Has this been confirmed? Will you post it in the decscription please?
(Think so atleast)
For people experiencing mid-late game crashing it is because EaW's AI has a balancing mechanic that generates a certain amount of units for the AI based off of how many units the PLAYER has. If you are having problems with crashing it is because the PLAYER has too many units (both space and ground) and the game is spawning massive amounts of units for the AI to keep the game "Balanced". This mechanic is part of the reason why the base game has a unit cap to begin with.
For instance, I typically play as the Republic and if it ever seems like you just destroyed a massive CIS fleet (10-20 Lucerhulks, ~50 carriers, and what seems like 100's of frigates and support craft; a fleet so large it would take hundreds of thousands of credits and a few hours in real-time to build if the player was playing as the CIS) only to have an even bigger CIS fleet attack you from out of nowhere moments later it is because the game literally just spawned in the massive fleet to compensate for the AI fleet you just destroyed. The AI does not build ships based off of a timer like the player does, the AI simply generates more ships based off of the number of ships the player builds.
Solution 1: Even though you have an infinite unit cap try not to build 20 massive fleets with 100's Venators and thousands of support craft because no matter how big your fleet is, the game is just going to automatically generate a larger fleet for the AI.
Solution 2: Don't create massive garrison fleets for every single one of the planets you control. Even if these fleets don't seem to be that big, they still all count towards your overall unit count the AI uses to generate its ships. instead have only a handful of larger fleets controlling choke points throughout the galaxy. Use the few larger fleets to block the enemy's route to your undefended systems by creating choke points at key points in the hyperspace lanes. This will prevent the AI from being able to attack your undefended systems and still let you use massive fleets in battles without having HUGE amounts of ships overall for no reason.
Solution 3: For your undefended systems make sure you have built the Highest level space station for that system, and purchase the in-battle space station upgrades any chance you get while. The higher level space station you have, the more powerful the game generated reinforcements you receive. IE; a level 1 space station would only give you a few acclimators and some corvettes for free but a level 3 space station will give you a Venator as well as decent amount of frigates and support craft for free. Ensuring you purchase the in-battle upgrades will increase the overall amount of free ships you get as reinforcements and the upgrades carry over into the next battle (as long as your space station isn't destroyed). This means that the more often you defend a system and the more upgrades you purchase, the easier it gets to defend the system.
thank you if you do
