Hey, I'd be interested in continuing your project on this map. I'm looking for a authentic american terrain map that I could host on a rp server. We have gotten the permission/ usage to be able to utilize the "a3pl framework" As well as other mods. I would be very interested to see what we could achieve on your map.

I'm still out here just got back from a 23 day run in Okanagan-Wenatchee, still fighting fires, I still even think about picking this project back up some day but I don't know if I'd even remember how to mod for arma it's been so long, glad you enjoy the mod

The airfield was not designed off of any particular airport and if I had time to redo it I'd make the taxiway a bit differently

Its going ok, I mostly focused on learning the terrain API, I have a basic terrain generator that is pretty good but I keep getting called to wildfires and I'm working all the time so I haven't gotten a lot done since last year :steamfacepalm:

Thanks Kieran, I looked into getting it into DayZ SA and I would have had to completely redo the roads, but also I just don't have time right now. If you find a qualified person though, who knows how to do it, I would consider sending the source files to them

Hey everyone, thanks for the kind comments, I still look back at this mod and wish I had time to work on it and "finish" it but I'm just too busy IRL, I'm married and I have to travel a lot for work. Arma 3 terrain modding is hard! I hope you all enjoy it for what it's worth.

I was really hoping this would have been a terrain map of Hill AFB and the outlying cities, but it really shows how much of Utah is just a big hole in the ground with some beautiful mountains. :steamhappy:

Possibly a terrain mod could cause a conflict, do you have a lot of other mods loaded? Try loading just the terrain and the dependency mods and let me know

When it comes to the mod dependencies, I wasn't worried about performance, but if someone removed a mod from the steam workshop that my mod was dependent on, my mod would be broken and nobody could play it.

Originally I had hoped to use 100% custom 3d assets in my terrain but that proved to be very unrealistic time wise. Structures aren't beyond my skill level but I was already doing so many other things, making the terrain itself and editing the configs. I did prototype one mobile home which is in the L4z0r_utah_objects mod... you can find it in the editor, and I think other than AI pathing it's pretty much complete. I was getting ready to replace some of the houses with these when I decided I had no more time to work on this project (2 years in!) I also wanted to also do a rural high school, a tribal center, a casino, and some other things too, but again, I just ran out of time.

and most people who run mods go with many mods, adding a building pack for atmosphere wouldn't hurt performance in the long run

I've just noticed alot of good USA terrains out there and many use the cup and vanilla buildings, part of the reason I slowed down playing arma is the lack of variety in structures in mod terrains, often I see the same mediterranian buildings in locations like new york and the florida keys. The terrain looks beautiful but the buildings completely lose the utah feel.

Thanks Doggo, I wanted to keep this mod somewhat "Lightwheight" and not have too many dependencies which is why I didn't incorporate more mods, but I know the buildings you're talking about and there's room to place them down for mission makers etc
