Multi-Empire Starting Systems

So, can't you give the option to choose? Like take an Event UI template, and in-case the name of the System you chose to start out with shows up more than once. Give the Player the ability to choose. With the one the player made having PLAYER SYSTEM in the name for choices.

Nah. The problem being that United Nations of Earth or Earth Custodianship would spawn in a different Sol, because game-starting script does not recognize them as the same system. Causing two Sols.

Why do you want to prevent marsian empires to spawn in the same system as a normal (roughly) human empire ? - I thought that was one of the points to this mod...
Pode 30 Mar, 2018 @ 2:04pm
My plan for that is ship sections with no thrusters that are event spawned in orbit like the primitive space stations are. I just won't get to experimenting with that code for at least a week.
ZacharyBuilder 30 Mar, 2018 @ 1:05pm
alright
Violent Beetle  [author] 30 Mar, 2018 @ 1:04pm
While there are some ideas floating around on how it can work, at the moment it's highly unlikely I implement any of them.

We gonna need an alternative to starbases before we are getting anywhere at all.
ZacharyBuilder 30 Mar, 2018 @ 12:52pm
if possible could you update this mod to 2.0.2 violent bettle please
Pode 29 Mar, 2018 @ 3:19pm
There's gonna be a lot of overlap, since this mod would be starting from a position that PP needs to allow to emerge naturally. I'm working on it, and Violent Beetle or anyone else is welcome to take my code and run with it.
labgnome 29 Mar, 2018 @ 2:33pm
Dosen't primitive players start the player off without a starbase? Or is ti just hidden?

I mena that kind of thing might make this dependent on primitive players, or make it a competing version of it, but I could see requiring some kind of system-wide unification to build the starbase maybe being a fix. Also, maybe not a bad idea for primitive players anyway to avoid cannon-fodder rebels? I mean I really like the idea of this mod, so I am just throwing things out there to see how to possibly make it work.
Pode 29 Mar, 2018 @ 12:24pm
Violent beetle's already said that without a starbase the other factions would just be conquest fodder. He's not wrong, but I am still working on that for Disputed Systems.
labgnome 29 Mar, 2018 @ 12:03pm
So it's meant to be for rebellions and the like, and specifically to go with the "primitive players" mod, however this might actually be what you're looking for.

Also, because your scenarios seem like good fits for the "primitive players" setup anyway.
Violent Beetle  [author] 9 Mar, 2018 @ 9:13am
It is doable pretty easily. Though this doesn't seem like an adequate adaptation.

Maybe you should pitch it to Origin Civics dev. Sounds like something he'd do if not already did.

What about a start where other planets are controlled by your empire and inhabited by other species, for a sort of "planetary federation" start. Would that be possible?
Pode 3 Mar, 2018 @ 11:18am
True, but there are ways to make that more challenging. Just thought you'd be interested.
Violent Beetle  [author] 3 Mar, 2018 @ 11:12am
Problem is, without personal starport your neigbours will just be conquest folders.
Pode 3 Mar, 2018 @ 10:40am
Event action.85 in on_action_events is what forces planets to join the starbase owner, in case you want to disable that effeect and revive this mod for 2.0.
Violent Beetle  [author] 26 Feb, 2018 @ 11:08am
Highly unlikely it could work, considering the star is now where you both make your ships and defend yourself.
Pode 26 Feb, 2018 @ 10:47am
If you figure out how to have multiple empires in the same system under 2.0, please let me know. I'm trying to get my Primitive Players mod to support dynamically creating an Expanse type scenario.

Praise!

I decided to disable Martians after all. They probably don't fit every player.

They can, of course, be re-enabled via editing the prescripted country.

"nuke em till they glow, and shoot em in the dark"
anyone who's watched Babylon 5 will get it
Violent Beetle  [author] 3 Jan, 2018 @ 12:14pm
Thank you for your input. I finally got the spawned normally, so I can confirm it worked out.

At the moment I don't think it's necessary to disable Martian spawn, unless there's bigger support for your position. You look like someone who knows how to mod game, you can probably make a personal patch to switch their spawning to "no" if you feel like it.
Peanutcat 3 Jan, 2018 @ 10:44am
To make them spawn in game you'll need to have a parameter in the Prescripted_Countries for your species.

If we look at any prescriped race they'll have this part,

spawn_enabled = no # yes / no / always
spawn_as_fallen = yes # overrides spawn_enabled for fallen empires

That spawn_enabled field needs to be in there and be set to either, no, always or yes

Yes will spawn them randomly,
No will never spawn,
Always will always spawn.

With that said, I love the idea of the mod but I'm not to keen on the whole martian guys having spawning as AI enabled. Is this something you'd ever reconsider?
ODSTbag337 2 Jan, 2018 @ 4:17pm
Anyone up for a war on day one? No?

TOO BAD!!!
Violent Beetle  [author] 31 Dec, 2017 @ 12:54pm
Serious question, did anyone actually get Martians or Nakesh AI spawn?

I still can't get them spawn randomly.
Violent Beetle  [author] 31 Dec, 2017 @ 6:33am
The way the game generates galaxies, no, since each empire gets its own system.

I am planning on making an option where each empire that uses certain starting system would lose its capital and get moved to the same system. Once I stop procrastinating.
drasonz 31 Dec, 2017 @ 6:28am
is there a way to spawn 2 created empires?(1 player the other forced to spawn) just for role play reasons.
tolaburke 31 Dec, 2017 @ 1:49am
Be really, really sure you're ready before declaring war on your other empires.
