I don't know. If I was making it again today, I would make it something where the unenchanted ones can be gotten by anyone who has completed Old Friends and only the ones with the enchantment from the archmage's robe also require being archmage.

wy do we have to be the arch-mage to get the robes can't we jast get the robed

oh people, just stop whining and do the quests for Master Neloth, they are really NOT that hard at all. Then you can get the nice ones, not the horrible ones avalable in the game. Or, consle command them.

Oh much thanks for the good Telvanni robes, I can wear the nice ones as a female, not the blood spattered ones you loot from the quest at last. Good thing I did the quest to be of House Telvanni, I did not pay atention to that detail, lol

one small glitch, when I tried to enchant the unenchanted telvanni robes, it showed a gigantic version of it on scree. Big enough to cover what enchantment I was putting. I just rotated the model to see it but just to save future subscribers from heart attacks, try to fix this humorous glitch. Thanks

For those complaining about just wanting the robes, why not just use console commands to unlock and/or clip through any barriers which require certain keys? For the telvanni robes, you could always use commands to advance the quest stage to finished, and then reset it afterwards....

Frankly, having quest requirements is dumb, I just want the freaking robes. I want to do missions while wearing them not jump through hoops to get them.

Yes. If it did not, it would breach the rules. Also it would have been much harder to make.

I really like these robes. These are the first decent mage robes I`ve seen. The orginal ones are horrid! Then they started using these with a hand on them with that terrible front with the stiff front that was stupid and not the least bit impressive or anything natural.. The mage robes would be better to be a more flowing robe than any other we have seen and in colors that identify the type mage you are. As you increase in power and status a stripe of trim would be at the hem of the robe to show your rank. The archmage robes should have a glow, that no other robe has. Each mage should wear a removable hood to match his robe. When a mage becomes the highest level of the type magic they practice, they would wear a flat, golden scarf (like the Pope) around their neck. How I do go on, but I have been interested in this topic for 40 years.
