I wish this was for vanilla too

Found the issue: there is a file in the portrait mod, common/cultures/Britannia_Portraits_cultures.txt, which is supposed to overwrite the graphical cultures of Old Saxon, Old Frisian, Frisian, and Alan (all the "overwrites" are identical, except for Alan; it substitutes the fallback persiangfx for some slavic gfx). Problem is, it refers to "old_saxon," but the culture is defined as "oldsaxon" in the full-length cultures.txt. This ghost culture causes the game to crash on load. Removing this file fixes it and also cuts down on redundant filesize.

For some reason, when I run this mod with the base mod, it always crashes at "Learning Classical History," which is "Loading Events" normally. I say "for some reason" because this problem does not happen when I run the portraits submod with the Github version of the mod.

@The1freeman1 Check your modlist and make sure you don't have any incompatible mods enabled, that's usually the cause of this issue. Also make sure that you have all the necessary portrait DLCs.
The1freeman1 22 Aug, 2023 @ 8:32am
For me some anglo saxon portraits either have invisible characters or there are lands without rulers, what do I need to fix this?
niccodigge 4 Sep, 2021 @ 10:08am
@DC2357 my bad, i had holy fury, not monks and mystic

DC2357  [author] 3 Sep, 2021 @ 12:59pm
@niccodigge You said you have Monks and Mystics, do you have Holy Fury? Also, do you have any other portrait mods enabled?
niccodigge 3 Sep, 2021 @ 12:14pm
@DC2357 Western Pack recommend Charlemagne to work properly, i think i figured it out

Edit: nope, stll bugged
niccodigge 3 Sep, 2021 @ 11:58am
Steam couldnt download properly Charlemagne because of "missing configuration of application" or something like that
do anyone have an idea of this error? pls
niccodigge 3 Sep, 2021 @ 11:44am

DC2357  [author] 3 Sep, 2021 @ 9:53am
@niccodigge It sounds like you need Early Western Portraits?
niccodigge 3 Sep, 2021 @ 3:39am
ok, removing this mod made Angles lord visibles, but it downgrade portraits
maybe i need charlemagne, also?
niccodigge 3 Sep, 2021 @ 3:32am
even all major dlcs, like conclave, reaper due and way of life
niccodigge 3 Sep, 2021 @ 3:31am
i purchased Mongol, Celtic, Norse, Mongol, Iberian and African portraits, even Saxon Units pack, but still King Aelle and Angles are invisibles
DC2357  [author] 17 Apr, 2021 @ 10:38am
@Oyvind You also need the Celtic, Norse, Mongol, and Iberian portrait packs.
Oyvind 17 Apr, 2021 @ 1:35am
I have Monks and Mystics, Holy Fury, and Early Western Portraits but I still have broken Portraits. Any idea on what is going on?
DC2357  [author] 29 Mar, 2020 @ 9:00am
@GENEMARSHAL SALZANDRAKAN Could you clarify which cultures still use the original portraits?
GENEMARSHAL SALZANDRAKAN 29 Mar, 2020 @ 8:40am
Will these be updated to reflect the newer and very nice portrait DLC that have been added? I weep when I see the original character faces.
DC2357  [author] 29 Aug, 2019 @ 8:17am
@superninja76 We're not really in favour of that, as we feel that would clutter up people's mod list too much. There's also the issue that most of the portraits require multiple DLCs, which complicates things even further (given that most mods that do this have one portrait mod part corresponding to one DLC). It's quite simple to disable specific portraits that you don't have the DLC for (if you're using the manual download) in any case.
superninja76 29 Aug, 2019 @ 2:12am
Is there any way you could split up the portrait mod so that people with certain DLCs but not others can still use their portraits?
Thanks!
DC2357  [author] 5 Jun, 2019 @ 7:40pm
@duckpissedman There aren't any other plans for the portrait module at the moment, since nobody on the dev team is particularly proficient in portrait modding.
MC Bimbada 5 Jun, 2019 @ 3:31pm
Hello sir. Will this mod go further in its objective? I like a lot how the gallic portraits are but I wonder if the rest of the world will get a face lift. Is this mod going to achieve CPR+ proportions?
Rhaeven 7 Feb, 2019 @ 8:33pm
Oh my mistake then.
DC2357  [author] 7 Feb, 2019 @ 6:19pm
@Reuven von Lockhart I'm not quite sure what you mean. This portrait mod doesn't add any new portraits for the Celts.
Rhaeven 7 Feb, 2019 @ 6:05pm
Good work on the Winter King mod! Would it also be possible to create a standalone portrait mod for the vanilla celtics?
DC2357  [author] 31 Jan, 2019 @ 4:56pm
We are happy to update the portrait module the release of BTWK version 1.9.0, with the addition of portrait sets for Romanized cultures (particularly Romano-British and Romano-Gallic). Please note that this means that the Iberian Portraits , Monks and Mystics , and Holy Fury DLC are all now required for the portrait module, in addition to the DLC that were previously needed.
DC2357  [author] 1 Oct, 2018 @ 7:15pm
@LMaquiel Could you clarify what you mean by that? You mean you want to be able to use the Alan portraits outside of the mod, e.g. in vanilla?
LM 1 Oct, 2018 @ 6:44pm
Can you create a unique mod with the alan portraits? Thank you
Total Nihilist Death 5 Feb, 2018 @ 7:47am
@DC2357 Thank you very much.

