Cramps 16. sep. 2024 kl. 7:48
Unfortunately while a good idea, it's too choppy or simply does not work. Project has been abandoned anyway.
Pyro from TF2 8. sep. 2024 kl. 1:14
Where are the candle models from?
Bad Company 30. dec. 2023 kl. 20:49
I use this particle and it works but, for some reason it has this square effect around it. Any fix?

For those who have trouble getting the particle to show in the map, make sure under Draw Tool Objects that Particles is checked when right-clicking the viewport window.

for those for whom this works, I am happy that you got it functioning. For those who cannot get it, I am sorry for a lack of explanation or faulty files. I have retired from SFM , so what you get is what you get sadly :(

This doesn't work. The singular spot light has a white circular glow around it. How do we remove that?
GP 7. sep. 2021 kl. 14:05
I've seen a couple people ask how to get rid of the candles glare, if you don't want the shine/glow effect; First right click on the candle particle and click on instance particle system , then repeat the previous step but this time the instance particle system should be replaced with edit particle system Definition , hover over the edit particle system Definition and select candleset_bigflareyellow . Now a window called Particle System Editor should have appeared, look for Initializer under System Properties , there you will find and click on Lifetime Random . From there all you have to do is set Lifetime_max & Lifetime_min to zero. Hope this helped :winter2019happyyul:. Also read the the owners description on which particles to use

The particle isn't working or showing up at all
ShadowUltimate 30. juni 2021 kl. 13:04
Many people asked but i need to repeat, is there a way to deactivate the weird glare?
ThatUserKai 14. dec. 2020 kl. 9:00
Is there a way to remove the glare?
The Kamoron 27. okt. 2020 kl. 17:59
this is a fantastic particle but that screen glare ruins it, could you maybe add a toggle to turn that off?
Просто_ Парень 14. juni 2020 kl. 4:55
Can it have a Blue light in the Beginning
Bee 30. maj 2020 kl. 10:34

For anyone searching for a candle model..
Just take this lantern model below.
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=398579379&searchtext=candle
And there's a candle inside it that you can separate from the lantern itself, there you go.. you have a candle.

Galilal 21. juli 2019 kl. 0:42
Where did you get the candle model?
Trisha 22. juni 2019 kl. 10:39
It's neat in the beginning, but after few secs a hue appears around the flame, which is nice, but it looks like a square...
Thotiana 22. apr. 2019 kl. 17:34
where da candle model at?
Charrumon 28. jan. 2019 kl. 20:14
lol nice
Zachariah  [ophavsmand] 28. jan. 2019 kl. 19:25
It was like, 10 minutes. basically I did 10 sets of candles in a cluster arrangement (each candle is 5 candles, so 10x5=50 , and my candles make a 50 candle flames in 1 particle option. ) so I have 10 models and 1 particle to create a complete 50 candle block. Then I copy and paste the block around 5 times. then I copy ALL of those and I now have a 250 candle block. Then I copy that maybe 6-10 times or however many it takes and I get to the final video count of 1250 particles

Copy/Paste is the bread and butter of a Scenebuilder/kitbasher/vfx artist
Charrumon 28. jan. 2019 kl. 17:21
the amount of time it must of took to place all those particles scares me
dawsonn 10. okt. 2018 kl. 0:47
How do i get rid of that shitty overlay that happens when you get close to the candel flame
DeadSpace47 12. maj 2018 kl. 0:07
Perfect for romantinc dinners
Zachariah  [ophavsmand] 10. maj 2018 kl. 21:35
I did it that way becuase I didnt want to have to change the flame 25 times each time I tweaked it.
Zachariah  [ophavsmand] 10. maj 2018 kl. 21:34
Macciavelo, Very very selectively :D . a lot of children with subchildren and alot of "position from parent particles" in my candles I have a master particle, which contains (for example) 25 "child flames" but each of those child flames are ALSO basically empty, they create a single invisible particle at the location of their CP (cp 1- 25) and then each of those individual CP particles have Children that are set to "position from parent particles" . so the master particle has 25 children, but all of those children are just empty parent particles , while the children themselves use that particular particle as the start location instead of any particular Control point . . .

I have had some beers, I am not sure if the above makes sense.
Macciavelo 10. maj 2018 kl. 21:05
I'm trying to do a particle similar to this but I have hit a snag. I'm doing a "cloud of debris" that surrounds an object. Each control point should produce the cloud + de debris shower. So, I have something like 10 particle systems, each one of them I have added the cloud and debris as children.

Then, I added to each particle system a "Position within sphere random", and inside of it I selected the CP that would control it.

Finally, I made a "Master" particle system with all the other particle systems as it's children (except for the smoke and debris).

The thing is, when I spawn in the particle in the motion editor and move the CPs to their positions, the particles aren't spawning at each CP, but at the rootTransform of the particle.

My question is: How did you do it so each control point would control it's own set of children? I'm lost there.
The Real Saucy Egg McMuffin 14. apr. 2018 kl. 21:23
Holy shit the particle alone is fucking oit. But the ability to spawn, like, 300 of them in once system? Top tier, my dude
Zachariah  [ophavsmand] 7. apr. 2018 kl. 19:49
yeah I should probably just kill it, though if you gave me a picture I could actually help fix it. . . .
CL3NR c2 7. apr. 2018 kl. 19:46
that lens flare is really starting to piss me off. its so glitched!
Chaotic elite93 2. apr. 2018 kl. 21:57
Holy actual fuck! Someone finally made probably the most useful particle than from any of the other SFM source websites. You are praised by all the gods, God, Zeus, Hades, Medusa(she's probably not even considered a god, but she's worthy enough to be called one anyway with her fucking majestic snake hair), and Jaysus who thank you Zachariah very much for this gift from the heavens enchanted and forged by all the greatest divine blacksmiths! I WILL LIGHT UP THE FUCKING WORLD LIKE A SUN EXCEPT IT WILL BE A GIANT CANDLELIGHT INSTEAD!
Raze 4. mar. 2018 kl. 11:21

Solid Shake 3. mar. 2018 kl. 17:36
Theres a comment not to far down from this one that has the same problem, and provides a picture though. It should be on the next page.
Zachariah  [ophavsmand] 2. mar. 2018 kl. 16:37
Rick, I have a discord channel whch you can find a link to in the description of my profile, If you come and talk to me there I Can troubleshoot this for ou and make sure that it gets fixed for you and everybody else

If I dont' see you there I'll try to get to it eventually but more info gets this fixed muuuch muuuch faster. Especially if you can give me pictures
Solid Shake 2. mar. 2018 kl. 15:45
I have the same problem as Macciavelo. A big square texture covers the particle.
GORYGIRL1996 28. feb. 2018 kl. 21:41
THANK YOU, I'M GONNA GET THEM RIGHT NOW...I BET I CAN USE THIS FOR ONE OF MY CHARACTERS WHO SUES CANDELS FOR LOTS OF REASONS. ONCE I LEARN PARTICLES BETTER XD. ^_^ :steammocking:
Zachariah  [ophavsmand] 28. feb. 2018 kl. 21:37
Candles are from the detailed Scenebuild pack (I think?)
https://forum.facepunch.com/f/fbx/qxhe/Detailed-Scenebuild-Props-by-CK/1/

Map is a very reskinned version of the Corvo bianco house interior from the Witcher 3. prop pack link below. It doesnt quite look like my version but it looks good in different, less evil ways.
