Part 1 very good and challenging as well. driver needs to be on the ball or disaster strikes, which makes it even better. used save several times. unhappily I derailed on the very last task, but this did not spoil the pleasure of a tough, challenging scenario. well done and thanks to the author.

Let me know how you make out.

hi ,i don,t give up that easy ,now where i went wrong make sure track in right place,i i start a run go all the way ,bri.
winston  [author] 10 Jan, 2015 @ 6:29am
It's not as easy as some scenarios but it can be completed correctly. Good luck if you try it again.
Just a note. I have found that a lot of scenarios won't work properly if started from a Save, Especially ones with AI trains that interact with the player.
b.eyre555 10 Jan, 2015 @ 6:21am
well . went all the way way on scenario the bit that suck,s got caught on last reverse,i must try better? bri.

Very nice scenario pt1, - thanks !
best regards

Cleared the cache from within TS but it did no good. Went to the library menu inside Steam and cleared it there. Worked. Thank you for a good ride. Look forward to many others.

Not sure what the problem is. It may be a glinch in the program.
EngineerKenny 123 10 Aug, 2014 @ 11:23am
I too had the same problem, and thus no check mark. But still a nice shunting scenario - in fact, it is a bit of a work out. Thanks for sharing the scenario.

Tried several times but could never get a green light after the first reverse at Portland.
winston  [author] 7 May, 2014 @ 4:53am
Thanks for your suggestion Paul. You may be right.
gasman222 10 Feb, 2014 @ 11:24am
Another fiendishly good scenario. I had no trouble with the switches, but I didn't stop long enough at a reverse point, so no check mark for me! Maybe I will try it again later, we all want those tick marks, right?! Really good stuff, you do like your switching Winston and it shows! So do we all, which is why we like your scenarios. Love all the AI traffic, except when they don't give way!!! Thanks again for all your efforts. I just saw your scenarios for the NEC and I may have to purchase the GE 44 tonner to run them!!
HighGround22 1 Feb, 2014 @ 3:55pm
Well, I finally got around to trying this promising set of scenarios, and I'm sorry I didn't start sooner! Switching -- along with "Locals" -- are my favourite types of scenario, and these are top of the line!
Great enjoyment, with a great need to pay attention and keep one's wits about him. Marvelous work, Winston! -Jon
winston  [author] 1 Nov, 2013 @ 8:46am
No problem. I'm glad you got it worked out.
gbach55 30 Sep, 2013 @ 7:48am
Hi Winston. I did find that switch and tried it. I tried to resume the play I had started and it still wouldn't... but on a complete retry it works! Thanks... sorry for the bad press... I will enjoy finishing!!
winston  [author] 28 Sep, 2013 @ 9:09pm
gbach55, Try changing the coupler setting to overide. They always couple for me.

tompallen, If you follow through the scenario the switching makes sense and is not pointless as you're setting things up for the next phase of the scenario. Not sure why you can't get to through but a reverse marker is not needed. Although I encourage comments both positive and negative the attitude you seem to display is one reason why many people have quit making scenarios for the workshop. I'll check out some of your scenarios.
gbach55 26 Sep, 2013 @ 4:49am
On a second try... I see why they won't couple. The UK stock has hooks for coupling whereas US stock has a knuckle coupler... Really sucks. It would be cool to be able to finish this scenario. What's the chances on it getting fixed???
gbach55 14 Sep, 2013 @ 6:12am
I can't figure out why, but when I get to Scarborough Sand to pick up the 3 coal cars then try to couple the other 5 UK cars... they won't couple. I have all the necessary assets and I have coupling set to auto. They won't couple auto or manually.... ????
tompallen 18 Aug, 2013 @ 4:08pm
I was enjoying this scenario (good use of AI, workers, etc.), but after going through all of that seemingly purposeless switching at the PT tracks, I couldn't get to the Portland 2 Marker. Blaming this on TS would be easy, but the author did not provide a reverse marker and so I blame this problem on him. Hopefully, the scenario works for some people, but I'm not going to read all the comments to find out. Thumbs down from me.
winston  [author] 26 May, 2013 @ 9:02am
Thank you. I try to use to use a little bit of "story telling" to make the scenarios more interesting. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
cisticola 20 May, 2013 @ 1:10am
Loved it. Lots of Loco activity & what I have noticed about your scenarios is there's plenty of dialogue. Excellent story telling!
winston  [author] 3 May, 2013 @ 4:38am
I hope you try the other parts and enjoy them. Number 6 is especially challenging.
Dremchief 29 Apr, 2013 @ 5:09pm
This to was a great senario I played # 2 first and they both are great thands
winston  [author] 14 Mar, 2013 @ 9:27pm
Glad to hear you got it figured out. The timing is really close on the one AI. Always a good thing to have good coffee and pastries.
Everman 13 Mar, 2013 @ 1:59pm
Very good scenario. Thanks.
keith.stroud.52 13 Mar, 2013 @ 10:56am
Hi Winston, the first time I ran this I had the same problem as cor726, luckily I had saved just before coming out from the field, so I went back and restarted from there. This time I stopped just short of the road crossing, allowed the countdown to run aand then I carried on forward until I cleared the switch and then reversed. AI then got a green and did its thing and all went well to the end. Now off for coffee and pastries at the transportation cafe!!
Thanks, Keith.
winston  [author] 25 Feb, 2013 @ 5:09pm
Thank you for the comments. I'm not sure what is up with the colors not changing. I ran into the same thing on a senario I played from someone else.
jaymac2 24 Feb, 2013 @ 5:52pm
A callenging series. Was not able to get a green tick for Pt.1. The first loading operation of 5 got tick as done but printing did not change from white to black letters. Not sure why as all cars were loaded. Anyway, well done!
dgclark1425 24 Feb, 2013 @ 10:13am
Once the coupling was taken care of -- I see that you have put allot of effort and time in this and I would like to thank you for it. Look forward the parts of this.
winston  [author] 23 Feb, 2013 @ 2:56am
Go to your main menu, click gameplay then make sure the auto matioc coupler option is checked.
dgclark1425 22 Feb, 2013 @ 5:03pm
Must be soo new, how are the UK stock at the gravel yard coupled together or is something else not working. thanks for your help
winston  [author] 15 Feb, 2013 @ 1:05pm
cor726,
I've never had that happen so I'm not sure what is going on. I'll load it up this week end and see if I can figure anything out for you.
If anyone else has had this problem or have any suggestions please post.
cor726 14 Feb, 2013 @ 6:11am
Hey Winston - I must be doing something wrong as when I do the first pickup from the stadium there is a AI Service 4 approaching the signal on the other side of the station. No matter what I do that train just sits at the signal. Then after I drop off and pickup the new consist the switches have changed and I have to edge past the red signal to be able to get onto the track back the stadium and then I am trapped. Service4 won't move and I cannot adjust the switches as they are locked by Service4. Seems to work for everyone else so I assume I am not doing something correctly. I ran it a second time and same thing happens - I was able to get Service4 a green signal by adjusting switches however it just sits there.

