"Apologies if your town/city isn't present"
You can tell this mod was made by a bona fide English gentleman.

Back when this was created 96 towns was pushing it. So unfortunately due to scale and performance issues (and before my Massive Map Settings), towns had to be dropped. Most of the ones on the map should be rail connections, and the gaps would allow for ample industry. I may revist this area with my new style of maps.

I may get around to a no-industry version.

Why is there nothing inbetween harlow and cambridge?at least my home town is in it.
East Pavilion-er 29 Sep, 2018 @ 3:20pm
Hello. If I delete the "local industries" line from the map.lua file, I got a syntax error. Could you make a version without industry? Thank you very much!
wrightyj144 24 Jun, 2018 @ 8:28am
Cheers I've just downloaded the 4K version of the map to see if that'll work
GrandT  [author] 24 Jun, 2018 @ 8:28am
If you have experimentalmapsize set to true, it could be a memory issue.

Hello I'm having issues with the game not wanting to load the map even with 25 towns it could be my laptop as it's not the beefiest machine in the world. but from the screenshots it looks like a beautiful map and I'll see if it works in the future

I love it. Gives me memories of the UK
Babygirl 25 Jan, 2018 @ 12:18pm
Thank you!
GrandT  [author] 25 Jan, 2018 @ 11:51am
@Babygirl If you change the range = {80, 290}, settings to something like range = {110, 110} it should flatten it completely. You may need to try a higher number, but it "should" remove the water eventually.
Babygirl 25 Jan, 2018 @ 4:16am
How can I get rid of the water and make the map completly flat?
TrainswithNick 9 Jan, 2018 @ 3:36am
@captain783 I have experimental map sizes activated, have done for months. It's a memory issue for me, only having 8GB and the map png being so detailed.
GrandT  [author] 8 Jan, 2018 @ 2:09pm
@gold3 It could be you don't have enough memory, or you need to set experimentalmapsize = true. Try the 4k map if it's a memory issue.
gold3 6 Jan, 2018 @ 1:46pm
и как запустить эту карту? пишет ошибку при запуске!!
Captain783 4 Jan, 2018 @ 9:47am
@BafoonLagoon & @nickbrad82... to change the map size do the following... goto the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxxx\446800\local (where the x's are, you should see your profile number, eg, mine is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\236863859\446800\local) open the settings.lua using notepad++ and look for experimental map sizes, change that to "true" without ". Save it and then open th game
TrainswithNick 4 Jan, 2018 @ 1:19am
BafoonLagoon that is the same issue I was having, if you get the 4k version, that should fix the problem.
saintkosta 3 Jan, 2018 @ 6:06pm
how do i fix it when it says i need more than 16m pixels?
GrandT  [author] 3 Jan, 2018 @ 12:17pm
Ok, 4k version is up, I'll be working on East Midlands next with both 6k and 4k version.
TrainswithNick 3 Jan, 2018 @ 3:23am
No problem, I know how addictive this game can be once you start
GrandT  [author] 2 Jan, 2018 @ 9:55pm
Sorry, I got tied up testing (playing) this map with 60 towns at x4 slower.
GrandT  [author] 2 Jan, 2018 @ 9:54pm
Yup, I'll be making a 4k version of the 25 town map, and also an east midlands 4k/6k map.
TrainswithNick 2 Jan, 2018 @ 12:56pm
Have you had chance to look at creating that 4k map yet? I've tried various workarounds, but my system just does not like the map size
nishma 30 Dec, 2017 @ 7:23pm
Thats a lot better mate , good job .
GrandT  [author] 30 Dec, 2017 @ 6:39pm
Ok. I've managed to remove the stepping (ridges) from the map and improved the gradients a little too. There's now a little more depth, but for those who love hills you can still increase that further.
GrandT  [author] 30 Dec, 2017 @ 2:38pm
Thanks nishma. I noticed the contours too, I'll mess with it a little and see if I can't smooth it out my end.
nishma 30 Dec, 2017 @ 2:13pm
Just been playing on this map . its a nice map , but i have some feedback . more smoothing is needed, The contour lines used to make map still show and small ridges on the ground.
Maybe consider changing the scale of the map to cover a smaller geographical aera but in more detail . ( i would love to be able to make the southern railway system )

thanks for your hard work .
ccrzzydve1 30 Dec, 2017 @ 12:22pm
I'm still patiently waiting for someone to make a map of the midlands and north to the borders
nishma 30 Dec, 2017 @ 11:14am
now working . thank you
GrandT  [author] 30 Dec, 2017 @ 7:28am
Ok, I've changed the directory structure and it should now show up in game. If you have late game issues, I would recommend deleting some of the towns as shown in the description.
GrandT  [author] 30 Dec, 2017 @ 6:55am
Hiya, thanks for the feedback all. I'm looking in to why this won't currently show up. @nickbrad82 I certainly look in to East Midlands once I get this issue resolved.
Tordenskjold 30 Dec, 2017 @ 6:23am
12-15 cities on a map running for 150 years will be fine
TrainswithNick 30 Dec, 2017 @ 3:38am
Would you ever consider a map of the East Midlands, (Cambs and Lincs area) I have tried to create one myself, but the low lying land means that using the map editor available, I end up either losing the coastline or most of the land. I am not proficient enough to overcome this.
nishma 30 Dec, 2017 @ 2:43am
i also have this issue of not showing in the map menu . I do hope this issues gets fixed.
PlanetEML 30 Dec, 2017 @ 12:35am
I wanted to give this a try as it looks like it could be a good map for large scale commuter networks. Unfortunately, even though I have the map enabled, it's not giving your map an option to load.
GrandT  [author] 29 Dec, 2017 @ 8:35pm
Unfortunately I don't know of a way to impliment a slider for (City Density) within a custom map. However, anyone is free to remove any cities they don't want via the .lua file.

Maybe I'll make it a pack with Low, Medium, High, Ultra towns. Seems better to allow people to choose their towns from an accurate map though.
Tordenskjold 29 Dec, 2017 @ 8:28pm
You are waisting our time - Far to many cities -Play it with start in 1840 and end 2000
and the game engine will let you down ; no matther how good your rig is
