still works as advertised in my game. However, extending this to mod- and DLC-added spotlights would be excellent. I cannot find a mod to remove this cone from anything but this vanilla spotlight.

Not just atmosphere density, but also the weather system (denser cone when foggy). Zero cone in vacuum.
Streuwinkel 24 Aug, 2020 @ 10:48am
Keen could change alpha depending on atmosphere density.

Works perfectly. A must-have for realism in airless environments. :selike:

My old eyes and FPS thank you! Great MOD!

Hate the fog, idk why I never found this before
maxxo443 10 Jan, 2020 @ 10:14am
Still works! Nice to get rid of the fog :)

Thank you, works great again!

@matticitt
thanks for info, should be fixed now
matticitt 21 Jul, 2018 @ 7:07pm
Hi, this mod no longer works correctly, sadly. Instead of the stock look or nothingness it now displays a giant while plain that covers everything. Can you fix this?
lumagatto 14 Jun, 2018 @ 10:18am
If you cant remove them completely at least try modifing theur texture, they're way exaggerated in vanilla, even for atmosphere

@Jaiden M.
Oh man sorry i forgot about planets, i have a crappy PC so i never go to planets because of performance
DeeDoo 14 Jun, 2018 @ 9:50am
@DDZiroWan Why did you automatically assume I was talking just about space? Lol. There should be a mod that removes it in space, but not on planets.

@DDZiroWan
deleted the removal of player lights from description as it seems not to work.
As it was just something small I thought I could do with minimal effort (copy) while doing it with the spotlight, I do not plan to find out why it does not work (if someone finds out, leave a comment).
lumagatto 14 Jun, 2018 @ 8:12am
Bug: for me player lights have the cone
lumagatto 14 Jun, 2018 @ 8:10am
@Jaiden M.
No it definitely isn't more realistic, in space there is not air where the light can be reflected when exiting the light source so it goes straight forward
DeeDoo 13 Jun, 2018 @ 11:28pm
Hm, interesting mod! I like the idea but I prefer the cones. Makes it look a little more realistic. :3

I opened the files with Visual Studio and basically erased all images. Maybe making it a bit more transparent is also possible. But the important thing is that this files includes lots of detail levels so you need to edit all of them otherwise it will only work at certain distances and/or graphics options.

Hi, I'm making my own environment mod and I would like to mod the hazy cone emitted by spotlights as an add-on bonus. I'm wondering what values you changed in the flares.sbc file so I can reduce the intensities of both large and small grid spotlight cones.
Tiger 20 Apr, 2018 @ 7:03pm
Does not remove player helmet lights.
Other than that, it is as advertized.
dRuPpI 19 Apr, 2018 @ 11:48am
is this compatible with mods that change light radius / range?
Solraven 30 Mar, 2018 @ 11:43pm
in your experience does this have a positive effect on frame rates or sim speed

I sort of agree with psyberition. I have never modded SE but if you need atmosheric detection there is almost certainly a method for that in the vent block, which would be directional too. Couldn't you just have it do the detection for the light giving side, then if there is atmosphere cone, if no atmosphere then no cone? It doesn't have to scale with the pressure.

Thanks for this! That haze was so anoying when trying to design my ships. Though, is it possible that you can make it where the original one is still available? I think the haze has it's place and I would like to use both, underground bases would best be served by the visable humidity. Again thanks for this mod!
HL65536  [author] 24 Mar, 2018 @ 4:11am
@Psyberition
I do not know how it would be implemented, but I know it is possible, I guess it to be medium difficulty. What would certainly be needed is some prior programming experience.
This is not suitable for starting to learn programming.
Very easy modding projects include things where you only need to change some existing numbers, like max ship speed, thrust of small ion thrusters, ...
Next step would be create some block that is slightly modified from an existing (e.g. super-thruster), with slightly edited visuals.
For anything more complicated, at least some programming experience is needed (100+ hours experience)
PSYberition 24 Mar, 2018 @ 3:51am
Understandable xD Still an improvement. Is it something that might be good for someone with no modding experience to start learning?
HL65536  [author] 24 Mar, 2018 @ 3:42am
@Psyberition
Making this only work out of atmosphere would be theoretically possible but only with lots of effort, which I will not invest.
This was just a 10 minute rage-creation because I did not see anything besides cones with my ship that has lots of spotlights.
PSYberition 24 Mar, 2018 @ 2:54am
Spacemosphere be-gone! Would it be possible to make this work only when out of atmosphere?
