This map is 6 years old and still one of the best made terrains for Arma 3

I love you dude

This map is truly something. I like the strange sci fi vibe that the scientific research centers give off. It's remoteness also gives off a very eerie feeling. Just you, miles of desert, and the unseen hostiles lurking somewhere within. Really reminds me of the Sicario films, especially the second one.
Waverider 14 Aug, 2022 @ 1:51pm
Still one of my favourites. Nothing else like it.

This map is one of the BEST in workshop, thank you

Any plans on doing any future update if needed? Or give it support in case some mods are not compatible?
AeternusX 23 Jul, 2020 @ 10:02pm
This is a lovely map. Has anyone else ported additional missions to Altiplano? The few I found on Steam are fun to play, but I'd really love to play Liberation or an Alive campaign on this map.

This is such a good looking map - if you drop the altitude to allow all air vehicles to function properly it would be used a lot more. Perhaps you could make a second lower altitude version.
GunMasterX11 7 Jul, 2019 @ 3:16pm
ah so thats why
woesinger  [author] 7 Jul, 2019 @ 2:57pm
@Gunmaster - it's not gravity - Arma 3 models the thin atmosphere at altitude, so some aircraft just can't operate above 3000m above sea level. Check the description for details.
GunMasterX11 7 Jul, 2019 @ 10:55am
last time i played his map it had insane gravity for planes and helicopters meaning they can't take off has that been fixed?
Alky Lee 27 Jan, 2019 @ 5:28am
I've ported Hetman War Stories mission to this map. Littlebirds and Orcas can fly on any part of the map. Other transport helicopters can only fly on the lower parts of the map. I've had some great battles. The terrain is challenging in a battle scenario.

@acoustic - sorry, was afk for the last while. Replying to you on the Forums now.
Samwise 21 Sep, 2018 @ 4:44pm
I sent you a message on BI Forums again Desync, need to look at those files again but I have some SSD wiping since then lol.
Storm Rider 2 Aug, 2018 @ 8:33am
Very nice map. Just a shame that the base altitude is 3000m+ and cannot fly helicopters. For gameplay purposes, I'd like to suggest a version of this map in normal altitudes.

Works now. Redownloading helped - mod was already loaded before but don't know what caused the error. Thx!
woesinger  [author] 11 Jun, 2018 @ 4:02pm
Hey Fastfood, check to see if "@altiplano" is in your Arma 3 folder. If it's there, then make sure you've got the mod enabled at the Loaded Mods list on the Mods screen on the Arma 3 start menu. If all of that is done and it's still not appearing - try redownloading it. Hope that helps some.
ItsFrancis93 11 Jun, 2018 @ 8:15am
This is perfect to train pilots
Ateles 11 Jun, 2018 @ 7:29am
How do I use Altiplano? Can't find it in the map list, neither for Eden nor to choose as server map.
=WW= Rebel 3 Jun, 2018 @ 9:56am
its so flat, i love it! so perfect for dessert operations
Showdown Samurai Sam 31 May, 2018 @ 2:50pm
oh ok thx ma' dude, enjoy your break I guess & keep up the good work
woesinger  [author] 30 May, 2018 @ 4:48pm
Hey Showdown, To be honest, Altiplano took me a year and a half to finish, and I'm pretty burned out with map making. So I'm not planning on any new map - just maintainance of the three I have. For your scenario though - take a look at Fallujah or Mogadishu. They're pretty extensive urban maps that you could place a suitable office building into with the Eden editor if there isn't the one you want already there.
Showdown Samurai Sam 22 May, 2018 @ 1:51pm
@woesinger it's me again remember? anyway I was gonna ask for a map request since you are pretty good at ti, anyway here it is, I was wondering if you could make a map with a capital city large with a few or small with just one & I wanted to ask this because I am trying to make an assasination type sinario with a sniper either killing someone in their office or while they're giving a speach, anyway you don't need to do it scince it's just a request but it would be healpfull thx m8 & once again Keep up the Good Work!

[EDIT]
Btw I was thinking of a Korea Type map because of the large buildings & that spot where kim stands on that terace, but any place could do problem is that I don't know where you'd get the assets
woesinger  [author] 16 May, 2018 @ 7:43pm
I spotted that and left a like on it, but didn't know it was you! Thanks, man, I appreciate it! Looks great. :)
Glass 15 May, 2018 @ 3:16am
Also, I don't want to seem like a fanboy or anything, but I made a terrible video trying to promote your map. It showed off a lot more originally, but I'm recording on a potato so I just had to chop it down to a single fight scene so it doesn't really show off much beyond one landscape. On a map this large it doesn't do it justice. But, I looked on Youtube and saw that no one had showcased your map before and didn't think that was right. So I used the footage that wasn't unwatchable and pieced together a short video.

I don't have any followers or anything, but you can use this if you want. I will also take the video down if you want too. Just let me know.

