I will probably end up updating the .mod file sooner or later, but I have quite a few mods here and let's just say I'm not looking forward to having to update them all for no real reason other than to make a small symbol disappear.
If it really bothers you, you can edit descriptor.mod located in my mods' .zip files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\394360 (or whatever the path is on your system).
See the description for my rationale:
"I decided to keep the imperial roundel (black-silver-red) on the lower part of the cap, which is different than how it was on the First World War uniform of Germany, where the roundel of the applicable German state is on the lower part and the imperial roundel on the upper part. This is because I wanted to keep the oak leaves around the imperial roundel, and it seemed to me that the roundel with the oak leaves around them should be the most important one (so the imperial one)."
Also, if I get around to it, they won't include proper rank insignia (I'll just remove the German ones). I've tried some things but it's too difficult for me.
The hard part is that Kaiserreich uses simple colourised pictures, whereas vanilla uses drawings; so if you'd just add my pictures to the main game it would be pretty jarring.
However, I've made progress in a new, vanilla-style, mod. All the navy portraits are alreadtly done, and the army portraits that don't feature a cap (because all you need to do there is remove the symbol from the uniform jacket).
I can't help but feel you folks are looking for the first best occasion to complain about some senseless non-issue.
