Basically, do as silvesther_lusion said; problem was, he was no longer attacking me for some reason, so I basically wailed away on him until he "died" (which took FOREVER and a skill boost, LOL), fast traveled, and boom, he was fixed. I can talk to him now (and I bet if I accidentally hit him again, he'd attack me).
It'd be nice if some sort of failsafe was added against that happening, but... I know nothing about modding, so I don't know if that's feasible. P:
The only thing I can figure is that I accidentally shot him while we were killing a dragon, so... I don't know how to fix it! I can't dismiss him to get rid of him, I can't run away from him, and I don't know how to fix the dialogue... help!?
Btw. If you use a shout, like Unrelenting force, and accidently hit the fox, he'll turn on you. He can't die, he'll just cower in fear if you beat the crap out of him. He might be stubborn to attack you again after that, and trust me he'll keep comming at you over and over again.
This might mess up some events in questing, and it made the first greybeard quest take forever. Hopefully this is a bug, which will be fixed in later releases.
Sollution to this, for now : Beat him up really good, run for it, fast travel somewhere. He'll show up at your new location and be friendly again.
Thanks for the tip, I was just about to come here and remark that my little arctic fox Fonn (yes, I name my dogs/foxes/horses; I wish this was a real feature :c) turned on me for accidentally shooting him in the back with an arrow. I didn't think to use Kyne's Peace and instead just reloaded from an autosave a few minutes before.
STOP GETTING IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I'M SHOOTING THEN, SILLY FOX ;^;
Just went and found my little guy, and he is ADORABLE! The panting is pretty annoying, but paired up with my dog (which I retextured to look like a white wolf, with the help of Bellyache's BEAUTIFUL texture pack; look on Nexus for their stuff, I HIGHLY recommend it) they are too cute to believe!!
I'm taking him out on an adventure now; glad to know that he's essential, so I don't have to worry about him becoming a crunchy snack, hehe. Hope the panting thing gets worked out, but even if it doesn't, I wish I could give this mod a million thumbs up. P:
