Oct 2020 Update: Building Themes by District and my Christmas Village building theme (mod) are no longer required, but can be used if you want the same look in new areas. New Snowy Slopes Map Theme added.

Well done!

164 subscriptions... you should see other save games out there :D
I have a tip for you: check out Loading Screen Mod and especially the section about "skipping prefabs". You can make the game skip loading all the vanilla buildings that most of us don't like, saving you a ton of RAM so you can add custom stuff.

so many dependencies holy shit...

Hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy building :chirp:

Hi there, I don't know if we can actually save an icon onto a savegame, because it save it takes a shot of the current view every time you hit save. If you know a way to do this, you're more than welcome to save my icon image and use it :)
AussieGamerz 3 Oct, 2018 @ 2:05pm
thanks miyagi, will look for that mod. i can load most of your other maps, love your designs, will try christmas village again at some stage.
MrMiyagi  [author] 3 Oct, 2018 @ 9:32am
Aww that sucks. Sorry about that. It definitely sounds like you're exceeding some sort of spec, so if you try Loading Screen Mod you will be able to see if you're exceeding your computer's ability or the mod or asset that's the trouble maker.
A good tip: always completely quit Cities before loading up a save game again. It doesn't sound like your problem but thought I'd just pass that tidbit on :)
AussieGamerz 25 Sep, 2018 @ 2:53am
wish i could continue with the map but it refuses to load for me, gets to 3/4 the way loading then goes nowhere and removing mods etc doesn't help. was looking forward to seeing it
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Apr, 2018 @ 1:59pm
Thank you for the list! I just love those pubs! :D I highly recommend NOT to use the allotment props like allotment beanpole, allotment rows of salad - very poorly optimized. The effect of a missing props is nothing, but the effect of having a poorly optimized prop with a zillion triangles is significant.
Hey, that reminds me. *Get Mesh Info mod*. It's a life saver just as Loading Screen is... it identifies which props, buildings etc are poorly optimized so your game runs as intended. There are a LOT of really, really bad items out on the workshop, especially vehicles with 16K triangles
minero 9 Apr, 2018 @ 12:57pm
The missing props: Air ducts 1, Air ducts 2, Air ducts 3, Forklift Prop, Medium chimney/vent, Rooftop Hvac System A, Small ac/vent, Small chimney/vent, Leafy Street Tree. Low Poly, Trimmed Green Bush, Garden Fence (grey/alt), Satellite Dish, Satellite Dish – White, TV Aerial – Medium, TV Aerial – Small, UK Wheelie Bin – Black, UK Wheelie Bin – Blue Lid, UK House Alarm – Yale, allotment – beanpole, allotment – rows of salad, UK Housing Props: Rotary Washing Line, Shed 1, Small toolshed.

Most of these are associated with Aluminium MRF, various UK Pubs, and half-timbered houses.

And I have to add that the way you combined seemingly unrelated assets into your village was an eye-opener for me. I never would have thought of using those pubs or those medieval assets. This will make my city building much better, I think.
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Apr, 2018 @ 8:00am
Yep, Not So Unique Buildings is another that won't stop this city from operating correctly, but it sure is a neat mod! All BloodyPenguin mods are great, and he also fixes anything that's broken after each game update very, very fast.
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Apr, 2018 @ 7:57am
About Loading Screen Mod, I don't have it as a requirement since it does have the potential to break during updates. The LSM modder does work on it during updates, so that's good news. Last update, players were unable to start their cities until it was updated. It was only a short time, but in the interests of future use of this city save, I made sure I wasn't using it when I saved it for that reason. LSM is also not necessary, but It's perfectly fine and very helpful to use it as you have discovered.
Thanks for all the help on this!!!, and let me know how you like the city! :) :chirp:
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Apr, 2018 @ 7:56am
re: Random Tree Rotation, it does get confusing once time passes and changes like that happen :D I do remember this case, though. The original Random Tree Rotation by boformer was updated again, and it is the best to use at this moment. I think there might still be an issue in the interim one made by another user. There is another issue that can cause flickering tree / tree shadows, so if that is occurring for you I'll ask what it is, since I forget ATM :D.
If in the future an update breaks Random Tree Rotation (or any other mods used in this city save), it will be safe to run this city without any of the mods. Building Themes by District mod would result in some undesirable things like the loss of the Half Timbered high density buildings to vanilla levels 4 and 5, but there are several other building control mods and now new cool buildings by Titan to consider using.
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Apr, 2018 @ 7:46am
Hiya! Vehicle Effects mod (like all the mods I choose) is safe to turn on or off, or in this case, to not have to download to play this city. However, you will love what it does in this city! The steam engine sound and smoke is the cherry on top ;)
A missing prop won't cause a problem. Other things missing sometimes (but not always) could cause a problem. If you have a moment, can you let me know what that missing item was, so I can add it to the collection? Thanks!! :steamhappy:
answering the next two in a second message....
minero 8 Apr, 2018 @ 5:11pm
I have a follow-on comment related to the Random Tree Rotation mod in your collection. As you know there is another version, supposedly developed to fix a problem in it. Comments about these two versions are really unclear. Are you sure that the one you picked is the right one to use? And on that topic, I do plan to replace the vanilla Small Beech, Alder #2, Oak, and Tree with Leaves with nice assets by pdelmo. I am told that this might fix the flickering problem. Do you think that is wise?

