Dear BLKCandy, It shall be great to have a feature of "converting" culture/religion education focus. Because it is inevitable to have a lot of micromanagement when you want to have your dynasty to convert.

Does anyone know which derivative files need to be referenced and maintained/updated between BEDU and CK2+
alexanderyou 27 May, 2019 @ 8:02am
New ck2+ version out
Drax70 21 Dec, 2018 @ 4:03am
@BLKCandy, Is this updated/dead/still working with v.3.0.1?
Nilserrich 6 Jun, 2018 @ 9:53am
I like the mod very much. You did a good job there.

Does the mod need an update for patch 2.8.2.1?
Brillenfisch 27 May, 2018 @ 12:09pm
Bug: When I click on the descision to form the HRE I get crowned by the pope, but not get the Title. This is the only mod I have enabled except CK2+
BLKCandy  [author] 17 May, 2018 @ 12:53pm
Wait... Thrift? That's childhood focus, not childhood education focus. Did you meant stewardship? You did reselect education focus after the child turn 12 right?

And if the focus was correct, the child should get correct education trait even with wrong guardian.. I didn't touch that part. I only added events to select focus and guardian.

But you get elusive shadow. That's lv4 intrigue. You don't get that randomly. (Well, you can, but very unlikely) The child would need intrigue focus with good intrigue guardian to have a good chance of getting that.

And if the child have that modifier, then the mod should be doing nothing with the child. No auto focus or guardian selection. No notification. No popup. You have to do those yourself.
Knez_Pavle 17 May, 2018 @ 12:27pm
@BLKCandy

Focus was Thrift he did it said "Player managing education"
So should I just leave it be when I activate the mod?
BLKCandy  [author] 17 May, 2018 @ 12:24pm
Also there are three toggles. One for the specific child. One for all children of that character. And one for to exclude the guardian. I thonk I might had made the toggle name and description a bit unclear. You could've toggle a wrong one. I will check to the mod later to see if I can prevent that...
BLKCandy  [author] 17 May, 2018 @ 12:18pm
What was the child focus? And did the child get the manual education modifier? Did the mod reassign the child guardian after you toggle it? If the child had the modifier then the toggle should work. And the mod should not reassign the child guardian leaving the child to vanilla system.

But even if you toggle manual education and get the modifier applied, that only tell the mod to exclude the child from all events added by the mod. There is no popup. You will have to manually manage the child like in vanilla.

You can change the guardian. But if the mod already selected the child focus, you won't get to change it.
Knez_Pavle 17 May, 2018 @ 11:52am
@BLKCandy

I played with the mod already and this isw hat I meant :

So I clicked manual education for my heir ( I was midas touched ) and I didnt get any pop ups or anything and ce came out as an elusive shadow.
BLKCandy  [author] 17 May, 2018 @ 10:48am
Make sure you have CK2+ mod installed. Enable both mods. And that's it. The mod will then manage all children in the game.

To exclude a child, guardian, or the selected character's children(incase you want to manage that character manually) right click on their portrait and select corresponding menu. That's it.
Knez_Pavle 17 May, 2018 @ 10:09am
How exactly do you use this mod :D?
BLKCandy  [author] 7 May, 2018 @ 5:08pm
Also anything above 20 aren't even checked in most vanilla scripts. Vanilla combat tactic only check up to 16 martial if I remembered correctly. So, the game isn't really designed for any character to get that high attributes.
BLKCandy  [author] 7 May, 2018 @ 5:01pm
The mod only change (add) guardian and focus selection scripts. If the children get good focus and guardian then it is working. It doesn't touch how the outcome is calculated. Which by standard, you only have around 50% chance to get lv4 education even with the best guardian possible. Getting anyone above 20 in something is also really hard. You need a pile of good traits to get there. Even geniuses don't always reach that mark

Also, groom the heir yourself. The mod helps, but AI aren't that smart in using the education trait intervention. My mod doesn't touch how the guardian or education work, only how the guardian and focus get selected.
Omniburg 7 May, 2018 @ 1:45pm
I don't think this works for me? I have a ruler with over 40 martial and the kids turn out with less than brilliant strategist and less than 25 martial.
相対性 6 May, 2018 @ 6:13am
Would be great if they attempted to matrilineal marriage/betrothal because it's just sad to see a Princess being married off to a Count in a normal marriage and her losing her dynasty which happened to me? It somehow bothers me to see my kinswomen wasting my beautiful dynaty I worked hard on to marry some shit person. Otherwise it's a really good mood, I enjoy it.
BLKCandy  [author] 20 Apr, 2018 @ 6:50pm
Well... you don't have to. I said that for those that want to manually manage all of their children. The mod logic check for the character event modifier. To the logic to manually manage the children only apply to those with the modifier. The heir won't inherit the modifier, thus it must be toggled manually
Dreden 20 Apr, 2018 @ 8:23am
Why do we need to do that?
TheMediCat 18 Apr, 2018 @ 4:21pm
Eeeeyyyy! =)
That's pretty good!
BLKCandy  [author] 18 Apr, 2018 @ 9:53am
Remember that you MUST toggle the 'Toggle Manual Children Education' on yourself everytime you change character. The mod still not exclude player children by default. Load the game, and while the game is still paused, toggle it on yourself before the mod fire.
BLKCandy  [author] 18 Apr, 2018 @ 9:47am
- Religion and Culture conversion now refer to DIRECT LIEGE instead of top liege. Those heretic vassals will grow their own court of heretics, giving those minority religion/culture some chance. This means the minority group in the realm will have much smaller childhood guardian selection though.

