You need to export the vtf with vtfedit and then edit it with an image manipulation program of your choice.

ive spent hours sifting through tge files and i cant figure out how to eddit the origional skin

Sorry, there is no template. I created this retexture by editing the original texture. You'd have to do that too, to see where everything goes.