And a suggestion: I think that you add the Loading Screen Mod to your requirements, given the large number of subscriptions and the fact that some assets use common features. And I was a bit surprised that we don't need Not So Unique Buildings, so I added it to my subscriptions.
minero 8 Apr, 2018 @ 5:08pm
I'm another beginning user of your marvelous savefile. My plan is to use it to learn CS and then to continue its development. I spent a lot of time planning before getting started. I wanted to report something. There are 23 missing "required items" in your Christmas Village Collection. All but one are props, so I guess it really doesn't matter if you don't mind getting error messages. However, I collected all those props anyway because I want to use the mod developer's best efforts. The one missing mod is Vehicle Effects 1.8.0. My assumption is that all of these arose because improvements have been made to the mods after you made your collection.

Thanks a lot for your work. This isn't the only thing of yours I plan to use!

*faints to the floor* oh thank God LOL
MRNICE 4 Jan, 2018 @ 11:49am
I think I got it workning by manually selecting only Christmas theme 2 in the District Themes and enabling Theme Management for all district. No more buildning popping. Thanks for a great map and assets.
MrMiyagi  [author] 4 Jan, 2018 @ 5:37am
Arrgh! Well that just stinks. I wish I could transport to your location, take a look at your setup and fix it with a click, but Star Trek transporters haven't been invented yet ;) It would be so simple. I'm sure you're quite sick of this whole exercise, but in case you want to, can you take a screenshot of your game's settings on Building Themes for me? https://imgur.com/a/yGXKA
MRNICE 4 Jan, 2018 @ 2:38am
Unsubscribed the two mods, deleted the XML, resubscribed the mods but it doesn't change anytning. Tried it a couple of times. Green level-up arrows and skyscrapers popping as soon as I load the map.
MrMiyagi  [author] 3 Jan, 2018 @ 1:53pm
Ok I have the answer, MRNICE, thank you for testing for me. I also ran into the same thing, but I was able to fix it. It's because there is something that gets crosswired in Building Themes mod. Unsubscribe to the two Building Themes mods (main mod and Christmas Village). Delete the XML file here that Building Themes leaves behind at this location: ({Steam folder}\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\BuildingThemes.xml)
Resubscribe and the themes should now work correctly.
MRNICE 3 Jan, 2018 @ 6:34am
Tried to disable and enable the two mods, restarted CS, loaded game but no luck. Green level-up arrows and skyscrapers are popping upp immediately. Is there any other solution to this? Some other ingame or mod settings?
MrMiyagi  [author] 2 Jan, 2018 @ 2:32pm
My theory is that Building Themes and Building Themes Christmas Village mods aren't activated, but we'll see what you report
MrMiyagi  [author] 2 Jan, 2018 @ 2:30pm
After you do this setup, all you will have to do from then on is just "load game" and pick your Christmas Village save game. No more fuss :) Fingers crossed, let me know
MrMiyagi  [author] 2 Jan, 2018 @ 2:29pm
Hiya MRNICE. I know what the cause of that is. Look two comments below yours - the really long one from me to andraszy? He had the same issue. Follow the exact steps I wrote out and report back to me if it worked. I use a few extra steps than normal because they're planned to make sure all the mods and buildings go into their happy place and work right.
This pic will also help, it is step number one https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/891015150806093137/CB68A7A4B875AB4E9C01F80623AE746EBD532780/

How can I stop the skyscrapers from replacing the timberframe buildings? I've tried restaring CS but it does not help.

☠ ⒶⒹⒺⒼⒶⓈ ☠ thanks :) My favorite things in making maps are the happy little trees! :D

What an awesome and beautiful work. Watching most of your map designs its like watching Bob Ross Paint, its that fuzzy feeling you just cant explain.
Beautiful and masterfull creativity.
MrMiyagi  [author] 20 Dec, 2017 @ 12:12pm
Hi andraszy.
First step - you have both the Building Themes by District Mod and the Building Themes by District Christmas Village Mod activated, right? After activating both, you must restart Cities Skylines completely. Then to load this game or any save game, always click "Load Game" (never "Continue Game", there's a glitch in "continue game" function).

Ok, next check, if you do have both activated, and restarted Cities completely, it is possible for the theme to not work - if you are already inside a Cities Skylines game playing, and try to load the Christmas Village savegame directly without quitting, skyscrapers start going up. It happened to me, too. Just an hour ago. I was very surprised :D

Tip: If you ever run into weird things in this game, first try quitting Cities Skylines completely, then restart the game and always pick "load game", not continue game.

Let me know if it works for you!
andraszy 20 Dec, 2017 @ 11:42am
Very nice. Thank You. How can i hinder the skyscrapers to replace the timberframe houses? It happens short time after starting the game . No Skyscraper is active.

You're welcome fwa and P_DROXP. Have fun in the snow!
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Dec, 2017 @ 2:37pm
Hey AmiPolizeiFunk, I've got your solution! I do this, I can only have 400 items :)
Make a private collection (make it hidden so only you can see it). When adding items just go down the list clicking each item under the "subscribed items" tab. Click fast and you won't have to wait for a reload every time you add one. Now you have the precise list of all your subs for your Berlin game documented.
Unsubscribe to all Berlin with one click if you like, subscribe all button to Christmas Village. When you want to go back to Berlin, just do that again.
fwa 17 Dec, 2017 @ 12:49pm
Very nice. Thank you
:steamhappy:
P_DROXP 17 Dec, 2017 @ 11:54am
OMG this feels so cozy and magic! I love it, really. Thank you for that ^^
And Happy Christmas :)
AmiPolizeiFunk 17 Dec, 2017 @ 9:46am
I wanna try this but I'm afraid. I have almost 2k custom assets for my Berlin savegame. Do you guys think it's possible to swap them out and swap these in without big difficulties?
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Dec, 2017 @ 6:34am
Have fun stevieb and share screenshots if you choose to build more! :steamhappy:
