Just FYI for anyone who subscribed to this thread and requested a 1:1 scale, I published it last night as a new item on the workshop. It's a lot better, check it out! :)

Great job! An iconic example of a truly stupid kind of colonial architecture. Can't have a convincing Sydney without it.

Not sure why it's flagging that one but not the other twitter link, but it's legit ^_^

Hi Stevie, thanks! Aiming to be done with the 1:1 this weekend (https://twitter.com/bobsymay/status/1000737271086116864?s=19) . White tower is the High Interest Tower from the vanilla game, used it for height comparison.
I'd like to try a Sydney vehicle next, so I have a draft mesh of the older T set (Tangara) trains to pick up after this.

Hi Robert, great work! Hope to see a 1:1 version soon. Also, what building is that white tower in your screen shots? And, what's next on your list?

Thanks! I have an improved and 1:1 model built now, just taking a while to sort out the texture map layout :)

I'll like to see a 1:1 version released seperately too :D as a Sydneysider I love having this building in my cities!! Thanks for your work!

Chifley has an interesting, non-rectangular footprint that'll make it hard to faithfully reproduce as an asset, but it's a nice building, I'll add it to my list!

Cool, thanks! I'll push the model to both scales then, with tweaks to mind the height of levels separately.

@Robert, People tend to release separate versions :-)

Maybe not the place to ask, but if I made a 1:1, should I publish it separately or overwrite this one? It would change the footprint from 4x7 to 5x9, and I'm not sure what that does to already built structures.. what's the etiquette? I'll check forums.. I am refining the model.

Huh, for some reason I had gotten the impression you couldn't go above 2048, but I just checked and found a building using 4096 :O
good to know!

Maybe it would be easier to just expand the texture size? Simtropolis may have an informed answer (unlike me), but looking forward to your next projects!

FINALLY!! I HAVE BEEN AWAITING THIS SINCE THE DAY I DISCOVERED MY LIFE!!!
Robert  [author] 25 Apr, 2018 @ 9:04pm
The texture size is 2048x2048, I'll add it to the description. I agree about the back texture being intended for a smaller wall.. was kind of rushed there. Basically it's a really cramped map to fit everything in, even with stacking faces, mirroring and subdividing. One thing I should look into if I can revisit this is how sub-buildings work.. if I could stack the tower as a sub-building on top they could both get a big resolution boost.

A great addition! It may be good to also post the texture size detail in the description. My one minor gripe is that I think the concrete texture in the back isn't the right scale, it looks like there is 10-15cm chunks missing. I don't think it's enough of an issue to update though. I can definitely feel you not really wanting to add a 1:1 scale, but I don't think it would be out of place either

Amazing first model for Cities: Skylines, thank you so much for bringing this into the workshop! Amazing effort

I built the mesh in Blender at 1:10, but exported at 1:1.25 only because when I was testing out the initial footprint it seemed to fit best with surrounding growables in a decent o/hdc area, where the mall/office was about as tall as normal towers. At 309m, 1:1 looks weirdly large next to other C:S buildings. I would only need to rebalance the shopfront textures so that the doors don't look comically tall, I suppose.

I'm keen to try out something else in the short term, but I'm not opposed to setting a 1:1 up. (In the meantime if you don't mind the doors thing you could just use this as a template for a new asset and enter 1.25 as the scale) :)
