@Thundercraft - I'd like to do some updates, when I can get some time away from work. Like you say, I think the development cycle is complete, so hopefully this will be a legacy update
Thundercraft 10 Jul, 2023 @ 2:37pm
Is there a ghost of a chance of this mod getting an update?
(Hey, miracles do happen. :lunar2020playfuldog: )

The last game update was over a year ago. And my suspicion is that the devs have abandoned the game to it's current state, so I doubt you'd have to worry about future game updates breaking mods again.

Mod dose not work
perpetualprose 8 Jan, 2020 @ 7:25pm
Does this mod work with the latest version of the game?
ErrantSword  [author] 3 Jan, 2019 @ 3:06am
@Unstable - It should do, yes
Noxious 2 Jan, 2019 @ 9:23pm
Does the tarmac automatically appear?

Grats on your marriage, I assume from your honeymoon statement, hope your honeymoon was nice!
ErrantSword  [author] 11 Sep, 2018 @ 3:35pm
I'm now back (from Honeymoon!) and have just updated almost all of my Surviving Mars Mods for you guys. This one should now be working again! If there are any issues, please let me know.
Garrish 15 Jun, 2018 @ 10:15am
Looking forward to more! I understand that for most modding is a hobby, but I have to say that in my opinion modders are the backbones of a lot of games. You have my respect, coding and debugging can be a frustrating process. There are many games out there that would be dead if modders didn't step in and share with the community. Thank you for you efforts, much appreciated.
ErrantSword  [author] 15 Jun, 2018 @ 5:27am
I'm happy they did a pad, although I'll admit it'd have been nice to make it into the credits ;) Mine wasn't as in depth as some of the other ones they've added tho. ANd I think modding will always be a hobby, day job is busy enough most of the time! Hoping later this month I'll have some time off and can build some more stuff.
Garrish 15 Jun, 2018 @ 12:38am
I think the highest praise a dev can give to a modder is a decent paying job!
BHunterSEAL 2 Jun, 2018 @ 9:40pm
This was one of my favorite mods, congrats on having a similar function added into vanilla--probably the highest praise devs can give a modder!
ErrantSword  [author] 30 Apr, 2018 @ 8:45am
I have just updated my Mod to address the spacing issue raised by admbraden - the Rockets will now land in the correct place again. This may mean Pads within existing saves 'move' slightly to accomodate the update.

I am delighted at how well-used this Mod has been, and even though a vanilla version is now available intend to continue support as best I can. To further support the Mod's longevity, I have also dropped the Build Cost significantly, to bring it closer into line with the vanilla version now available in-game.

If I can, I will at some point work out how to have my Mod surpress Dust - I had hoped simply to copy the class of the vanilla item, but unfourtunately this then creates the vanilla pad (overlapped and in the wrong orientation). Watch this space...
ErrantSword  [author] 30 Apr, 2018 @ 7:43am
@Jiloscan - thank you very much! If only the Devs named it after me ;)

@admbraden - I'll look into the offset issue. If it's an easy fix, I'll update the Mod.
McKaby 28 Apr, 2018 @ 3:10pm
Just a bit of a heads up, the rockets don't land exactly where they use to now, it's one hex off.