- Add targeted decision to toggle exclude/include the target from guardian pool. This should stop the character from being assign new ward by the mod.

- Add targeted decision to toggle exclude/include the target's children from the focus and guardian selection. Toggle it on yourself to stop to mod from managing your children. If you haven't toggled it on yet, PAUSE before the mod fire, toggle it, the continue.

- Added _include_me suffix to all targeted decision. You can now toggle your own options.
BLKCandy  [author] 18 Apr, 2018 @ 8:47am
If you are under 12, the mod is going to pick fighter trainer with no LV4 education. The 12+ guardian stats bonus only fire when the child is 14.5 and the education LV only come to effect when the child turn 16.

As for being unable to toggle manual education for yourself, I didn't add _includ_self in the targeted decision. I'm going to add it in the next version, along with the other options.
alexanderyou 18 Apr, 2018 @ 7:43am
Yeah I think the automatic education should be disabled by default for all of your children/grandchildren. Also I noticed when I'm playing as a child ruler in a regency, I'm unable to toggle manual education and the game keeps setting my guardian back to a potato character. Like I set my guardian to a person with 4 star education and 12+ in all stats, and the game keeps resetting it to a guy with 2 star education and only one stat over 6. Why?
TheMediCat 17 Apr, 2018 @ 5:19pm
I should have mentioned the mod automatically assigned them to childhood focuses I didn't want as well, which are not so easily fixed :(
BLKCandy  [author] 17 Apr, 2018 @ 3:20pm
Nope, not a bug. You can still recall the child back by reassignning yourself as guardian. You are still the children's liege despite them receiving education in other court. And even if you don't, they would return to you after they turn 16. (Though you can't control their trait gain) This mod only work for children older than 5 though, so that is long window to toggle the manual education.

Though I might add the option to:
1. Exclude player from guardian pool to keep player ward slot free.
2. Toggle manual education on for player children on the child birth.

Both only work after this batch of children though.
TheMediCat 17 Apr, 2018 @ 10:04am
Can you make the player's children on manual education by default? I was happily playing away with this mod until i realized my entire next generation was screwed because it automatically moved all my kids off of me. (If this wasn't a bug. I started using this mod on an already created save.)
lx 16 Apr, 2018 @ 1:54pm
Thanks BLKCandy. Ive abandoned the game for not being a game. I red some stuff from the wiki. Not worth the effort to learn it.
I also unsubscribed from this but somehow i recieved notification :|
BLKCandy  [author] 16 Apr, 2018 @ 12:01am
@Geraldo the Wild Wolf - No. It is unlikely that I would make other mod compatibility version.

@lx - It is not exactly vanilla. It's from Conclave DLC. In vanilla, only guardian education level matters. But with Conclave DLC, guardian have more influence on the children, being able to influence trait gain with various events. Check to education (conclave) on the ck2 wiki.

@Dreden - Probably because heretics got converted too fast. I might adjust the religion/culture check again later, maybe make them refer to direct liege instead of top liege.
Dreden 15 Apr, 2018 @ 11:19am
I'm having a weird issue where all my societies just slowly die off throughout the game. I can't seem to figure out what it is, but I was wondering if it could be something with the culture conversions? 50 years later, there's like 1 guy in each maybe if that, and the secret societies all are probably dead I assume since they have 0% influence. Any ideas if that could be something?
lx 14 Apr, 2018 @ 1:21pm
I did not say anything, I asked for a guide.
Vitality 14 Apr, 2018 @ 1:15pm
@lx umm... What are you trying to say dude?
lx 14 Apr, 2018 @ 10:50am
...a biased mod. how inappropriate. anyway...
reading the text makes me think that the vanilla game has some feature that i have missed to see - the education(learning) of traits. i see it as a complete random bs. so if there is actually some way to control it id like someone to explain it to me or point me to a guide.
Aurjay 14 Apr, 2018 @ 4:18am
Wish all Mods were truly Mods and none of these cheats were allowed up on the Workshop.
Uday Shetty 12 Apr, 2018 @ 11:57pm
How about a HIP version?
BLKCandy  [author] 12 Apr, 2018 @ 10:20am
I have been thinking about it. It would be a pain for non independent heretics and infidels trying to gain a ground though, since top liege education program will brainwash everyone to the 'official' religion.

