the lasers are stupid. also that big tower of metal rods and boxes is an osha violation, the fine is 1 trillion pons.

Great level with moderate difficulty, with some harder segments. A bit long, but still enjoyable (IMO the workshop doesnt have enough quality stealth levels)

true honestly

The hidden family guy reference should make this require as a headphones warning cause it is way too loud.
cooldragon1990 30 Jul, 2023 @ 9:19am
I played and enjoyed a few of your other mods though so at the very least it doesn't turn me away all that much... just a bit too ambitious and unfriendly to cheating... I would have liked to actually play through it and I don't subtract points or enjoyment if I end up cheating.
Werti100  [author] 30 Jul, 2023 @ 9:11am
yeah this level demands a lot from its player
cooldragon1990 30 Jul, 2023 @ 9:06am
Couldn't even finish it... even with infinite jump, god mode or anything.. the lasers are just too mean... I wasn't prepared for Super Meat Boy type super platforming. About the time I hit 2 switches and had to jump over lasers that I kept hitting... too strict. It would have been better if you respawned after doing the switches but after doing it many attempts, this was way too hard even to cheat. A good mod with good ideas brought down by incredibly high skill gateways that I just can't do
Werti100  [author] 7 Jul, 2023 @ 7:51am
wow really?! that's awesome! Mirrors edge is a really cool series and played a big part in my childhood
Tenebris 7 Jul, 2023 @ 5:53am
This mod introduce me into Mirror's Edge. Thanks to author for this
Werti100  [author] 16 Jan, 2023 @ 6:34am
yeah it's a very different mod than the usual level, and is janky in many ways. inevitable side effect of being my true first mod. This mod is nearing 6 years old which is insanity
Danero 15 Jan, 2023 @ 11:25pm
I was having serious issues with the third pipe in the apple section, but I somehow cleared that section by throwing the apple just right and while using the time stop hat. I almost gave up at the slow moving platform section of the laser section (jank in so many ways it's not funny), and I did give up at the ascent above the facility (this level was already the length of 2 or more normal levels, and I could not see the top). I was confused while playing this many times, and it is insanely long with almost no collectibles in it at all. I don't think it's a bad mod, but I did not enjoy playing it and I will not be back to finish it. Also, lore-wise, I see no reason why the ascent above the building would even be remotely necessary.
Solace 17 Dec, 2022 @ 8:12pm
The cloud scenery and bgm is epic! Also moderate difficulty and interesting storyline. Could be better if there were more Heart Pons (especially in laser stages).

kendricket 15 May, 2022 @ 12:48pm
I HATE THIS MOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Werti100  [author] 22 Sep, 2021 @ 5:04pm
awwww thank you so much! It's always nice to read someone's thoughts on your mods. I agree with you, I think this mod is old and rusty, but despite that, the general ideas are still very good and enjoyable, once you get past the somewhat overly challenging parts of it, it has a lot of charm!
Bucketato 22 Sep, 2021 @ 2:53pm
I bloody knew it!
Now, for actual critique, though...
I get the most things about this one. It is extremely challenging. Personally, the most "frustrating" part about this whole level was probably the laser grid above the vault, since it really required EXTREMELY accurate movements.
Other than that one bit, however, the challenges of this mod have one thing in common... they are forgiving. The setbacks aren't as huge, as they could be in some other cases or mods, I've seen, and the general pacing actually seems like an infiltration mission (within the context of AHiT, of course).
What I absolutely adore, however, are the little tidbits with the Subcon Dwellers. Those little dialogues showed, someone put their heart in this... and that's always something, I can appreciate ;)
Werti100  [author] 7 Sep, 2021 @ 6:24am
yep mirrors edge
Bucketato 6 Sep, 2021 @ 3:56pm
This might just be me, wondering, but... the music during the last segment of Part 2... was that from Mirror's Edge, perhaps? Because I was half expecting Either Dogen, Mercury or Noah to talk to me on radio any second ^^
JDWMGB 9 May, 2021 @ 8:17am
nvm figured out what was causing it
JDWMGB 9 May, 2021 @ 7:49am
this might just be something acting up with my game but it seems to like to stutter badly in act 2 for some reason, no clue why as I played it ages ago before DLC2 and didn't experience that
PeabodySam 20 Feb, 2021 @ 7:02am
I actually did notice the ladder and tried multiple times to do that exact jump you described. Unfortunately, I could never quite get the precise angle to grab the ladder; whenever I did make contact with the ladder, Hat Kid would not start climbing and instead just pass through. I think the issue was the camera angle; when Hat Kit would jump once on the wall, the camera would face away from the ladder, making it difficult to see where I was supposed to go after walljumping.
Werti100  [author] 19 Feb, 2021 @ 10:00pm
thanks!

You failed that jump because the intended solution is to jump once on the wall, then double jump back to the ladder you see hanging from the edge in your picture. I don't blame you for missing it though, it's rather hidden, with no pons too
PeabodySam 19 Feb, 2021 @ 3:49pm
I fought this level to be thoroughly enjoyable... up until the final part with the construction site. One particular jump brought it to a screeching halt; no matter how I tried, I simply could not get Hat Kid to jump/wallclimb high enough to reach the ledge. I ended up needing to cheese some of the level geometry in order to skip the jump altogether.

But other than that, like I said, this was a very enjoyable level. It offered some fair challenge as well as some funny dialogue (especially the part with the lock and its 19-digit code). Well done!
KitsuneChara 12 Feb, 2021 @ 7:50pm
:steamsalty: Whoo boy, what a tough level. Between some of the VERY precise platforming and the last part taking place really high up, my palms were sweating for most of the level and those F*CKING. CHASE. CROWS. Now that I've completed this one I am NEVER playing it again.

