So, just an idea, if you would landing gears and attach, let's say steel plates to it, you should be able to drop from orbit without a parachute. That's how I'm doing my UNSC drop pod.

three legs... hmm look at a strider from half life 2 for reference on that walk. it would probably be a mess of timers, but certainly possible

You ever watch Matrix Revolution? I did. I saw the mech things. MART scrips would make that possible, but i dont know how to script or extensivley use rotors. I have made one mech before. with 2 rotors for the legs, and i swore enough t0 make a Drill Seargant or Trucker blush. so, yeah. Awesome mech, dude!

i actually use that script from time to time, and i get too much airtime with it for the mechs to be stable

Dear Bruce, A Suggestion. Even if your rarely use mods, a Precie timer Script Would benefit The KYHAL automatic Mech, IMMENSELY. It would allow More presice walking, Without one Second delays, for Your Mechs, and less chance of them Falling over Sideways. Love this Thing.

works exactly once, because once one mech has been built, the next prints forget their group assignments

I have an idea now.
Mech Factory. The limbs are assembled in seperate areas then transported via pistons with landing gear/merger blocks. In a central chamber they're connected, and the mech is dropped onto a connector which fuels it, and then is deposited onto a conveyor belt which takes it to a storage bay with a hangar door.

thats a general problem with the game. Sadly in survival it is impossible for one single projector to project subgrids. a very large factory would be needed to do that

lack of paintjob is best, you can paint it with ur own colors, or also, it looks like its primered, cause its a prototype of something,

or if you do paint it, i suggest digital camo.
