I have a tip for you: check out Loading Screen Mod and especially the section about "skipping prefabs". You can make the game skip loading all the vanilla buildings that most of us don't like, saving you a ton of RAM so you can add custom stuff.
A good tip: always completely quit Cities before loading up a save game again. It doesn't sound like your problem but thought I'd just pass that tidbit on :)
Hey, that reminds me. *Get Mesh Info mod*. It's a life saver just as Loading Screen is... it identifies which props, buildings etc are poorly optimized so your game runs as intended. There are a LOT of really, really bad items out on the workshop, especially vehicles with 16K triangles
Most of these are associated with Aluminium MRF, various UK Pubs, and half-timbered houses.
And I have to add that the way you combined seemingly unrelated assets into your village was an eye-opener for me. I never would have thought of using those pubs or those medieval assets. This will make my city building much better, I think.
Thanks for all the help on this!!!, and let me know how you like the city! :)
If in the future an update breaks Random Tree Rotation (or any other mods used in this city save), it will be safe to run this city without any of the mods. Building Themes by District mod would result in some undesirable things like the loss of the Half Timbered high density buildings to vanilla levels 4 and 5, but there are several other building control mods and now new cool buildings by Titan to consider using.
A missing prop won't cause a problem. Other things missing sometimes (but not always) could cause a problem. If you have a moment, can you let me know what that missing item was, so I can add it to the collection? Thanks!!
answering the next two in a second message....
And a suggestion: I think that you add the Loading Screen Mod to your requirements, given the large number of subscriptions and the fact that some assets use common features. And I was a bit surprised that we don't need Not So Unique Buildings, so I added it to my subscriptions.
Thanks a lot for your work. This isn't the only thing of yours I plan to use!
Resubscribe and the themes should now work correctly.
This pic will also help, it is step number one https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/891015150806093137/CB68A7A4B875AB4E9C01F80623AE746EBD532780/
Beautiful and masterfull creativity.
First step - you have both the Building Themes by District Mod and the Building Themes by District Christmas Village Mod activated, right? After activating both, you must restart Cities Skylines completely. Then to load this game or any save game, always click "Load Game" (never "Continue Game", there's a glitch in "continue game" function).
Ok, next check, if you do have both activated, and restarted Cities completely, it is possible for the theme to not work - if you are already inside a Cities Skylines game playing, and try to load the Christmas Village savegame directly without quitting, skyscrapers start going up. It happened to me, too. Just an hour ago. I was very surprised :D
Tip: If you ever run into weird things in this game, first try quitting Cities Skylines completely, then restart the game and always pick "load game", not continue game.
Let me know if it works for you!
Make a private collection (make it hidden so only you can see it). When adding items just go down the list clicking each item under the "subscribed items" tab. Click fast and you won't have to wait for a reload every time you add one. Now you have the precise list of all your subs for your Berlin game documented.
Unsubscribe to all Berlin with one click if you like, subscribe all button to Christmas Village. When you want to go back to Berlin, just do that again.
And Happy Christmas :)
