all of these up to date versions suck

For those interested in a more modern and up to date version of this great mod, check this mod : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3018652843&searchtext=

(Continued)

1. The AI will seek to fill the civic slot with whatever it thinks will give decent benefits, which totally breaks the whole point of all these empires being thematic. Example: in my latest game the Cistrenthic Cybernetic Consensus, which I assume are supposed to be Mechanists, showed up with Rational Consensus and Reanimated Armies.

2. The AI usually seeks to fill the slot pretty early, so it will kneecap its own expansion by spending 250 influence to reform government early on.

Also, the Sacred Commonwealth of Earth humans have no traits. Not sure why.

Do you plan on updating this mod anymore? If not, would you be okay with me creating an updated version and posting it to the workshop?

From what I can tell (though you can correct me if I'm wrong), this mod was last updated when "Origins" were still civics. There's nothing actually BROKEN, the mod is playable, but there are quite a few empires that only have one civic. I assume this is because the other civic slot was once filled by Mechanists, Syncretic Evolution, or something similar. Aside from the fact that the content is missing, this also causes two minor gameplay issues:

the flags all have black backgrounds on them
DaTroll 31 Oct, 2020 @ 3:24pm
It's prescripted empires, there is nothing to make your game not start.. It does start for me. What other mods are you running?
AlCord 31 Oct, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Does not work with Patch 2.8. Game won't start with it.
DaTroll 17 May, 2020 @ 11:32am
This one does not use the new origins. All Empires will get prosperous unification.
notNSANE 17 May, 2020 @ 11:21am
can someone tell me what's the actual issue of playing with this one on 2.7.x? Works fine when creating a new game, so I take it something bad happens mid game?
Axl Dread 13 May, 2020 @ 1:01pm
I don't ask you to update it everytime. If I can have it via pastebin once it'll be alright for me. There's so much differents empires that I took the habit to be able to choose which one can and which cannot and which one cannot spawn and I'm not sure I want to loose that possibility.

Anyway, if you don't want to, I won't force you (obviously) to. In the end I started myself to update JME's origins in my own way so it's not a big deal. Do as you wish, life is too short to allow me to be mad toward you for this.
DaTroll 13 May, 2020 @ 5:33am
I don't want to update a pastebin every time I'll update my mod. So thats not an option.

I can (and will) add a short guide how to transfer the mod files to the custom empire file later (today/tomorrow). You still need to subscribe to the "Required Items" even if you use them as custom empires and not via mod.

I would also prefer if you use my modpage for further discussion.
Axl Dread 12 May, 2020 @ 6:02pm
In that case, and since it's the method I prefer (for that granular control it allows on JME's empires), I'd be happy to be provided. :wftohappy:

But you have all time, I'm not rushing you because here (in France) it's 3am right now and I'm going to bed just after having posted this. :terminal:

Good night (or day whatever it is for you) and sweet times to you. :cleanfloppy: :steambored: :winter2019tiredbulb:
DaTroll 12 May, 2020 @ 12:10pm
Not yet. I can provide the files tough.
Axl Dread 12 May, 2020 @ 12:09pm
@DaTroll I'm so lazy that I have a question before checking out: Can we implement your JME's version you just released with the same alternative implementation method?

Anyway, thanks for your dedication.
DaTroll 12 May, 2020 @ 10:06am
I've released my version: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2049806134
Ed if you want it to be taken down... just let me know.
Axl Dread 9 Apr, 2020 @ 3:30am
@Tarballs I hope it is clear that I am a simple JME's user/Stellaris player and not affiliated in any way with Ed's work. To be honest I haven't finished to set origins for all of the JME empires yet, I made just a part of it. As I already said I keep this thread in my bookmarks and when I'll have finished updating all of my JME's version origins, I'll be glad to share the result here (if Ed's OK with that).

