1.6?

Regular flames, such as those from burning wood, can't get hot enough to melt most metals though.
Vril 8 Oct, 2024 @ 5:12am
Metals might not be flammable but the walls made from them should be meltable once appropriate temperature is reached.

Watching one imp set fire to my fields after downing my colonists, then watching the fire spread to my colonists setting them on fire, then watching the fire spread to my steel buildings followed by many explosions and the colonist with Paralytic Abasia getting set on fire. Nothing was left.

Thank you for making this.

There could be a chance of that, I will make a note to look into it. No promises though!

Great mod, just wondering if there's any chance of this mod also covering bioferrite
Magical Liopleurodon  [author] 18 Apr, 2024 @ 5:50pm
Probably not; I haven't had to make actual changes to this mod in a long time, I just update the about.xml.

If you know how to edit XML files, you could continue that mod yourself. But you could also just keep using that mod for 1.5, if you don't mind.

Is it possible to have a version with reduced flammability? I'm looking for a replacement for this mod since the author is retiring it. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=933177655&searchtext=less+flammable+metals

Anything that doesn't exothermically react shouldn't combust, but then again, it's a game. It's up to the people how to tweak it to make it "semi-realistic" or simply fantasy.

Some people prefer to imagine the burning mechanic to also represent melting (although that would be a bit of a weird one) while others might think of the insulation being made practically so cheaply that it doesn't get its own representation in the gameplay.

I personally am happy enough that the community is so willing to provide us these options to tweak things and reference on how to mod things via XML or C# etc.

Counter-argument: In-game, conduits are made of 100% steel. No other material is used to make them. So I'd assume they're mostly or all steel. The author of the Conduits Don't Burn mod argued quote, "...burning one cable in half wouldn't destroy the wiring in an entire base" - which is a thing that can happen in-game because, apparently, conduit burns like a fuse.

Also: Fire-resistant (and even fire-proof) insulation for wires are a thing. And while many homes have wiring inside PVC plastic conduits, some use steel tubing instead. (I've personally witnessed steel conduit installed in a building under construction.)

Besides, not even PVC catches fire that easily - unless the fire gets super hot. And it's not like a fuse that burns along it's length once lit. Some plumbers use fire - like a blow torch - to repair PVC pipe or to soften and then bend it into a curve to go around corners or tight spaces.

Conduits I'd argue have flammable insulation
Thundercraft 11 Sep, 2021 @ 8:37am
That moment when you realize there are no less than 3 separate mods - updated for use in 1.3 - which make metal stuff not be flammable... and yet not one of them make conduits non-flammable, even though they're made of steel. :lunar2020sweatrat:

BTW: I see that this mod also makes Jade not flammable. I have no objection. Except, this was not even mentioned in the mod description. It even suggested that this only affects Steel, Plasteel, Silver and Gold. :steamfacepalm:

Just wanted to say, I support the protesters who are overwhelmingly non-violent! The memorial day killing of George Floyd was not an isolated incident, it was a symptom of the racism in our country.

No worries. Actually did some research with another modder. Turns out....swamps DO burn.
Magical Liopleurodon  [author] 24 Feb, 2020 @ 4:15pm
I'll eventually be updating this to 1.1.

As for swamp doesn't burn, that's outside the scope of this mod--I want to keep it laser focused. Other than that, I have enough to maintain.
velcroboy333 30 Oct, 2019 @ 9:06pm
How would you feel about creating a Swamp Doesn't Burn mod? If it was a bog producing methane I could understand but I feel like swamps aren't that prone to burning.

So looking at other versions posted on the steam workshop of what this does -- you did it right. =D
Magical Liopleurodon  [author] 30 Sep, 2019 @ 1:05pm
Yeah, workshop is complete garbage. I've had to write plenty of workaround scripts for other games. Lacking basic version control is a pretty glaring oversight.
&(*null) 30 Sep, 2019 @ 8:36am
Nah dude, you're good. Steam workshop modding is NOTHING like I'm used to so even when I'm digging through files to try and see what's being done and how things can be done... It's difficult. I prefer the good old fashion download a file, extract the file. place wanted contents in folder or insert extracted wanted contents into game file, and enjoy.

Steamworkshop sucks for documentation and doing such things.... Great for easy mode --- But modding everything from Minecraft beta 0.8 to Mario cart Skyrim (rainbow island is super glitchy still) is anything but simple.
Magical Liopleurodon  [author] 30 Sep, 2019 @ 8:06am
I hope I'm not coming off as snippy. I'm just not going to put more effort into responding to a question than the asker gives.

If someone asks "This mod isn't compatible with X mod. When that mod is enabled, steel becomes flammable", then I'll be happy to answer. But when someone asks me a question and doesn't even give me the name of the mod they're asking for, I'm not going to answer.
Magical Liopleurodon  [author] 30 Sep, 2019 @ 8:00am
Basically, if you don't trust "Clean and compatible with everything." why would you trust anything else I say? If you're not going to trust that, I'd expect you to have actual experience of my mod causing an issue.

This mod is just a few lines of surgically focused XPATH patches. If another mod makes this mod stop working, it's because that mod is filthy.
Magical Liopleurodon  [author] 30 Sep, 2019 @ 7:53am
Yeah, I don't remember if I modified Jade or not, or its flammability when I made this mod almost 2 years ago. I didn't respond to the question about production of coal, because this mod is "Clean and compatible with everything."

It doesn't overwrite any materials, it overwrites the flammability of those materials. Hence, "Clean and compatible with everything.". It certainly doesn't touch recipes.
&(*null) 30 Sep, 2019 @ 3:51am
Side note to anyone curious, it's literally just an xml file and searching "Jade" results in the exact same structure. So this has either already been updated OR it didn't actually "change" anything.
&(*null) 30 Sep, 2019 @ 3:31am
@Magical Liopleurodon, Since we don't get updates unless we subscribe to the thread -- I wouldn't expect 25th Legend to respond.
According to the rimwrold wiki and a vanilla in game experience Jade has a 0 for its Flammability stat.

I think what they were asking was to unedit any changes made to jade for compatibility with outher mods.