Otherwise, still using it, feels a lot more "frontier outpost" than the new vanilla one.
Sir Kill A Lot 27 Apr, 2018 @ 4:16am
Nice idea, maybe add fuel storage space.
Jilocasin 26 Apr, 2018 @ 9:40am
That should say Errant Sword pod. Excuse my fat fingers....
Jilocasin 26 Apr, 2018 @ 9:38am
@lookforgame I wanted to say the same. Seems like ErrantSword had the right idea about what was missing. :) I name my first landing pod for the Opportunity mod the Eraand Sword pod. :D
lookforgame 25 Apr, 2018 @ 1:11pm
Ummm, This mod is now obsolete since the "Opportunity" update had it's own land pad. Though I enjoyed it! Nice work
ErrantSword  [author] 23 Apr, 2018 @ 4:24pm
@Jiloscan - You are right. I'm still working with 'found entities' in-game, as I have yet to learn Blender and the various 3D modelling stuff I'd need to create new buildings from scratch. SOmething to learn if/when I get time!
Shades 21 Apr, 2018 @ 1:06am
Very nice. :steamhappy:
Increased dust protection for nearby buildings would be logical next development.
Jilocasin 17 Apr, 2018 @ 3:15am
And another question from me. :) The plate with the arrows is actually a repaintet depot, isn't it? Is it possible to make this part as a testure only or something with less hight.? I eally hate the drones clipping trough that plate.
I hope you don't mind my critisizing so ofton, but I tned to only critisize mods I really like and care for. ;)
Tahvohck 13 Apr, 2018 @ 3:47pm
As nice as the idea for having the hardstanding do more is, I'd rather keep it simple. We can already add things to it. Having it transmit power around the edge might be nice, though.
ErrantSword  [author] 12 Apr, 2018 @ 6:47am
@Jilocasin - Other people have suggested this, and I'm not opposed in principle. The problem is gettign a Building to do multiple things using the Mod Editor is extremely difficult (in some cases, no prossible). Storage uses in particular are problematic.

Additionally, anyhting that requires Drone routiong (etc) means 3D modelling work using Blender and so forth (which is, regretablly, beyond my current ability).

As the screenshot you posted shows, people can put together 'modular facilites using the various items - a lot of people use my Walls Mod to enclose thir pads (hence the inclusion of a Wall node that can carry power)

I would like to do more work with this Mod in the future, but it will depend in part on what Modding Tool updates are released.

I think, if you could add storage space and chsrging spots for drone it would improve the pads a lot.
Tahvohck 10 Apr, 2018 @ 6:06am
If you do go with Redder's suggestion, add it as an upgrade if you could. I like that it turns on and off right now. And that it doesn't need metal to maintain.
ErrantSword  [author] 10 Apr, 2018 @ 6:03am
@Everyone - Thank so much so supporting this Mod. Last night we went past 5,000 active subscribers, and are well into the Top 20 Mods for Surviving Mars!

I'm goign to keep making new Mods, and will update this one over time as the developers / publishers relase more Mod support. Stay tuned!
ErrantSword  [author] 10 Apr, 2018 @ 4:33am
@Redders - I could do that, yeah. I'll have a look next time I'm modding.
Redders 9 Apr, 2018 @ 5:30pm
I'm sorry if this has already been suggested/asked of you but could you combine the landing pad with your [ES] Remote Projector Lamp ... so no need for cables/wireless varient? Maybe add +1 metal to maintanance for the solar panel attachment
ErrantSword  [author] 9 Apr, 2018 @ 4:42am
@Tahvohck - That's very odd... I'm not sure why that'd happen - it could be a glitch unrelated to the Mod. I'll see if I can test it next time I'm in the Editor by granting myself the Nanite Tech. THanks for the bug report.

If anyone else has a simialr issue, please let me know!
Tahvohck 8 Apr, 2018 @ 8:31pm
Having an issue with this, only showed up when I got nanite building: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1356748543
King Doom 8 Apr, 2018 @ 10:23am
For such a simple mod, this is absolutely brilliant and I totally love it.
Solax 7 Apr, 2018 @ 12:44pm
This is a great mod and I love using it! Though if you are trying to figure out a way to remove the X that appears for turned off buildings, might I suggest somehow linking the building to the Autonamous Sensors tech? It would both deal with the power issue AND the mainenence issue, and the tech is available very early on.
ErrantSword  [author] 6 Apr, 2018 @ 6:05pm
@Tahvock - I think it defaulted to that, but I may change it. There are actually 4 smaller lights, which do toggle on/off with the button (purely cosmetic I know, but hey). I really wish there was away to surpress the 'X' arrow for buidlings that are switched off.... something else to look into.
Tahvohck 6 Apr, 2018 @ 5:40pm
Fair enough. I'll settle for adding lamps to the other end for now. I'd suggest that the power be reduced to 0.2 like the base lamps, though, since there's not exactly anything else drawing power in the hardstanding.
ErrantSword  [author] 6 Apr, 2018 @ 9:38am
@Tahvohck - I settled on doing it this way so people can more easily determine where the Rocket ends up (or even line it up under an existing Rocket). Additionally, as the lamp blocks pathign it makes sense to have it in the area currently used.

