Stocks for people and market stock, surprisingly, have the same origin, it's about storing things, or people
It probably derives from old germanic word, stock. which means wood logs, to this day in German stock means tree trunk / stick / etc. so it's only fitting, that wooden logs in which you keep people are called "stocks"
"Stockade" actually means "barrier" made from - you guessed it - wooden logs, or stocks.
So for some reason you just called the pillroy a wall!
Just call it pillroy and add a box of rotten cabbage to throw at it.