Loads of fun!! Super job with all the bells and whistles and little details.
winston  [author] 13 Feb, 2013 @ 5:14pm
n1qgm,

I'm glad it worked for you. I hadn't played Portland Terminal since right after I got it about a year ago. A few weeks ago after I got done with my Inspection Senarios for Donner Pass I opened a free roam in Portland Terminal and started looking around. I had fogotton or maybe not realised the first time how good a route it is. I love the little things, like how the switch arms are broke off in old yard 8.
I'll get to the job of the final tests for parts 5 and 6.
Thanks for playing and the comments.
N1QGM 13 Feb, 2013 @ 10:21am
Just re-ran Part 1 and completed successfully. Very fun run! I really enjoy switching scenarios, and this one is LOADED with switching challenges. Good AI traffic. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Very nicely done. PT is one of my fave routes.
Best,
Marc

I ran Part 1 and had an SBHH just as I decoupled from the last tank car on PTC1. Not faulting the scenario, just reporting behavior from my system. Haven't had a chance to try it again, but I'll run it on another machine and report back. Overall I like the scenario, it's involved and detailed and that's good. Well done.
whiskey219 12 Feb, 2013 @ 3:23pm
That was a really cool... good job with placing all the extra assets...thanks
winston  [author] 11 Feb, 2013 @ 9:00am
I had to pull part 2 because of a problem. I'll get it back up as soon as I can.
winston  [author] 10 Feb, 2013 @ 7:56pm
Thank you for your comments.

louis.dellaserra
The senario is timed pretty tight so if you get to a signal too soon or too late they can stay red. If you get a chance try it again and let me know if you get the same result.

Bob
I noted the UK stock in a message at Scarborough. I know it's not typical but I wanted to use a hopper where the load looked like dirt instead of coal.
Bob 9 Feb, 2013 @ 7:22pm
UK Rollingstock in Maine hmmm
louis.dellaserra 9 Feb, 2013 @ 12:00pm
Cool scenario. Noticed one or two red signals that I didn't get permission to pass...but otherwise flawless. Nice job! Look forward to the upcoming scenarios.
alan 9 Feb, 2013 @ 7:03am
Excellent Secenario. Looking forward to the rest.

This is part 1 of a 6 part set for Portland Terminal.
The set revovles around the last 2 weekends of May 1994.
You are part of a group of retired and part-time engineers that volunteer your time to help the Portland Sports Complex be a success. Baseball is in full swing at the new Hadlock Field and everyone is busy trying to get Fitzpatrick Stadium ready for the upcoming football season.
The set of senarios will play best and make the most sense if played in order. AI trains will be the most visible if you stay within the speed limits and don't rush.
The senarios are challenging so pay close attention to the Task List and to the instructions from Dispatch.
I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I did making them.
As always comments are appreciated.
