@mireg: I uploaded the model and texture files here [drive.google.com]. You can use those to make a new asset in asset editor that looks like the bright version. I think the diffuse texture file is the old brighter one. If it isn't you can modify it to your liking.

I'm not 100 % sure whether the model there is the static or ferry version. The difference is that the ferry version is a bit smaller because full size model didn't function properly as a ferry. If the model is wrong, check Avanya's guide on retexturing models .

If you (or anyone else here) re-textures or modifies the model and uploads it, please let me know and mark me as a co-author.

Is there a chance i could get the old bright version?

@tomymarth, Silja Europa is the ship that answered M/S Estonia's mayday call and initially lead the rescue effort. Europa was the second ship to arrive at Estonia's sinking position after M/S Mariella. Several other ships and rescue helicopters also arrived later to the scene.

Of the 989 people on board, 137 survived. Helicopters rescued 104 of them. Sinking of Estonia is the deadliest peacetime shipwreck in European waters.

this is the ship that saved estonia i think

Omg oh wow, thank you soo much! My life is complete now Lol.
Karumäki  [author] 5 May, 2020 @ 10:58am
ryan.hudson: this is just a decorative building without any functionality, as said in the description. The cruise ship version, also listed in description, has in-game passenger capacity of 150. Or if you mean the real life version, that can carry about 3000 passengers.
ryan.hudson 5 May, 2020 @ 9:02am
What are the specs for this ship? Passenger capacity?
Plaxci 5 May, 2020 @ 8:06am
Would it be too demanding to do a new asset altogether, a new cargo ship like the one i mentioned in the link? If it is i perfectly understand.
Karumäki  [author] 5 May, 2020 @ 8:01am
Plaxci, sorry I forgot your request. I'm not quite sure if you meant that you wanted a car carrier ship like in your link or this asset as cargo ship.

I meant earlier that Silja Europa as cargo ship is doable, and I just released it: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1285953497 .

A totally new and different ship asset is also doable but at the moment I don't have the motivation nor the inspiration for it.
Plaxci 5 May, 2020 @ 7:04am
Thanks for the vehicle version ionwind, much appreciated really. Is it possible to still have the cargo version?

Yatem: I did some testing around the time I released this asset. I came to the conclusion that there is some kind of maximum length for passenger ships in game. I suppose I could try to shorten the asset a bit and see if I can get it working.
Yatem 4 May, 2020 @ 7:38pm
This is an amazing model! Any luck with getting it to work as a passenger ship?
Plaxci 9 Dec, 2019 @ 9:53am
Oh awesome! Yes! A version that acts as a cargo ship, and perhaps two ploppable versions: say one version has the car deck ramps lowered and another without them lowered. I found something that might be of help, here; https://www.hoeghautoliners.com/news-and-media/news-and-press-releases/hoegh-trotter-delivered
Karumäki  [author] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 11:52pm
Plaxci Dzine™: Ah, cargo ship is doable. I might do that in the near future. What do you mean by free standing version? This asset but with car deck ramps lowered?
Plaxci 8 Dec, 2019 @ 11:52am
It can perhaps have the looks of it and function as a normal cargo ship? That's still great. Or even a free standing version is alright. Just mainly for the eisthetics.
Karumäki  [author] 8 Dec, 2019 @ 11:38am
Plaxci Dzine™: As far as I know game mechanics don't allow vehicle carrying ships. Maybe with some heavy modding but that's out of my league.
Plaxci 5 Dec, 2019 @ 10:00am
Would it be possible to make a vehicle carrier ship? That's one type of ship i don't see very often.
Karumäki  [author] 4 Sep, 2019 @ 10:26am
Pirazel: If I understand correctly what you are asking, I don't remember which asset I used as the template. It might have been the shipwreck asset.

I think it could work if you just subscribe to this asset and use it as a template.
Pirazel 4 Sep, 2019 @ 10:09am
This is the bes solution for a large ship I have seen on the works shop. Is it based on a building? Please tell me how you did it. I'm going to make a large cargo ship and I want it to do in the same way.
Karumäki  [author] 18 Jan, 2019 @ 10:22pm
<dUmB>Armageddon: There is no vehicle version unfortunately (yet). I tried making it a vehicle but there are apparently some limits on how big a passenger ship can be. This model is just too long and if won't function properly as a passenger ship.

This could be maybe solved by just shortening the ship a bit, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
<dUmB>Armageddon 17 Jan, 2019 @ 2:49pm
Many good times there :)

Is there a vehicle version available as well? Can not find it anywhere :/

Froggy_N: there is a some kind of a limit how long a passenger ship can be. I'll probably have to shorten the ship about 20 m to make it function. It's on my todo list.
Froggy_NL 14 Feb, 2018 @ 11:38am
Nice work! :) Thumbs up +1. Looks amazing. Is there going to be a functional vehicle (ship) version also?
Hrafninn Fjordur 30 Jan, 2018 @ 12:57pm
Beautiful!
EnSnellHest 30 Jan, 2018 @ 12:03pm
I see a change! Cheers mate :)
Karumäki  [author] 30 Jan, 2018 @ 11:27am
EnSnellHest: thanks for noticing the purple color. I had indeed screwed up something with the color variations (there should be none): https://imgur.com/a/4LDnx

I will update the models shortly.
Pirazel 30 Jan, 2018 @ 9:51am
@ [Delta ²k5] Large ships do not work well with the floating shader. There LOD model snaps to the ocean floor. small boats are ok. You can't see it. But the big ones jump around and deform.
EnSnellHest 30 Jan, 2018 @ 9:28am
Heya Ionwind!
Well the strange thing is that no other assets display this purple color, they're all white.
Anyway if you could fix it it would be awesome! :)
Thank you again for this nice asset, planing on doing any other ships?
Karumäki  [author] 30 Jan, 2018 @ 8:31am
EnSnellHest, that might be up to the LUT you're using. I've been using VIVID LUT and Daylight Classic mod. But now when you said it, I think I also see some extra purple tint. I might consider fixing that in the near future.
Karumäki  [author] 30 Jan, 2018 @ 8:18am
[Delta ²k5], I respectfully disagree, though. If the pivot was any higher, then the lowest windows would be submerged from time to time. Also, if you take a look at this timelapse for example, you'll see that ships of that magnitude really don't bob much, especially when they're moored in a harbor.

If the modding community or CO comes up with something that limits the bobbing I consider changing the shader :)
EnSnellHest 30 Jan, 2018 @ 8:11am
Love it...bit strange colors though? Mine is in a tone of purple?
[Delta ²k5] 30 Jan, 2018 @ 7:55am
Still I like the looks of it floating this way somehow :) you could set the pivot higher in respect to the object (in z-direction) so it will sit deeper in water - this way the bulbous bow won't go above the surface. I think, personally, you should release that version too :) (I'd place it into some harbor with calm water I think, so it would only gently do this movement)
Karumäki  [author] 30 Jan, 2018 @ 7:48am
[Delta ²k5], I tried the floating shader, but the problem is, the larger the object is the more it bobs, see: https://imgur.com/i1whMmM
[Delta ²k5] 30 Jan, 2018 @ 7:39am
Nice job, I'd love the true-ship version of it! The vanilla ship is way too small :)

Btw. you could use the floating (prop) shader used on buoys in game so the ship will always be on the waters surface ;)
albertofuji 29 Jan, 2018 @ 6:16pm
fantastic, thank you
