Excellent point, pixey. I for one am grateful for this mod :) Maybe clams are just the "oysters" of Skyrim.
pixeylight 12 Jul, 2014 @ 4:17pm
thank you for this mod!
and as a side note, I'm not sure I understand the validity of the nitpicking over whether a clam or an oyster produces pearls...arguing about reality in a game that has dragons, giants, trolls, and mages....
jjb-54 25 Apr, 2014 @ 8:01am
Thanks for the quick answer ... That's pretty much what I'm going to do - in that the other one seems to be ... well ... I like your's better. :)
Zirrrus  [author] 25 Apr, 2014 @ 1:14am
The one on Nexus is not by me. You could just grab this mod's esp from the data folder("clamsgivepearls.esp") and use it with a different mod manager, I think?
I don't plan on updating this mod, so you won't miss out on any sweet new content.
jjb-54 24 Apr, 2014 @ 2:25pm
Is this the same mod on NEXUS: Clams Drop Pearls? Yes, the author is not the name as yours - but I've found that to be the case with a lot of NEXUS / STEAM mods - some authors have one name for Nexus and another name for Steam. Thus my reason for asking.

Since the last "bug" with Steam and the 50 MOD CAP - I'm trying to convert as many mods as I can from Steam to Nexus and leave it at that.

Thanks .. Jj ...

Pearls can come from any shelled mollusk. Since natural pearls are pretty rare, the vast majority are farmed and for some reason the pearl industry uses oysters for that. Except for the part where clams drop pearls 2/3 of the time, this mod is accurate.

Y'all can suck it.
Dylan 27 Feb, 2014 @ 3:57pm
@feral, ya they do
Red Ensign 19 Feb, 2014 @ 3:52pm
umm, pearls don't come from clams...

It isn't an oversight in the game. Clams don't produce pearls...that's an Oysters job.
Easy Redbeard 5 May, 2013 @ 2:19pm
*Thank You*. About time.
SciFiSoldier 10 Mar, 2013 @ 7:43pm
As it should be!
mynds.i 22 Feb, 2013 @ 2:26pm
Finally! Thank you for coming up with this oh so logical mod.
IamButAbutterfly 9 Feb, 2013 @ 12:44pm
cant you just make the clams bigger? :3 and the quest hased to do with collecting fresh clam meat... (in dawnguard its for the vamp hunters :3) and in hearthfire u give fresh clam meat to some guy and (he ends up tricking u) he says he willl give u unlimited childs stuff but they r both hard to get...:3 still...well... YOU GET DA POINT derp
Ibadca 9 Feb, 2013 @ 8:10am
Thanks! I was wondering why one of the ingredient overhaul mods I downloaded didn't address this issue.
Darkly 8 Feb, 2013 @ 5:28pm

SevenBlueSeven 8 Feb, 2013 @ 4:05pm
Thanks for fixing a glaring oversight with this simple mod!
Corgi_flop10 7 Feb, 2013 @ 11:14am

Owen 6 Feb, 2013 @ 9:43am
This will be great for my clam farm at Windstad Manor. Thanks!
Geno Cidal 5 Feb, 2013 @ 11:48pm
I don think Ive ever found a pearl cept from a corpse maybe, great mod
Axelion 5 Feb, 2013 @ 10:21pm
Great idea, the last time I used a mod like this was in Morrowind, thanks for doing this its very helpful for alchemy users.
Bloodinfested 5 Feb, 2013 @ 3:32am
oblivion had this wonder why they took it out
Brass Buckles 4 Feb, 2013 @ 10:42pm
Actually, there is such a thing as freshwater pearls. They're more common than oyster pearls and not as valuable--they tend to be irregularly shaped and dark-colored. Think you can get them out of freshwater mussells, sometimes. (Don't believe me? If you search it online, you can find jewelry made of freshwater pearls. They're cheaper than oyster pearls.)

