Sure, do whatever. Although I think my current implementation would horribly lag behind. And any decent implementation seems like a compatibility nightmare.

Yeah, I hope to be able to properly take advantage of job system. I am also considering "Gameplay altering civics" mod - I got a few ideas that would require extensive manipulations of game mechanics, and I might merge Soul Eaters there. Right now, I'm going to try and play vanilla 2.2 for a while to better understand how it works.

I recently concluded a war with a Soul Eater empire and, on taking their planets, all their pops immediately disappeared and I was left with a bunch of empty, but now colonisable, planets. Is that WAI?

I think I revisit this all when 2.2 hits, and see if I could use various new elements for better mechanics. New colossi was an idea that always interested me, so would be new vortex mechanics.

I have some suggestions to make the soul eater civic more interesting. 1.a colusses that devours the souls of all biological on a planet but leaving said planet untouched. 2. a total war wargoal because if your society is dependent on the souls of other creatures I doubt you would care much about claims and just want to eat the souls right away. 3. allow hiveminds and machine intelleginces to use the civic maybe add a twist for them like for machine intellegiences they need to have souls and if they dont have souls a random pop might die on each planet a year because they are not being powered by souls.

The version had been updated to 2.1

No actual changes to the files had been made, the mod should work perfectly fine on both 2.0 and 2.1

Being critical-
Zro gives FTL speed, sensor range and hyperlane range.
I guess, now that 2.1 is out and reduces the frequency of strategic resources, the value of having a free zro increases. But it still comes back to whether or not there is a zro or 2 deposit within your empire range- and also assuming you can't trade for it. So both combined are still not motivation enough for me to take touched by the shroud. I'd only have the mod enabled for the soul eater race and nothing else the way it is now.

Being positive, the whole idea of the mod is obviously unique, and I'm really happy that it is being maintained. it's a niche that needs filling and fleshing out if PDX doesn't want to at this stage.

I don't have much to say about the soul eaters. But I agree with another poster.
It seems touched by the shoud is a while civic point and only gives you psionic research?
Should be a bigger bonus. Such as a partnership with shroud expanded. touched by the shroud gets expanded access compared to everyone else.

I think Soul Eater should be buffed. Instead of being locked out of psionic theory and ascension they should start with both to make them a force to be reckoned with. As is, when controlled by the AI my Soul Eaters always do abbysmally.

After all, how could they eat people's souls without such a connection to the Shroud?

The whole point of wasting a civic slot it to be able to get psionic research as materialist. Why would you waste 1 civic as spiritualist for something you are guaranteed to get? Materialist only get access to psionics if they stuble upon a very rare anomaly.

I don't think it's really something I want to do, but if you feel like getting into modding yourself, ripping out the civic file and replacing its requirements should do the trick. All the interactions are tied to the civic, so you should be able to make it work with ease.

Although it would probably be harder, as your food would probably die or leave faster.

hi there! This mod is absulutely amazing! I love it in combination with the hollow portraits and ship sets mod! Meaning I can have the astral horror traiot along with soul eaters civic!

But, I have only one problem. It isnt much of a problem, but more of a request really.
I want my soul eater empire to be a hivemind! If it isn't too much of a hassle, would it be possible to make the soul eater civic a hivemind compatible? Or maybe a duplicate of that civic which activates when hivemind is selected?

Not at all (In fact, I wouldn't recommend it)

At the start of each year, you'll have your sustenance counter recalculated. First, each of your soul eater pops will decrease it (Won't go below zero), then each non-eater will increase it and receive negative modifiers. Might take you a few years, depending on how deep you are into hunger, but nobody ever complained it didn't work.

More specifically, mechanism is following: Once you call the vortex, it will pick a planet that has 4 soul eater pops and isn't your capital and mark it as desired for a year. It will only accept it if it still meets those conditions, but no longer owning it will force it to re-pick it.

Finally, if you have a planet full of xenos, why would you need to sell a planet anyway? You are getting your dinner soon.

It's actually meant to eat planets where your main species lives, as payment.

I'm busy with my other projects now, but if (when) I get back to all this, I might think of somewhat better system. But I can't imagine "menu" working.

Could you put in a menu that allows you to select which planet you want to be taken? It's kind of a downer when the bleak vortex always tries to take my agri worlds instead of enslaved planets full of xenos.

That's what I tried to do, but calculating eligible countries killed my FPS.

I'll try again later with better conditions. Although I'm also considering giving them CB that feeds them, damages the losing empire but does not automatically cedes anything.
