I think it'd be good to increase Dreadwing's line of sight too. In vanilla, you can just press Ctrl to get a free shot in with a powerful, long-range weapon, and in my experience, sometimes when he goes over to the right of the arena, you have to go and get him, he doesn't come back on his own.

Can you make a tweak to the Ruin/Heart of Ruin/ the final boss?
Since most of the people say that it has a large health but that's all, could you speed up it's attacks a bit (or a lot)?

Does this mix well with FU? Just asking.

I have not been giving this mod too much attention, but I decided that I should probably come around and finish it up. I battled the Swansong for the first time tonight and got half way through it. During my second attempt the game crashed and closed (annoying.)

Honestly, the battle is not all that bad, the only problem I find is that the minions that are summoned only drop energy tanks less than half of the time. I will probably only need to up the drop rate of energy tanks on those minions and the whole thing will be much better.

1- Asra follows a certain pattern. The attacks are not random, so I guess that the moves are not as easily customisable. Otherwise, I'm guessing her upgrade is that she'll do the Morph Ball strike less often in order to keep the forcefield up.

2-The Big Ape boss has a similar AI, but can be predicted by the two monitors (Not like anyone even pays attention to them), so removing them would increase difficulty.

3-Ruin- It's already the hardest boss with Vanilla weapons, I guess make the laser blast instakill and there.

4- Swansong- I used lots of mods in order to beat it, I pretty much raged.

will there be an update to the Swansong?

Do you think you can add an improvement for the Vault Guardians to be able to attack even when I'm attacking them? When I fight them they just sit there and let me whack them if I'm hitting them, they keep cancelling their attacks as I'm hitting them. They're only able to attack if I refrain from attacking them. I'd like to be able to get some real challenging battles from the vault guardians, but they don't put up a fight if you're attacking them.

i was hoping difficulty increasement on Asra Knox, The Ruin, and Bone Dragon, cuz the last two are way to easy, and Asra Knox has such a predictable attack pattern making her fight so trivial that i just wish i could skip them...

could you make vault guardians drop additional loot like random weapons or furniture?

What are the elemental weaknesses of shockhopper?

With the change the first boss would be great.
Cause now I can use the mining laser once before it even has a chance to even start up.
Cause as it stands you can hit all four switches then head to the laser to begin the battle with only having to do it two more times.
This will force you to start the battle, as I think, the devs wanted it to be.

When I say "line of sight" I am referring to how far the monster can see. The problem originally was that the Erchius Horror could not see players who stayed close too the walls because the player was not within this line of sight. The Mod makes it so that the Erchius Horror can a little further thus negating the possibility of throwing a few levers before the battle actually starts.
Lady Rosie 4 Feb, 2018 @ 1:02pm
question. what do you mean line of sight? never heard of the erchius having a line of sight. only lazers
Sparklink  [author] 18 Jan, 2018 @ 12:56pm
@Xaliber. The Shockhopper's level has been difficult to keep track of over the years and development phases of Starbound, but at this current moment I think it is only a Tier 4 enemy. I did all of my boss testing with durasteel guns and weapons. With a grapple hook I avoided the flame thrower and the missiles were dodged with some skill. The old Overload attack was a little too tight to dodge, the update makes the player cautious of it exploding if they got too close.

The thing that kept that Shockhopper difficult was that it was really tricky to dodge that attack.

Interesting mod, I love the idea! Thanks for making the mod. One thing though, Shockhopper MK II becomes fairly... easy? As you said, it's possible to defeat him with no tech at all, and I even only need tier 3 guns. Would it be possible in some way to put a bit more challenge?

I have posted an update that fixes the sight problems. I need some more time to experiment with the lag causing lasers.
Kordharin 13 Jan, 2018 @ 8:46am
Yeah, making the Erchius Horror battle begin as soon as you're in the room would be a way to get at those with a more... stealthy... playstyle (Like me! I'll work around it).

Performance issues might only be for the graphics and (maybe) the damage calculations.

@JUGG|M.P.R.F|Nova.

Ah so you mean that you are already playing with the monocrome lighting. It was not a question of weather you knew about the feature or not but if you are using it. And do not worry, it is okay to let me know that you have been using it.
Kirubelle 10 Jan, 2018 @ 5:11pm

Not to seem ruse, but I had known about all that, since the update came out so not very helpful.

@JUGG|M.P.R.F|Nova.
I remember having a problem similar to yours back when I was using a less powerful computer. The game would lag as the boss shot its lasers. The game would have difficulty keeping up with how much damage you should be taking, and you would end up taking a huge amount of damage. I will look into ways of optimizing that battle as I experiment with the sight problem. Two things I can suggest you do for now is:

1. Turn on monocrome lighting (games with colorful lighting are a big preformance hit, and having those bright purple lasers flashing through the dark is going to break some computers.)

2. It may help if you turn off the sound effects in the game options (each of those four lasers are making a loud buzzing noise, I think they also make noise when they come into contact with blocks)
Sparklink  [author] 9 Jan, 2018 @ 8:40am
(I have been a little out of the loop for a time, but I should be a little more active now.)

I might be able to stop this ability to cheat by simply by increaseing the boss' field of veiw by a handful of blocks. Of corse the Erchius Horror is different than most bosses so I may have to do something more complicated.
Kordharin 29 Dec, 2017 @ 4:16pm
@End137 Oh, I've done that! I also abuse the control button, which shifts the screen in the direction of the cursor.

This mod does look interesting, though.
Kirubelle 14 Dec, 2017 @ 12:28pm
erchius crystal tweak? i usually find the erchius crystall to be too hard as his attacks CAN instantly kill you if you are not prepared and sometimes the attacks freeze my game (not sure if anyone else has this problem) so maybe a shorter attack that can instakill you if you arent arefull?
(End137) 13 Dec, 2017 @ 11:52am
I can record me doing it, lemme do that real fast.
Sparklink  [author] 12 Dec, 2017 @ 6:15pm
@End 137 That sounds a little difficult to actually pull off but I will investigate it.
(End137) 12 Dec, 2017 @ 6:08pm
also, if you stay at the very edge of the boss room on coming in, you can turn on the switches without activating the boss and then run in and get a free hit.
Sparklink  [author] 12 Dec, 2017 @ 10:47am
@Shadestyle and @End137 It seems like the Erchius Horror Boss already resets the battle field when you die. It also starts a phase one all over again. It seems like it does some times fails to reset properly when you die, but I can not determine what exactly why. I hate to say this but; this infrequent error seems to be only something the developers could fix.
Shadestyle 12 Dec, 2017 @ 10:21am
That sounds like another thing that should be altered, reguardless of my initial comment.
(End137) 12 Dec, 2017 @ 9:16am
you can completely skip the first phase regardless Shadestyle
Shadestyle 11 Dec, 2017 @ 9:33pm
Is there a way to reset the switches of the Erichus Horror Boss fight on death? Currently, if you die during the boss, the switches you flipped before dying remain in their current position, cheapening the difficulty of the fight's first phases.
