Yes, he may look different than his first appearance in Sonic 2 (1992), but still. Too bad SEGA forgot Eggman had him with Metal Sonic back in Adventure.

"Mecha-Sonic, nicknamed "Silver Sonic" by the community to differentiate them from their Sonic 3 & Knuckles counterpart is one of the final bosses from Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
Fought in Death Egg Zone, it is a slightly bulkyer, more robot-looking version of Metal Sonic, but with less independance than their S3&K version, as they had to be short-range controlled by Dr. Robotnik.
With a Spin Dash, jump and hover attacks, they were perfectly armed to fight against the Blue Blur, It didn't go too well tough..."