You make some very good suggestions on the rest, but all of the work discussed requires use of 3D modelling to define the various areas (something beyond my current ability). I'll defiantely consider these shoudl my abiltes continue to improve. The Mod as it stands represent a careful and imaginitive use of found Entites, nothing more.

The additional benefit of keeping the Mod 'simple' is that it is less likely to suffer bugs or alterations when the game is updated - something especially important given well over 4,000 people are now using it.
Tahvohck 6 Apr, 2018 @ 7:21am
Any chance we could get this flipped? It makes more sense to me to have the light on the "Activity" side (on the far side of the rocket) instead of right next to where the rocket will be landing. In addition you may want to look into the way Domes are defined (where they have an "inner" area). If you made the path-blocking area a U it should solve drones getting stuck without making them want to path across the tarmac.
ErrantSword  [author] 3 Apr, 2018 @ 6:37am
@static - This one has to have very high dust tolerance, as Rockets land right on top of it, hugely increasing it's duct loading. When not in use, this does lead to much slower dust accumulation, but this is unavoidable.

@Miravlix - There are no 'problems' with pathing, but Drones and Rovers will avoid the area the rocket lands on (centred on the large hex of rough concrete). Personally I find it realistc - in the real world you don't take shortcuts across runways, etc! Practically, I cannpt currently avoid this effect, as the Mod relies on the existing properties ofther entities used.
Miravlix 3 Apr, 2018 @ 2:36am
The hardstand gives rovers and droids problems pathing in the area. Resulting in longer travel times for droids trying to load/unload.
static 2 Apr, 2018 @ 6:02pm
Love the hardstand ES, great work on creating a perfect addition to my colony. A small request: please consider making it attract more dust; it's a bit weird to see it so clean compared to everything around it!
Cane McKeyton 2 Apr, 2018 @ 5:06am
I could see some functinality that could be added to this, like drones could pre-load fuel and rare metals onto the pad and rockets could be near instantly loaded once they land, or dedicated landing pads give rockets lower fuel requirements to launch.
ErrantSword  [author] 2 Apr, 2018 @ 3:50am
@TekDragon - The Mod Manager only allows you to upload a single image, and has some known .png /.tga compatibility issues. Ihaven't yet had a chance to try adding additional images through the Steam interface, but might give it a go.

@tanker_in_tan - Thanks very much!
ErrantSword  [author] 2 Apr, 2018 @ 3:49am
@GravityCatz - check your Mod Manager, and makesure the Mod is ticked. I'm notaware of any reasons a Modbuild wouldn't show up. Once in-game, it'll appear in the Infrastructure menu.

@Griffon - TheLight is an essential part ofthe Mod,in that it gives allows the Pad to be placed and indicates its orientation. Maybe as the develpers increase Mod support I'll be able to make a different version. The Wall Node is included as I know a lot of people add the Walls (see my other Mods)

@Merced - This Mod uses 'foundEntities'already included in the game. I may learn some 3D modellign at som point, and may thenmake a new version. For now, I'm limited by the Entitiesalready available.
MikeTheGray 1 Apr, 2018 @ 9:13pm
I love the look of this. I don't care if its just for looks. It looks great in my base. Game really needs something like this to build. Just needs a benefit of some sort. Good work man!
TekDragon 1 Apr, 2018 @ 8:45am
What was the point behind only including one, empty, photo for this mod? Does Steam charge money for attaching additional screenshots?
Merced 1 Apr, 2018 @ 4:54am
Nice. Can you make one that is inspired by the "X"-landing spots SpaceX uses for their boosters right now?
Griffon0129 31 Mar, 2018 @ 7:16pm
I know this is just cosmetic (for the most part) but I really really like this mod. I'd just prefer if the little wall piece and the light wasn't part of the blueprint.
GravityzCatz 30 Mar, 2018 @ 7:17pm
is it just me or is this mod not showing up in game at all?
baddoggs 29 Mar, 2018 @ 8:58pm
Not for me mate, i have figured it out now..