Would NOT recommend for inexperienced players, not only is this kind of a marathon level but you really need a lot of patience and precise jumping for all those laser segments.

Other than that, well, could have used more plot I guess. C.A.W. baiting you with a timepiece and capturing you was pretty neat, as were the Dweller NPCs but some dialogue from the crows as you snuck through the base would have improved things.

I suppose it did feel a bit clunky in some parts but I did lower my standards since this is an older mod.

Overall, a hard level to enjoy because there wasn't enough fun to engage me and too much tricky platforming that made me start over and broke my immersion. Two out of five stars.
Werti100  [author] 3 Jan, 2021 @ 8:30pm
I agree. It's an old janky mod. I still believe that this mod has a lot of great things too and nice ideas. The projectile badge being used for something is nice, The water pipe segment in the cave, The ending chase segment, the giant construction site climb, the zipline away segment. This mod holds a special place in my heart. I understand your frustrations though
hwh6k 3 Jan, 2021 @ 8:07pm
Good concept, bad execution. Trying to turn AHIT into a pixel perfect 2D platformer doesn't really work when the game engine has a habit of having your character randomly grab at the not-2D front/back walls -- making it feel less like a platformer, and more like pure RNG. What's frustrating is that you can see the bones of a fun idea in the laser section, but everything about it is just glitchy or broken. (Get too close to the edge of a platform, and you die from ... invisible lasers? There's also invisible collision in the mid-air of one dive that you have to avoid. And also all the other bugs noted in the comments, plus bonus nonsense with the vents.)

Given that the level is (probably) never getting fixed or re-tuned, watching a playthrough on YouTube is the best way to experience it, if you're still curious.
Pastel_crep 30 Dec, 2020 @ 4:57pm
I keep hitting the chain with the projectile badge, but it's not working.
FierceThundr_ 9 Dec, 2020 @ 2:04am
Honestly feels like it should be a real part of the game. (With some minor changes of course)
Russilver 14 Nov, 2020 @ 9:58am
i have a glitch on my PC in which if i have too many mods it makes my game lag so i want to delete this one as i have played it but it doesn't let me. please may you tell me how to delete it in game or by looking through the files.
Werti100  [author] 15 Sep, 2020 @ 4:50pm
you're welcome, glad you enjoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sobaka_ua 15 Sep, 2020 @ 4:10pm
This is one of the best maps for A Hat In Time! It's HUGE and it covers different genres: stealth, timed puzzles, intense platforming. Save points are placed nicely (mostly), the story is simple and straightforward. I love that badge usage, quite a clever move! And that mafia guy... oof. Thank you, Werti100, for making this!
Werti100  [author] 15 Aug, 2020 @ 8:48am
I'll agree with some of the gameplay weirdness or buggyness, it is an old mod after all. Though regarding the puzzles I'm still happy with those, even if it's obscure I'm glad I made a map that explored a more puzzle intensive design that requires thinking outside of the usual that you get. If you didn't enjoy those then this mod probably wasn't for you.

If you want something that's more straight forward I'd recommend festival of horrors, operation: re-rail, Cyclone Seafort, Sand Palace.
Hellsan Comics 15 Aug, 2020 @ 7:43am
ooooh i really hated this one, the escape part is so fucking buggy with the camera and get to an almost unplayable state when the beams are involved... also it requires you to use a fucking badge that you have no need for in literally any other level ever made, why the fuck do you need the mega beam of all fucking things? so dumb
i get you tried with this and effort is there... just sorta put that effort in the wrong areas
Werti100  [author] 4 Aug, 2020 @ 8:05am
quick load time should be because the map isn't very detailed visually and doesn't use many assets. Thank you for the nice comment! I appreciate the steam points :)
voltrantwo 3 Aug, 2020 @ 11:32pm
I suppose I should add that, unlike most mods, this one loads in and out very quickly. I know very little of the behind the scenes of games and mods, but given the shear size of this level, I can only assume it is put together very well.
voltrantwo 3 Aug, 2020 @ 11:29pm
While it isn't flawless, and it does go on a bit too long in certain areas, overall it is the cleanest and best put-together mod I've played. It really feels like an official DLC with the amount of detail and variation in aspects of each level.

My main issues were the wall-climbing in the laser room and the unforgiving rooftop-platforming area, but besides that, I loved this. I would have liked a bit "more" at the end, however I'm not too sure what would wrap it up nicely.

I'm not too sure how steam points work, but I figured you deserve some awards for this gem.

I really enjoyed the map. but I fell in love with the music in act 2 where you climb up to escape. is it made by you and if not where is it from?
Fred the ~baguette 17 May, 2020 @ 12:35pm
amazing map, best one I've played so far. Great job! :D

Werti100  [author] 7 May, 2020 @ 9:21pm
play "festival of horrors" if you want something casual and fun, you'll love it, money back guaranteed
Werti100  [author] 7 May, 2020 @ 9:18pm
ya bro I made this two years ago, check my newer stuff.
Crankey 7 May, 2020 @ 8:22pm
Thumbs down all the way. Just as you thought it was over it kept going. Not very intuitive either. The laser section was triggering as you have no control over the camera and hat kid tends to climb walls in this game; the maze clearly wasn't made for that shit. Bottom of the line, I just wanted to get out for about 20 minutes straight. If you consider making another level substantially shorten it and it will be 10x better. But this is straight garbage.
