BTW, branding just unlocked on all the U.S. routes. So those branded trains are all available for these series now. No locos yet AFAIK.
And Donner Pass? They shuold be "start with 1,000 points" scenarios. I may republish them like that.
180 minutes, actually. And I scored -17,000. Like you said, waste of time. And they tie achievements to the Career ones, and expect you to play the batch of scenarios ten times to get the final achievement. Uh, redo those, DTG?
As much as I like the WCML Over Shap, the fact that the Introductionary scenarios that tought you how stuff like the neutral sections worked and showed you where they were career scenarios left me a bit miffed.
Well the route is still great and more than worth the money though! ;)
So the only way of fixing that is like you did in the first scenario, by starting running light or only with a few wagons attached.
Interestingly a few years ago one community member released the "fixed" versions, where he just increased the allowed linespeed to 30 (passenger speed) and suddenly you could make it in time, and even ahead a bit.
Seems like the timetable is done for something like 27.5 mph, but you can only drive 25 mph.
Add to that the broken wheelslip calcuations and you have a perfect storm.
The problem with the wheelslip is that it's not just adhesion vs. power applied, but it adds a factor based on the train weight to the wheelslip calculations, so a train that is heavier has a higher base chance of wheelslip even before the power vs. adhesion is calculated.
Keeps the scenario interesting, which is vital on a route like Donner.
Have a Happy New Year from cold and snowy Montana.