@economicducknana Better Looking Garbs is terrible, it makes everyone look like a freak.
DC2357  [author] 31 Jan, 2018 @ 5:23pm
@The Ghost of Bob Ross The module should be compatible with vanilla as is without any changes (of course, you'll get the custom Saxon portraits ingame as well).
Typer. 31 Jan, 2018 @ 4:35pm
@TheGhostofBobRoss you might want to check out the mod "Better Looking Garbs". It improves portrays for vanilla and Ck2++
Total Nihilist Death 31 Jan, 2018 @ 4:22pm
This sounds dumb, but the Norse Portraits in this mod are so much better than the vanilla ones, any chance you could release them standalone without the Winter King requirement?
DC2357  [author] 7 Jan, 2018 @ 9:54pm
@economicBanana We don't have any current plans for the portraits.
Typer. 6 Jan, 2018 @ 3:20am
Any plans on adding the new Anglo Saxon and German Portraits to the mod eventually? I know the "portrait modder is currently on hiatus" but I was wondering if it's something you plan on doing?
SPESS 5 Jan, 2018 @ 8:31am
Well, I just tried CPR+ with it, and it seems to work, more or less. I'm not sure if everything is showing up correctly, but it's stable.
DC2357  [author] 5 Jan, 2018 @ 8:19am
@Sigiswulf I'm pretty sure that the portraits are modified as well. It might be compatible with other portarit mods as long as they don't try to change the same portraits, but I'm not totally sure.
SPESS 5 Jan, 2018 @ 7:38am
Plus some of the Norse facial hair is misaligned with the face.
SPESS 5 Jan, 2018 @ 7:37am
Does this change the people themselves or just the clothing? I need to know if I can use another portrait mod with this, because all of the German women in my game look like horrible mutants.
DC2357  [author] 4 Jan, 2018 @ 3:09pm
@Liam-R-Beast Our portrait modder is currently on hiatus, so we probably won't be able to do that.
Liam-R-Beast 4 Jan, 2018 @ 11:09am
Would it be possible to make this mod work without the early western clothing pack? That dlc is simply not worth it
DC2357  [author] 3 Jan, 2018 @ 11:14am
@duckpissedman We have never had individual modules that require only particular portrait packs, only a single portrait module that requires all of them. Maybe you're thinking of When the World Stopped Making Sense.
MC Bimbada 3 Jan, 2018 @ 10:45am
This is not working for me. I remember tha I used to get "the winter king - Mongol faces pack" etc. in my launcher but i am not getting this. It is required for this mod to work enable these?