That being said, I see that DaTroll made it as it seems and I'd be curious to see if we selected the same origins for the same empires. BTW, Tarballs, feel free to ask him for his JME's version instead of mine since his is complete as he's told it.
KamiUnitY 8 Apr, 2020 @ 4:07pm
still waiting for this to update :(. dm me a link on discord if anyone has it updated. FELITH#8389
DaTroll 7 Apr, 2020 @ 11:26am
Hey Ed. I realy love your mod and have made a private version with the new origins with it. Is it OK with you if I publish it to the public? I'll add you as contributor if you want.
Tarballs 6 Apr, 2020 @ 2:49am
@Axl Dread please reconsider contacting this mods creator and releasing an updated pack. The original mod deserves it, and you also deserve some credit for keeping it alive!
Axl Dread 27 Mar, 2020 @ 4:27pm
@snoremega
One last time I assure you it's not as hard as it seems to do it alone. Sorry for not being able to upload a whole JME mod correction for now. At least I'm following this thread so I won't forget there's people interested in and I'll try to fullfil their attempts if I become able to do it one of these days.

If you decide to do it yourself, begin with the empires you like the more, play a game with them, do some more empires after, play another game with, etc. You'll see it can be fun.

One last thing: I'm not a modder myself and I won't officially publish anything based on EdFromEarth's work (or anyelse modder BTW) without his permission.
On a private basis maybe but that's all.
Axl Dread 27 Mar, 2020 @ 4:26pm
@snoremega
I'm going to make another "JME's origin selection" soon but once again I don't think I'll do all that remain at once. Let's say that if I'm done with all JME one day before you do it yourself, then, I'll look for a way to transmit it to anyone who could be interested but I'm tempted to tell you "Try to do it yourself". Honestly, just study a little the whole different origins and, one by one, read JME bios carefully. Each time (or almost) it's more or less evident to consider which origin fit the best.

BTW you'll see there is some of the JME which became unusable since Federations release, because one of their traits' cost has changed for example. In that cases just study how it is before changing anything, compare once again with its bio, and then correct the traits/ethics/etc... selection to stay as close as what it was before but legit in order to be usable.
Axl Dread 27 Mar, 2020 @ 4:23pm
@snoremega
To be honest I just started to update the JME's origin for myself since I'm aware of (excepted any change about) EdFromEarth being unavailable to do it by time lacking. Just started means I've done it for something like a dozen of JMEs or let's say 10% of them. I started a game and let the "JME's orgin definition" remaining work for later. That knowing I'm French and so, even if I translated a part of JME's bios in my language (a work I'm not done yet with), I have to read (and mentally translate) English bios carefully in order to select the most proper origin (always imo, EFE could consider it otherwise I don't know).
snoremega 24 Mar, 2020 @ 7:12pm
@AxlDread
Would you mind uploading the changes you did as a mod on google docs or something, giving full credit to EdFromEarth of course, and just as a temporary band-aid while we wait for him to update the mod to better fit Federations' new playstyle?
Axl Dread 18 Mar, 2020 @ 7:09am
Glad if I could help. :wftohappy:
Mc.turdle 18 Mar, 2020 @ 4:21am
@AxlDread Thanks for the tip! I will go through it and do the same thing.
Axl Dread 17 Mar, 2020 @ 7:22pm
@Mc.turdle
To answer, in short, Federations compatible? I'd say: Yes.

In long: It seems yes but unless EdFromEarth could find the time to update his empires,
all of them have the same default origin.

In my case I'm using the alternative implementation method which allow to edit this mod's empires like "user empires" can be. That way you can edit them like if they are yours.

With Federations released, I started to edit JME origins, one by one. By reading their bio (since they are pretty well written), it's not so hard to decide which origin fit well with each empire.

