Does this add coil weapons for the WOTC resistance factions? Because if it does they aren't showing up for me.

Hi, this doesn’t work. I don’t get the weapons in my inventory after researching and buying them in Engineering. For the record, I am using Weapons and Items Overhaul .

just curious, but does beam weapon breakthroughs work for the coilguns? If not, does changing the coilguns' damage type to Projectile_BeamXCom make the breakthrough apply to them?

The sound of the coil cannon is terrible (it's the conventional cannon sound). Would be better if it sounded like the coil rifle. Is there any way to change it?

@KnaveofSpades Issue resolved. It turned out Steam was not connecting properly. I logged into Steam via my browser and then Steam logged in properly. After that I uninstalled and reinstalled this mod. Issue solved. It was a Steam issue. Why my browser immediately detected my connection and Steam did not is a real mystery.

@KnaveOfSpades There seems to be an issue when subscribing to this mod. It does not show in the games mod launcher or the alternate mod launcher. I tried deleting the config folder and that did not fit the issue. I tried unsubscribing and resubscribing and that did not solve the issue. I logged out of Steam and restarted the game with the alternate mod launcher and again the mod did not show up. I will reboot Windows and see what happens.

i dont know what iam doing wrong but i cant buy them more then once it says upgrade behind the weapon and i can only buy them once and then i cant buy more and i cant find them when i want to equip them can someone help me maybe? same with the laser pack i can research them and buy them once and then they are gone

Coilguns Research Project gets you Rifles, SMG's, and Pistols.
Prerequisites are Elerium Tech and Gauss Weapons.


What if I want the prerequisite is "Plasma Weapons"?

kinda wish this as a 4th tier of weapons. Where it better then plasma. As railguns like weapons are super destructive.

I love the look and sound of the coil sniper, and I've never really cared for either the plasma sniper or the Hunter's rifle aesthetically. That said, the Hunter's rifle is just too good not to use, particularly in the late game.

Could someone provide guidance on how to tweak the coil sniper such that it has the Hunter rifle's ability to fire using only one AP? I've tried to do it myself, but I have extremely limited coding/modding skills and haven't been able to manage it.

How do I alter the research times?
The research time for coilguns is 15 days, but basic plasma is 17.
I just want to balance my experience.

It seems that the Coil Guns don't interact that well with will Musashi RPG Overhaul. For example, there's this ability that allows a Class to fire their pistol without ending their turn. When using the Coil Pistol, the ability doesn't work. Plus the SMG's don't have the Marauder skill, but the extra mobility is way too good.

Is there a way to switch coilguns and plasma guns in the tech tree and their stats in War of The Chosen. I really like the look of the weapons compared to the vanilla plasma weapons.

The only hard requirement for this mod is War of the Chosen. If you want SMGs, then you also need the SMG pack linked in the sidebar.

This mod ports Coilguns from LW 2. If you're running LW 2 then you don't need this mod.

Not seeing the Subcoiler ingame, it's showing up as the Scramgun. also, if you ahve Primary Secondaries, the mainhand pistol shows up as a Beam Pistol, and Pistol Attachments (per mod everything) don't show up on Coil Pistols either for me.

Is there an animation for suppressing targets? I´m using a mod, there you have the suppression ability for this weapon but no animation when suppressing somebody...

is it possible to reduce the shreding these weapons do for soldiers that have the shredder ability? These weapons are tier 3 of 5 for me and they shred 5 armor already. Cheers

I know that last comment was almost a month ago, but you can change the cost on the Coilguns in the XComWotC_CoilGuns.ini file. I just changed the costs to somewhere between Magnetic and Plasmas of the same type.

With the guns not upgrading to plasma and the fact they're quite expensive to research (and come about the same type you can research plasma) this makes things a bit underwhelming to say the least. Still a cool mod though

@Wendersnaven: What they mean is the new Coil gun tier 2.5 is not upgrading to tier 3 plasma once purchased in Engineering (as it should).
Interestingly enough, Lago had a similar issue in his Coil/Plasma replacer mod. He said that the Coilgun port was changing T3 weapons to upgrade from lasers instead of magnetics (tier 2). Similar issue here?

Beam are beam; plasma, plasma; coil are coil. You have to edit the INI file if you want them to be as/more powerful than plasma, as they do not 'upgrade.'

Yea I second that on what the guy below said the coil gun is not upgrading to tier 3 plasma!

Not sure if this has been addressed but it seems that Coil Weapons are not properly being upgraded to beam versions. Just bought the beam rifle upgrades and the coil rifles stayed as coil. Dont know if anyone has found a fix for this.

Have a look for "Soldier Loadout Overhaul", it's designed for situations like yours from what I can tell.
