Among the many new techs added by the Tech Mex mod is a tech called "Grown Meat". I'm guessing that is very similar to this mod. (And I assume this mod was derived from the {Steam Location} \steamapps\common\Surviving Mars\ModTools\Samples\Mods\SyntheticMeat\ sample mod provided by the devs.)
So while this mod may be too outdated to run now, at least the Tech Mex mod still runs and seems to have a version of this.
Vegans: I have nothing against you, and neither should anyone else. But if people want to eat meat, let them. It's their choice to eat meat, just like it's your choice to NOT eat meat.
Non-vegans who won't shut up: Literally no one infringing on your rights to eat meat, so why are you being so hostile? We're omnivores, get over the fact that some people want to eat plants rather than meat.
Everyone else, myself included, thank you for your outstanding patience when dealing with the two sides screaming aimlessly at each other.
I hate activists vegan...
Just leave people make their own choice in their soul and conscience...
Instead I get another pointless argument involving vegans.
yes you can get vitamine b12 other sources algea and a couple of mushroom (which aren't or only minimally farmed).
if you want to promote the vegan diet don't attack the other that has the opposite effect. find something constructive with common ground. i like food, give interesting recipes.
Frankly, your defensiveness is very telling. The thing is you can never win an argument with a vegan, because you're not debating the vegan, you're debating your conscience :-D
Description of vegan trait in game: "Don't worry, they'll tell you."
Too right.
Anyway actually getting back on topic, where do you grow this crop? I've checked the farm and hydroponics but I don't seem to be getting it as an option.
I'm 37 years old. I've been vegetarian since age 15. Vegan for 4 years. I have never taken a pill for amino acids. I'm 6'5" tall (196cm), and weigh over 150kg (335+). I bench press over 200kg, I shoulder press over 300. I leg press over 600kg.
I will restate my original comment: There's absolutely nothing essential in meat, dairy or eggs humans cannot get from a superior, healthier source in the plant kingdom. And that includes B12 which has been depleted from the top soil through farming, but which is other omnipresent in nature, including wild plants.
You mean kind of like every person who hears you're a vegan and offers their unsolicited advice - or every advertisement ever made? Animal agriculture is the largest industry in the world. The one that is destroying our planet. And the food industry the one that advertises the most.
Please tell me more about how vegans are annoying :-D
All essential amino acids are present in all plants.
"It's hard to live healthy with zero meat. Not impossible, just hard to do, especially if you lack $$$ and a local Whole Foods market..."
Nonsense. Being a healthy vegan is far cheaper than being an omnivore. Root vegetables, legumes, grains, seeds, most nuts, even fruit, are affordable and plentiful.

In short, Rune, I get what you and other vegans are trying to do, but not every question has a single answer. Look at more than five pixels before you talk to people about the big picture.
I don't have any problem with the concept of veganism. You know what I do have a problem with? People who shove their lifestyle in your face. People who look so far down their nose they need a periscope to walk. People who obsess about their lifestyle choice and phrase their every opinion as if it's god's sacred word and it's herasy to disagree.
I like tofu, I like salad, and so on and so forth, and I'm sure if I was left without alternative I could adapt to a meatless lifestyle, but so long as my mouth contains incisors and canines, I'm going to do what my genetics tell me and enjoy my bacon.
It's hard to live healthy with zero meat. Not impossible, just hard to do, especially if you lack $$$ and a local Whole Foods market...