But once the heretics became independent, they will convert their independent realm very quickly.
YBG Stroopwaffel 12 Apr, 2018 @ 9:53am
@Dresden It reduces the amount of revolts and negative opinion maluses the AI suffers from thanks to cultural and religious differences
Dreden 12 Apr, 2018 @ 7:21am
How does it make it easier for everyone though? It was my understanding that this affects everyone equally. Raising the average for everyone doesn't actually make anything easier since everyone is on the same page. Maybe I'm missing something obvious? What I Looooooooove is that this simply allows you to use the in-game systems as designed in the most effective way - nothing here that is outside the scope of the base game.
BLKCandy  [author] 12 Apr, 2018 @ 5:21am
Nope. This is not the case. Both AGoT and CK2+ have thier map overhaul, so that's at least one clash there. I'm pretty sure there are much much more like inheritable traits, events, etc.
It'sYaBoiiRoan 12 Apr, 2018 @ 4:57am
@alexanderyou I know, but I know games where you can throw overhaul mods with overhaul mods. And you didn't even answer my question.. So, is CK2+ compatible with AGOT, or not?
BLKCandy  [author] 11 Apr, 2018 @ 6:51pm
There is a vanilla version. Picking that up would be better if you aren't on CK2+.

As for converting to the top liege... Well... That's the meta isn't it? Every liege wants their realm to be of his religion and culture. Religions and cultures will die out quicker. Characters converted in a generation or two. And province converted much quicker. It does make the game much easier for everyone though
Guren Gaaze 11 Apr, 2018 @ 11:11am
Does this work for Vanilla? This mod seem impossible to not have! :D However (there is always something ey?) Why convert religion and culture to top liege? I would rather convert them to loca/direct liege rather than top liege, or else all religion and cultures will even quicker die out.
alexanderyou 11 Apr, 2018 @ 6:13am
CK2+ is an overhaul mod. AGOT is an overhaul mod.
It'sYaBoiiRoan 11 Apr, 2018 @ 5:11am
Does CK2+ (And thus, also this mod) work with the AGOT mod? Just curious - And I also don't want to blow up my laptop lel
BLKCandy  [author] 10 Apr, 2018 @ 6:40am
Update!

- Education focus selection now also use scoring system! It should be smarter, preferring focus with multiple positive traits instead of just picking first valid focus on logic check order. Attributes are now considered too! Though at much smaller weight.

- You can adjust mess around the modifiers in the BEDU.2 event to change the selection preference a bit. I have made a weight adjustment block there.

I highly doubt the current weight adjustment give the best 'balance' since I only tested this for ~20 years in a heavily modded game. So please give some feedback.
Skrytek 9 Apr, 2018 @ 1:43am
Good to know that the invalid checksum doesn't affect gameplay. I'm still noob about it, so I thought it would make CK2+ behave differently (for the worse) if that happened. Thank you for enlightening me.
BLKCandy  [author] 8 Apr, 2018 @ 4:10pm
The mod is made for CK2+ and can be enabled/disabled mid-play.

You will have invalid check sum with any game play related change you put in the game with CK2+. The way to fix it is to edit the 'supported_checksum' in the ck2plus.mod in the mod folder to match the new checksum. But then you will have to update the checksum manually with any smallest change.

Personally, I just ignore it. I play with multiple mods over the CK2+. The checksum thing is never valid fore me. The game run just fine.
Skrytek 8 Apr, 2018 @ 12:25pm
CK2+ calls for Invalid checksum with this mod enabled. I enabled it mid-play, just to be clear. Is that a problem? Just wanted to let you know. I like the vanilla version and was hoping to use it with CK2+ :steamhappy:
alexanderyou 8 Apr, 2018 @ 8:16am
Nice, thanks :P
BLKCandy  [author] 8 Apr, 2018 @ 3:56am
UPDATE! Childhood guardian and martial education guardian recieved massive overhaul.

- The childhood guardian now exclude LV4 education guardians. You need them to educate the older kids! The selection is also done by checking 'suitability' score instead of checking for traits seperately.

- Martial education now prefer guardian with fighter skill! This mean they check 3 factors instead of 2. I had to make another scoring system to support the more complex martial guardian selection logic.

The variable updates will run on start up! You no longer have to wait for the yearly pulse. You will experience performance drop in the first few months after startup on new update though.
