I agree, being able to manage the research and access to vanilla and modded blocks would add so much.

This is something I have always wanted in Space Engineers. A research system is a perfect progression system. I just wish it could be more integrated

There's a easy workaround for that - give faction leaders some specific block at base (i.e. letter) that is forbidden to create by anyone, but grinding it unlock faction's starting tech on which the faction's tree depends on. That goes for any faction member, as long someone doesn't grind it down fully :)

Can you make varying tech trees for different factions? Im working on a survival MP PvP scenario that would be great to have it, forcing the factions to use different methods with different tech.

Although, the world is not up-to-date to my latest research tree and requires quite a lot of work. But you can see where and how files should be arranged. Also note that it works in offline, private or public mode, but not on dedicated server.

The tech tree is considered beta and work-in-progress, as I have put a lot of thought into and balanced it, but not yet fully played through. Also, I am looking to publish it on the steam workshop via "EqResearch_ trick".

The tech tree also implies presence of several mods, although they are optional (skipped if not present). For any meaningful playability I suggest to have at least scarce resources, atmospheric flight, concrete and hunting mod. GitHub works better for getting me to actually solve the issue. I'll try and look at it sometime this week, it worked when I first made the mod.

Today I started a new modded world with aux_research.xml copied from your reference example. Medical Room didn't show up in G-menu as expected, so far so good.

Then I switch to creative, paste into some blueprint that has Medical Room in it, and switch back to survival mode. After grinding down Medical Room I realized that my inventory can't hold 10 Medical components. Exit world, edit aux_research.xml from 10 down to 2 components, and start world again. After grinding and welding back Medical station components are not consumed, and Medical Room doesn't show up in G-menu. Can't see anything in logs either, only that research has initiated and recognized my player. Exited world again, tried editing and commenting out various requirements for Medical Room in aux_research.xml but no success.

I really like the idea and would like to help this to work (as well easy to configure and debug). But how to proceed?

All the documentation is the stuff I've listed above. As far as I know the mod itself still works.
