam in places where they should not be according to specifications.
I started on Triton and found iron, silicon, nickel and magnesium all at a maximum depth of 30 meters.
I thought you only find magnesium ore deposits here and then only from 100 meters or more.
Or am I confusing something???
You need a new mod to merge the ore generation.
Just note that the Ship Trading mod has been changed so it requires Scarce Resources now, as well, because I removed the duplicate content.
Thank you very very much for doing this!
I checked on Petram, and found some Iron quite deep in to the surface, with quite a lot of ore, so it seems to be working!
Hopefully, this will be the final day of waiting, and tomorrow will FINALLY bring the update!
(i dont know anything about SE modding so i dont know how this may or may not apply)
I might just say screw it and do my own version, based on what are hopefully reasonable depths for the ores.
Thank you so much for maintaining this!
Yeah, this addon's a bit outdated, and doesn't include Petram (Because it didn't exist when this was last updated).
I'll take a look at updating it in a few hours, worst case tomorrow.
So I tried reversing the load order to no avail,
immedeatly found stuff at < 30m depth.
All of my trials (now and previous) were on fresh worlds, Star System Scenario and tested on Pertram.
Thanks for helping!
If voxels have been edited in the area (From drilling, impacts, or explosions), a certain area around the site will be saved to disk, instead of regenerating from the given parameters.
Otherwise, maybe try the load order the opposite way around? Maybe Keen reversed it, for whatever reason.
If that still fails, then I'll take a look at the files and see if anything needs updating.
i just tested it, being specific about putting it above Scarce Resources:
https://prnt.sc/179xxan
https://prnt.sc/179y9jd
https://prnt.sc/179ynip
(lets hope the links work)
It did not work as expected - i either dont know where to properly put in load order, or misread the depths of the deposits.
I hope this helps, Thanks!
The only exception was, and I believe still is, a Dedicated Server, where the order is reversed.
The Mod seems to be broken currently, as i can find resources at less then 30m below ground, and also deposit size does not seem to be affected. It is definetly before Scare Resources in the load order. Is there anything i can do to fix this?
Thanks!
I have no clue about that plugin, though, because I've never used it.
My understanding is that it just spawns asteroids and the pre-made planets around, so it shouldn't be any different.
Trying to load Deep Ores with it will cause problems,or at least be pointless.
For the load order, in your world's mod management menu, it must be above Scarce Resources.
If using a dedicated server, it should be below, because I believe the load order is still flipped compared to the world settings.
thanks for this one, however I am a bit confused. Could you clarify:
1) Which other MOD does this one require? The DeepOres one or the Scarce Resources one?
2) What is the exact order? This one to laod first or the other?
Thanks!
I don't know if this mod is up-to-date, though.
If you don't install Scarce Resources alongside this mod, you'll only get the planet changes.
However, I don't know if it will be automatically loaded due to it being a requirement.
I'll test it now. :D
I wasn't aware anyone was using this, so let me know how it goes!
