They were a bit like the Truck Stops the HGV drivers use today but they were only for Rail Staff.

RolandBP them days mate you would not of needed a hotel They use to have lodges all over the network then were you could get a bath and bed for the night if you were working back the next day. They later became Staff association clubs after the steam days finished ;-)
