Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well
Opened up the page and saw the images, "Oh shit lol".
IS
NOT
A
FUCKING
HALO.
Thank you, and good luck with your project too.
It will probably take a while before I finish any of my SE projects, because right now I have other things to do and other games to play.
GL with yours :)
It cannot fly in an atmosphere. In fact, it will probably be almost stationary due to its enormous weight and how few thrusters I can fit on it. I mean, its exterior will be covered in thrusters, but that won't do much due to the square cube law. And I can not do thruster stacking on the sides because that would take up far too much volume. I will be stacing the forward and reverse thrusters though.
this 1km miner atmo capable or no? Planning on designing a atmo capable mobile deep drilling miner, got a mod that makes mining a bit more challenging
Maybe you could use it to transport ring habitat sections, giant space stations, wrecks from a giant space battle, or maybe some warlord ordered overnight shipping of 20 capital ships and your shipping company only have one employee.
I'm pretty sure if it were oxygen sealed, pressurising and depressurising it would be able to fry a supercomputer. And I would have to invent some clever mechanism with merge blocks, pistons and rotors to make it work. (I'm pretty sure I could make that work, actually.)
If you want something a bit more practical: I've also been working on a 1km+ long mining ship with an on-board ship printer. Theoretically it could make giant war fleets in survival. It could even make something like the giant ship I rammed into the ring at one of the pictures if I decide to make the printer large enough.
awe thats disappointing, your last made me want to go kidnap some wolves...lol ;)
Spawning wildlife on the ring would be awesome, but I don't think they can exist anywhere outside planets. I think Laststandgamers on youtube tried to bring some sabiroids to space once, and they just despawned when they reached a certain altitude.
I just find it awesome that Larry Niven has sparked so much creativity through his "invention".
Both are good books btw. =D
Also, nice mod! :D
A halo ring is quite unspecific as to it requirements(aside from the obvious), could be argued simply that this is outside the halo universe and thusly not a halo ring. but a ringworld as described by the books author, does have distiguishing characteristics for which are both impossible, and if so, likely take you a lifetime to construct ingame, so again not that.
Think ring habitat was a good way to go ;) do you know if its possible to spawn SE creatures on its surface?
This was mainly inspired by the ringworld, which I first learned of from stellaris. I obviously couldn't make one large enough to be classified as an actual ringworld, so its more of a ring-shaped habitat station; a space station built to serve as land to build houses on or as a wildlife preserve. So in conclusion: technically it is neither a ringworld nor a halo ring, but it can be either of them if you want it to.
The reason I haven't made this clear until now is because I found the arguing in the comments to be way too entertaining.
(original author of the book "Ringworld", fhimc).
Kudos
Looks cool on the surface either way. I'd maybe touch up the perimeter edges of the ring, maybe give it some character, would definitely boost its appearance at range.
@ OP: 40hrs? construction time? that not bad if it was done by hand not printed ;)
P.S. the airtight enclosure alone on that scale would probably crash any system...yeah woulda been way too ambitious for SE current. Nice job though
So simply said, the ringword is NOT created by the creators of the Halo games, even though they're hella cool in game.
Also, Preview Text, your name and profile picture remind me of a edgy middleschooler.
Please shut your mouth and go back to CoD, thank you.
Are you sure?
Is this halo?