Cheers man.

Hey LB, that sounds amazing! Glad you're bringing the mayhem to the map. Enjoy.
Glass 14 May, 2018 @ 12:08am
I really enjoy playing this map. The wide open and jagged landscape makes this great for tank engagements. My friend and I engaged over a hundred T-72s and various other armored vehicles across over 20 miles of terrain in 2 and a half hours. Now I'm using it as a stand in for the Golan Heights, one of your mountains is almost perfect for Mt. Hermon.

All in all, love the map. Love the frames. Can't wait for the lite altitude version. Heliborne troops with a tank battalion would be wicked sweet!

Cheers mate! Keep up the great work!
Samwise 13 May, 2018 @ 7:34am
I gave you a shout on the forums, thanks.
woesinger  [author] 12 May, 2018 @ 3:26pm
@arkman575 - the limit is due to the altitude on the map. I have tinkered with making a low altitude version, but it is not straightforward to change the altitude and make the sky work properly. So short answer - maybe. :)
woesinger  [author] 12 May, 2018 @ 3:21pm
Hey Acoustic - if you are on the Arma forums, contact me me at Major Desync.
Samwise 11 May, 2018 @ 8:15pm
Woe, I attempted to add you in order to ask some questions about your terrain. I am making one very similar to this (textures and such) and was curious if I could look over your source files for this as a reference? Understandable if not, but wanted to check. Thanks!
Arkman575 10 May, 2018 @ 9:31pm
This is an amazing map. However, the height for aircraft is most annoying. Would you consider removing the limit?
woesinger  [author] 22 Apr, 2018 @ 4:59pm
Hey Acoustic - Thanks for the kind words! I'll be honest - there won't be any more major additions of objects to Altiplano. That being said - I've deliberately left lots of scope for people to use the Eden Editor to add their own objects and compositions to missions. So feel free to make it what you want to be!
Samwise 7 Apr, 2018 @ 1:29pm
Love the map and the lack of dependencies (A3 objects appear to be higher quality then A2 for obvious reasons).

Any chance we could see the addition of cities, towns, and industrial areas? Kinda like a Las Vegas outskirts type map ala New Vegas?

Good work, keep it up!
Dead Cell 1 Apr, 2018 @ 10:45am
Good except the altitude limits for aircraft.
Showdown Samurai Sam 17 Mar, 2018 @ 2:14pm
@woesinger that's ok ma' dude, I thought it would be simple too aparently not, I don't mind to wait
otherwise I need help on something, it's to do with blender & uvmaping but my 3d model doesn't check out so could you help me with that, I may need to send you the file, through discord or email maybe, either way I could really do with some help on it thx
woesinger  [author] 17 Mar, 2018 @ 4:33am
@D.Under, that's odd. The only thing I can think of is trying to download it from Armaholic http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=33796 because there doesn't seem to be a problem with the terrain file itself, but you might be having issues with the Steam download.

@Showdown - yeah, that's pretty usual - a big spike on first release and a long tail of low-level interest after that. BTW - I've been trying to make the low alititude version and its not as easy as I thought, so it might take longer than expected, unfortunately. So sorry about that.
D.Under 16 Mar, 2018 @ 10:01pm
it still isnt working @woesinger
Showdown Samurai Sam 15 Mar, 2018 @ 11:11am
sadl the exitment for this has died
woesinger  [author] 10 Mar, 2018 @ 4:54am
Hey D.Under, not sure what's causing that, but did you check to make sure the @altiplano folder is in your Arma3 folder?
D.Under 9 Mar, 2018 @ 10:48pm
ive downloaded and subscribed to it, but i still cant find the actual map itslef in the map menu, any way to fix this?
Showdown Samurai Sam 8 Mar, 2018 @ 9:29am
@woesinger thx ma' dude.... no need to say sorry, most people have busy lives... could it be the same alt as taona, stratis/altis or malden like the same alt as the normal in game maps
Don 7 Mar, 2018 @ 7:56pm
this is incredible
ImNotConnor 7 Mar, 2018 @ 7:22pm
By far one of the most detailed and well made maps I have witnessed made in this game
Dead Cell 7 Mar, 2018 @ 5:55pm
Great work @WoeSinger
woesinger  [author] 7 Mar, 2018 @ 5:09pm
@Showdow Samurai Sam - Sorry - yep I did. It'll be a few days, but I think I can knock together a Diet version of the map - all the same flavour, half the alititude. :P
HoneyBadger389 7 Mar, 2018 @ 11:49am
love this map. I'm trying to get into flying in ARMA3 and this is a perfect map to practice. Thanks.
Showdown Samurai Sam 7 Mar, 2018 @ 10:55am
@woesinger did you see my last comment?
woesinger  [author] 6 Mar, 2018 @ 7:05pm
@spades! - correct - and an interesting place it looks too! :)
