Also Turning the Connector BOT off seems to help it work as well

to fix set timer block 6 from 2 seconds to 5 seconds, have tested am seems to work as of June 2025

Working just fine in 2023. Start the process, once the bottom ring retracts its merge block and connector, convert it to a ship. Don't know if the timing is necessary, but that's what made sense to me to do, and it worked first try for me.

@firekill222 there is a button in the seating area of the main platform (the one with the ship dock). The scripts will take it from there.

There is such a problem: when I am at the bottom, and the elevator is already being built somewhere at an altitude of 1.5 km, then for some unknown reason it breaks and falls. What is the reason for this?

For me this doesnt work, the welders are way too slow, it builds the first few block but after that the welders can't keep up. + the ring was already a ship (was confused if it was or not).

I love this as a ground station for my tower! I was able to get up to 3km with my own tether design, but I used this for the base and it's awesome.

So my elevator got attacked by pirate ships while I was about 10% out of atmosphere, and now... I don't think I'm going to try this project again. ... But it's kind of cool.

If you suggest that the bottom wasn't turned into ship, you're wrong, we used creative mode and it was. So if didn''t understood why pistons don't move, it seemed that the welders were too near from the structure at first. But after we removed it, the structure left too high without any build and couldn't be back downstairs. Any other suggestion to help ?

I wonder if there's some way I could circumvent that limit... maybe starting another grid halfway up via some more rotors and connectors, or something like that.. in creative it'd be easy enough to start a new static grid in the sky but I don't think I can be so lucky in survival. Either way, thanks for the information at least. I'll still proceed skyward, but if it all falls apart at least I'll know that outcome was likely.

There is a physics size limit, so on moons it would work, for planets its more of a proof of concept

LOL fuck that sounds like fun. And by fun I mean a nightmare. Are four rotors capable of supporting as much weight as required to actually get this thing into space? I know I've seen this thing in the promotional videos for the game but it never showed out of atmosphere, so as far as I know it might never have actually got there by anyone.

The rotor part was because of a bug that turned the whole thing into a ship when it did the climbing motion, even when inside voxel, that caused massive explosions, so the rotor parts were the lesser evil

That aside, this build is awesome so far, and it's been both a pain in my ass and a delight (for that reason) to work on in survival. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can really get to space with this!

I've been busy trying to get this to work in Survival, it's been a process let me tell you. Especially considering the projector inhibition of only projecting one grid. OOF. But I've basically got it finished, and just started ascending. Completed my first length, the pistons were moving a bit too fast so the welders missed some stuff, I took care of that and slowed down the pistons this time.
I had a question after starting to move this thing.
What was your reasoning for using rotor blocks at the base of the tower to hold it up? As far as I can tell, this is just begging for Lord Klang to come strike my tower down halfway through actually getting to space, as I can see the tower wobbling as I start ascending. I had half a mind to go against your design and just use a solid block foundation, but I wanted to see what your idea was about so I went with it.

Every time I try to build a tether, the builder falls off after I think its failing to merge at about 1 km off the ground

there are two timers with a really big delay
double that, and halve the speed of the three main pistons

I am not very good with all these Timer Blocks and the interlinking with other blocks its too much for my little head.
Could you post a "How to", on slowing down the movement of the Pistons and related timings of the Welders, Connectors and Merge Blocks??

I thought i would see if it would work in Survival Mode,
So i stared new Creative Mode Game, pasted it in, switch the game over to Survival.
Gathered some Ores and made all the necessary Components (ie 1000 of each)
Started it up...
It got up 1 level then the Welders Started to miss a hole load of the Steel Block, some times Conveyor tubes, it either did a partial build of the Blocks or did not do them at all,

I then re-loaded the save and added more welders, (had the on constantly), thinking that the Welders could not keep up with the fast moving Pistons/Still, the same issue still happens,

Could it be that in Survival the Build rate of the Welders is Far Lower than in Creative???

WELDERS dosnt work and as result all system crashed. I checked a script and was four errors

ONLY WORKS IN CREATIVE MODE. Even if you paste it into Survival using Admin tools, it will not work.

Its probably to do with how you paste it. the planet surface is not actually where the planet is, so stuff pasted a few meters up may be spawned as a static grid

recreating my own bare-bones version for this beauty. but i'm having trouble with the projector bit. (I've read through 9 pages of the comments, but they're all about other stuff.) I've got about 90/95% of the timings and stages set. but when it comes to moving the projector, it deletes the blueprint even if i have it set to keep blueprint. any advice?

ok for those looking to use this in survival the only way to input the blueprint is to enable creative in admin menu and place it. if you are using this in survival there will need to be a few things done you will either have to slow down the pistons controling the welding section or set welding efficiancy at least 2x the default. if you run into the problem once you place the blueprint and start the building nothing happens and the thing falls apart you will have to make sure the bottom connector is locked befor you start the building program.

probably, but you'd still need to rewire the logic. it would be wiser to try to understand how this machine works and recreating it in survival since bp building is a pain in this game
