Because skyrim is a lot more of a simulation than a game, i reckon this actually fixes it quite a bit.

Can you make a mod in which the compass is just gone all together?

Where is the download button? I've already subscribed

This should have been in the game from the start.

Amazing, exactly what I wanted to add some immersion into my game.

edit: doesn't remove the compass, just the quest markers from it

If anyone else liked the system for morrowind where you had to actually pay attention to the directions you were given to the location you were supposed to be slaughtering bandits at, I highly recommend this mod be used in conjunction with even better quest objectives. EBQO gives the detail needed to find the location without a marker, and this mod removes the compass.

it would be nice if you could turn the mod on and off, for example I like exploring the wilderness by my instinct but would prefer if I could nav the more urban areas more easily.
just a thought

iHUD on Nexus [skyrim.nexusmods.com] is probably the perfect mod for you.

It does hide my marker too.
After trying this mod I preferred to hide the whole compass and rely on my instincts to explore (which means, opening the map every 5 seconds).
Anyway, if the map shows you're in the right direction, find a reference in the sky to guide you: a mountain, for instance.
It is not possible to navigate looking at the stars in skyrim but that is one of the many ideas this mod has inspired.

Right now, I disabled the compass in SkyrimPrefs.ini

Love this mod! Discovering new locations is so much more fun!

You know what could really make me happy? A mod where you rip the entire compass off the game and could turn it back on with a something like light switch 'r something in the escape menu. I haven't found one on Steam Workshop yet, but this is the closest I can find for now, and I think I'll google for a compass-remover later. The lask of that oblong,... grey bar with odd items and letters glued to it would be good for realism, and it would be fun to turn it back on when my laziness kicks in.

Would it be nice if you made a option to turn the whole compass hud off and use it to make screenshots? Then turn it back on or if you like it off then have it off?

Works great for me, have had installed sense day one of playing on PC. and to DeAllen 1989, there is some other mod that does what you are looking for, it makes the compas a "true compass" in the sense that it removes everything except n, e, s, w.

doesn't download from steam

could you make one where it get's rid of quest markers on your compass but not on your map, i like the idea of exploring and having to check your map for places marked on your map. but i can't have things marked on my map with out it also being on my compass.

Thanks ! Wanted to find dungeons by myself, it's finally possible.

I kind of like it (gave it a +1) but unfortunately my view distrance is a bit low so only the grandest of structures in the plains stand out...

I'd like to see a different compass design. As you can see on the screenshot you can only just barely see two letters at a time, and there are no division markers. As a stop gap it would be nice if we could have NE, SE, SW, and NW. :-)

I'm starting my first game and this was immediately annoying. I'd beeline straight to the new location on my compass without actually exploring. Problem solved.

That sounds pretty good. I might make a different version.

You should still add markers that you have already found, and just remove the "greyed", otherwise cool idea for people that want to discover !
