What you do is you change texture drawing options, it won't affect the model. It is still there, just invisible. So no, you can't do anything with the outline, that's the only con of that method.
So if the sights are a separate element,then it's most likely modifiable that way.

What if you want to remove a super awesome scope because it's totes not realisitc, bro? Read on.
Open root/materials and find the material (VMT) of the model you want to hide. All you have to add is "$no_draw 1". Here's an example."
Can't do it man, I can only do textures, but not viewmodel/worldmodel edits, as I have no experience whatsoever in it.

i collect high end mods and this one fits the chrome better in my opinion ;)