But since the game already has what basically looks like freshwater pearls, and most natural, non-cultured saltwater pearls are irregularly shaped/imperfect, I don't see any need to differentiate between the two.
Sam Fissure 4 Feb, 2013 @ 2:35pm
sweet. and I think it is a hearthfire quest (something like "honey get me some clams" "Yes dear")
Zirrrus  [author] 4 Feb, 2013 @ 2:25pm
I only changed their loot and name...I have no idea what quest you are talking about but in theory it should still work.
As for the salt/freshwater thing(This mod has taught me quite a bit about clam already. Educational!), Bethesda placed the same kind of clams in all bodies of water. To differentiate between them would require making a new kind and replacing all the ones in fresh or salt water. A bit beyond the scope of this mod(I also am too lazy).
IamButAbutterfly 4 Feb, 2013 @ 1:15pm
with that said... clams dont give off pearls in freshwater (lakes, creeks, ect) so if u made them too give off pearls plz fix (and it makes it harder for us to find so u can increase moneh :3)
IamButAbutterfly 4 Feb, 2013 @ 1:13pm
~No Dawnguard or Hearthfire required~

yes i see but...does it conflict with them? (in hearthfire and dawnguard theres a quest on clams :3)
Zirrrus  [author] 4 Feb, 2013 @ 12:40pm
The objective of this mod is to vastly increase the amount of pearls available, for alchemic purposes. That requires a rather high drop rate.
These pearls don't look like they would be fit for jewellery, they couldn't be worth much, right?
kongkim 4 Feb, 2013 @ 12:13pm
Yah way to high drop rate. and worth to little.
Divah 4 Feb, 2013 @ 12:08pm
Nice mod :)
Divah 4 Feb, 2013 @ 12:07pm
some pearls are very expensive but some other are very cheap around the world.
The Dark Ranger 4 Feb, 2013 @ 11:49am
You realize pears are sadly like 2 gold? Would you mind increasing the price to a realistic one? Pearls were worth a fortune and only nobles and royalty wore them. I think they should be worth like 200 gold each and have a 10% drop rate.
prinzeugen 4 Feb, 2013 @ 7:01am
Thanx for your reply - guess its not that easy - just like you say. I'll subscribe anyway.
Zirrrus  [author] 4 Feb, 2013 @ 2:00am
@ZulaZ: Good idea! Made a little mod for that, look in my workshop. :)
Mouse 4 Feb, 2013 @ 12:27am
I humbly request you force the salmon hanging around Skyrim to give up thier roe, punching fish in the overies doesnt seem to work.
Zirrrus  [author] 3 Feb, 2013 @ 11:07pm
@TORCHWOOD: Someone explained the LeveledList to me just a few days ago. But I assumed the clams would only work with a single specified item. Now to change some plants...
TORCHWOOD 3 Feb, 2013 @ 7:55pm
Right on. I was wondering if there was a loot tablr to be used maybe? If I could like a second time I would.
KennyBall 3 Feb, 2013 @ 12:54pm
@ ๖ۣۜDovahkiin - Try to restart your steam client, if that do not work, restart your pc and try again ;)
Irongamer 3 Feb, 2013 @ 12:28pm
i'm not sure if its only me, but steam doesn't allows it to download...
it gives me a steam error 16...
Zirrrus  [author] 3 Feb, 2013 @ 10:55am
@gremlins20: Not a lot, but they are useful as an alchemy ingredient.

@TORCHWOOD: Thank you! Your comment made me think about it again. And I discovered a solution to my problem.
Chain_Letter 3 Feb, 2013 @ 10:21am
I love little mods like this that make sense. Like that "standing on campfires hurts" mod.
Emilyn 3 Feb, 2013 @ 9:23am
how much are pearls actually worth?
TORCHWOOD 2 Feb, 2013 @ 11:43pm
mmmm fried clams. any way to randomly mix the two items to either drop one or the other and sometimes both? No idea if anyone else has already asked this yet.
naptimenurse 2 Feb, 2013 @ 5:10pm
Pearls: more useful than clam meat.
