If this mod is still being maintained, you should add a test to the patches instead of using direct patches for this use case. If you do so it removes compatibility issues with some other mods.

I have to agree with ghostrdr213:
It would be better if Hylotl were made to be able to hold their breath for longer. Compared to other races, a mere boost to swimming mobility seems a bit weak. Even the Novakids' glow effect and Avians' higher jump seems better as those are always useful in most environments.

After FrackinRaces was discovered to have a wild edit (missing reference to FrackinUniverse item) that can potentially crash the game, i found this mod and immediately subscribe this.

I tried to add some of these to other custom races but it isn't working for some reason. Is patching vanilla files different from mod files?

The Novakid like effect feels really week compared to the rest
I might suggest that each race gets one ability, and a resistance.

Apes get the energy regen and poison resistance 20%, as they do seem to like to hang out around it.

Birds get fall damage resistance*, and resistance to cold 20%, feathers are warm.
*Maybe even fall immunity, and or possibly jump boost, birds are light, probably will need some tinkering to get good.

Plants, Thorns, and poison resistance, possibly regen in sun*... they are plants.
*if possible, or just a slow regen if not, plants are surprisingly resilient.

Robits, Damage Resistance 20% Elemental resistance 20%. They are metal.

Fish, Swimming, and cold resistance 20%, deep water gets cold.

Nova, Light, electric and cold resistance 10%. Plasma is hot, and lightning is plasma.

Humans, health regen, and a minor resistance to everything 5%, humans are not so much resistance and we are resilient.

i know this is not related, but can you make certain people on different planets be racist to different types of playable characters, like you might get less rewards or more depending on if they like your kind.

Yeah I wouldn't mind one like this but there are racial weaknesses as well as bonus. Hylotl should have increased breath underwater, as others have suggested; Avians less fall damage because they're lighterl; Glitch having poison immunity too on top of its fire immunity unless poison in this game is corrosive type damage kind which case I guess nevermind and increased base defense stat due to them being made of tougher material than squishy humans like one guy suggested; when raining and bright sun out, it heals florans(therefore the most effective way to kill these guys is at night on a day that isn't raining...);

Man this should have been in the base game to start with.....why didn't the devs add it in??!

For glitch, what is the resistance percentage to fire? Or is it 100% ie you take absolutely no damage from fire, even stand or swimming in lava?

I've been busy with college and my job as well, which is why I've stopped modding for all games. I can understand that these things can prevent people from doing this stuff as often as they would normally do. I even cancelled projects I was working on for games because they were big time consuming projects. If anything, I don't mind. Life is always a priority over entertainment.

Can you make a version of this mod with each of the abilities not being OP. They are a slight bit overpowered. Each of these ideas is very good if properly implemented.
15% bonus damage is a lot, even for Floran. 25% resist all damage is a lot, for any being, not just human, and thats impossible. Glitch aren't immune to fire, this is supported in the game Lore. The game Lore does suggest they somewhat resistant to fire. Apex have no stated super fast rapid energy gain in Lore, but they could create technology that could give them that, yet, that would have to be an item mod. If Apex have 4 times their current energy regen, thats absurd.
The Avian and Hylotl thing might actually be the only balanced fair logical things in this mod. I'll have to download and check. I might be wrong. You might have given Avians and Hylotl 3 times jump and swim.

I would suggest Avians also getting reduced fall damage or a slower descending speed, because jumping around better doesn't mean much if you die from it.

Hylotl should also have longer breath or just infinite.

Others are pretty appropriate, but if you wanted to make each race wholly unique there are tons of cool ideas that you could use from their lore to seperate each of them more.

I agree with Ghostfox. Hylotl should have a much longer breathing time. That's one of the reasons I'm hesitant to install. I mean the rest are perfect, but really the Hylotl thing puts me off a bit. Anyway, good concept and thanks for contributing to the modding community. :)

Hylotl racial passive seems weak and mostly useless. Meanwhile Florans and Humans are really strong. Also Does Floran damage buff stack with other damage buffs, for example 100dps x 1,15 = 115 dps and then 115 x 2 = 230dps. This mod alone makes me want to replay and mess around in Starbound a great idea and very reminiscent of wow.

@ThatOneDuck, I could package non-vanilla races into the main mod without any conflict since I work in patch files that won't do anything if the file they patch isn't there, I just haven't had time to add them in yet with my current school work situation.

Some people don't like to install different races so it might be better, if you are going to make more race abilities, to make a new mod entirely to avoid problems with the non-vanilla races.

If you could, it would be nice to see what penguins, avali, avikan, droden, and so on, could do. These are all player created races, so you would have to look up their lore to fit the race ability. This would be so cool if you could do one for Avali!

@d.kall If the server has it installed, all players and npcs will be effected for everyone.
If not, the players in each client that has the mod installed will be effected, but none of the npcs and no players that don't have the mod. i.e. if you have a glowing novakid, everyone will see the glow. but if they don't have the mod, their novakid will not glow for anyone.