BTW some traits/ethics from some empires (not all of them fortunately) must be reselected in order to allow the corresponding empire to be usable again.
Mc.turdle 17 Mar, 2020 @ 5:01pm
compatible with federations?
Streb Wolf 15 Mar, 2020 @ 11:21pm
Will this mod be compatible or be updated for the origins feature in the upcoming update?
Fwootamala 8 Mar, 2020 @ 1:16pm
This is great work, and the easy-peasy pastebin option makes this fantastic work. Thanks!
EdFromEarth  [author] 29 Oct, 2019 @ 12:29pm
@patrick2160 None right now, but the Lithoids pack does look really cool! Sorry to say I don't have much time to keep up with modding these days.
Railgunner2160 22 Oct, 2019 @ 8:00am
So any plans for you to expand the mod to include Lithoids?
Axl Dread 4 Aug, 2019 @ 5:49am
@The Hammer If you don't already, use the alternative implementation method as described in the end of the mod description above.

That's what I do and like this all of the JME empires are considered like user empires by the game. And so you can edit spawn chances on JME empires exactly like you can do it with your own empires.
Fangvyr 3 Aug, 2019 @ 8:30pm
With this on, I seem to be unable to force my own custom empires to spawn. Is there something I can go in an edit to make that more likely?
Bûwere 29 Jun, 2019 @ 7:51am
The humans of the sacred Commonwealth of earth don't have traits.
EdFromEarth  [author] 22 Jun, 2019 @ 7:56am
No plan, really. I went with the a la carte arrangement so folks can pick and choose only what they wanted to mod and nothing more.
Neverminder 22 Jun, 2019 @ 4:31am
any plans on making like, a master version- "Just More?" i use quite a lot of your mods and plan to try the rest :)
Axl Dread 7 Jun, 2019 @ 3:57am
Is the pastebin version up to date please? :cleanfloppy:
Kevin Mulvaney 6 Jun, 2019 @ 5:42pm
Looks like a really great mod for adding some spice instead of suffering through the same old hegemonic imperialists. Any Space Elves in this perchance...?
Naraius 6 Jun, 2019 @ 5:33am
Works with 2.3 with some minor exceptions. Technocracy civic now requires Fanatic Materialist, so a couple Empires don't get loaded by the game because they were Technocrats but not Fanatics. All others work fine far as I can tell.
Lipe 5 Jun, 2019 @ 4:52pm
Great mod.

and i think that it works fine with the new update.

So, nothing to fix by now.
EdFromEarth  [author] 5 Jun, 2019 @ 3:11pm
I'm not 100% certain, but this should continue to work in 2.3. I may have time this weekend to inspect and update anything broken as necessary.
Crd 5 Jun, 2019 @ 10:45am
yeap w8ing update!
The Illusive Man 5 Jun, 2019 @ 9:31am
How about an update to 2.3.0?
Void Dragon 16 May, 2019 @ 6:36am
Awesome mod, dude. Easily the best one, since seeing same empires again and again adds so much to the experience.
EdFromEarth  [author] 5 May, 2019 @ 5:14am
It ought to be, but I haven't had time to keep up with every update. No promises at the moment.
Tyrgalon 5 Apr, 2019 @ 1:17pm
Any idea if this is 2.2.7 compatible?
EdFromEarth  [author] 17 Feb, 2019 @ 11:16am
Yep, should be.
Longprao 17 Feb, 2019 @ 10:29am
Is this compatible with More AI Personalities? Thanks.
Killerbannana_1 29 Jan, 2019 @ 4:31pm
yeah i know but its still ironic that they have DEMOCRATIC with a fascist symbol (thats supposed to be a substitute for bold) and yeah i like how you have considered the history, pretty cool, i also apreciate all the biographies for the species. read them all last night, thought the way you had a human hive mind was pretty cool too. quick question, is there any way that i can increase the chance that stellaris will generate a random empire instead of one of these? my games are basically only the pre-set empires and i ssince i know a lot of them from reading about them, it kinda makes it a little odd. a mod with the same concept but only human empires would be great too, so im always guarenteed to have humans, but nothing else. (i guess that wasnt a 'quick' question lol)

Anyway, Great mod! adds a lot of diversity and i quite enjoy it.
