I wanted to make it look like a very rich mahogany but keep the paintstroked artstyle that TF2 has

I like the embossed metal part.

But the wood grain texture looks extremely weird, like fake wood. I know there are some trees that have extremely colourful wood when cut in the right angle, often used for decorative purposes, but they are tropical and... I don't know, this texture just looks weird.
