Oh man sorry i forgot about planets, i have a crappy PC so i never go to planets because of performance
deleted the removal of player lights from description as it seems not to work.
As it was just something small I thought I could do with minimal effort (copy) while doing it with the spotlight, I do not plan to find out why it does not work (if someone finds out, leave a comment).
No it definitely isn't more realistic, in space there is not air where the light can be reflected when exiting the light source so it goes straight forward
I opened the files with Visual Studio and basically erased all images. Maybe making it a bit more transparent is also possible. But the important thing is that this files includes lots of detail levels so you need to edit all of them otherwise it will only work at certain distances and/or graphics options.
Other than that, it is as advertized.
I do not know how it would be implemented, but I know it is possible, I guess it to be medium difficulty. What would certainly be needed is some prior programming experience.
This is not suitable for starting to learn programming.
Very easy modding projects include things where you only need to change some existing numbers, like max ship speed, thrust of small ion thrusters, ...
Next step would be create some block that is slightly modified from an existing (e.g. super-thruster), with slightly edited visuals.
For anything more complicated, at least some programming experience is needed (100+ hours experience)
Making this only work out of atmosphere would be theoretically possible but only with lots of effort, which I will not invest.
This was just a 10 minute rage-creation because I did not see anything besides cones with my ship that has lots of spotlights.
