I've downloaded another version of this model from 3dwarehouse and been able to reduce the triangle count to 8K, I plan on releasing that version once I've done some more work.

This is a good model but the texture lets it down as well as the triangle count.

I understand the 3D Modeler struggle. I can accept 10 bad assets. I can help if needed. Everybody needs to fail to be able to learn. But if you think after months of uploading this stuff, this is what asset creation is and no improvement is possible, you might reconsider if this is for you.

In the other hand, if you are learning 3D, make yourself a favor and look for help, tutorials, whatever, don't pick the easiest way, because that's the shittiest way.

In the other hand, this "creator" spent half a year downloading already made 3D models from sites (without any original source or recognition to original creator), applying to them one of the worst automated texture processes you can use for this and uploading them, without even bothering to check if it has too many geometry, if the textures are fine... Not a single improvement, as you can see in this one, where you have a 3K texture of pure flat colors and a lot of circles made of faces, thus just screwing even more the performance. As I previously said,after +140 assets there was not a single sign of improvement, just relying on "I'm noob". This is what I call lazyness and a complete lack of will to even look for a basic tutorial.

@Homusubi (1/3) I know it's hard, you think everyone is a master after a few hours? Everyone here started from somewhere, probably bad shit. I uploaded my first asset years ago, those were deleted because in a few months I realized the quality was worse than poor. And before that, I spent months trying to even understand how to upload something. The main problem was, I knew this was an option, one of the worst ones, that's why I said "ok, I need something else, I can't upload this kind of crap wihtout visible textures and way too heavy". So I started doing assets, uploading them, seeing other creators work, learning, improving... After 20 assets I was happy because I finally could say "This is acceptable".

As someone who has spent the last two weeks struggling with 3D models, it's hard, OK? Lay off the author, people. This looks like a decent enough model of the Diet Building to me, despite the simple texture. There's no need to be snobbish.

Thanks everyone. Actually, optimizing was not my interesting. because it was good that I make asset that I need or want. and I couldn't feel why I have to consider? it works no problem! Let's think on somebody want to use the building but the building is not exist on asset! it can be good present for them. It was all. But I think I have to consider optimizing if I make public one. I will make assets more cautious. Thanks. :steamhappy:

There's room for improvement, but after +100 assets with the same problem, looks like there is no will to improve. This is a ripped asset from 3DWarehouse (no credits also to original building). Looking at this model shows that it's lacking all 3D knowledge, it was just run over an automated conversion to game without caring about any detail at all. Textures are plain colors. Plain. This has a 4K texture for what it can be done with 2x2 pixels. And 50k tris who come from those circles fully modeled (because in the original model that was a good solution, but NOT in game).

This asset is just another way to show how to not do stuff. Because 141 before weren't enough examples.

Well I guess that still will be helpful to some, although there could definitely be more work involved I agree. Anyway, the tri and texture issues definitely pinpoint some room for improvement :)

@titouan.launay Yeah, but if you download an asset from sketchup ( https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/14c0e6b69c8077ed405653afad42cbe9/The-National-Diet-Building ) and can't even optimize a premade model while using the excuse "I'm noob." I don't really think there's any more help that can be offered.

I like it ! I can definitely understand large texture size and tri count if you are unfamiliar with UV mapping in general, it is quite hard to optimize it ! Keep it up, I think it looks great nonetheless. @Gèze there is nothing wrong with saying that this asset could indeed be better. However you're being rude in your attitude. No problems giving advices and links to tutorials, and pointing the issues out, as long as you are helpful. There are no standards in this workshop at all, this is community created content and everyone is welcome to participate, and this asset although it has issues is definitely far from shitty. All in all, be helpful or uplifting, or be quiet. Take these as words from a French guy to another one. Have a nice day btw ;)

@der_transporteur I'm not condescending. If you have over 100 assets that share the same quality problems, maybe it's time to stop posting and reflect over the fact that maybe you are indeed doing something wrong.
There's plenty of asset creation tutorials online and they don't bite. Instead of saying "I'm noob" learn how to be better and then post stuff. I know people who were complete noobs at making assets and improved greatly after posting 3-4 assets. And why? Because they saw that their creations don't meet the standards that other creators set for the workshop content. That's all.

You're baking textures on the main model, aren't you? You do realise that it turns the texture into a completely useless mess with no quality at all? This texture looks like it's 128x128.
LOD textures can/should be baked depending on how the main model is done, but I have no idea why you'd bake textures on the main model too.

Why on earth does this have 50k triangles.... WHERE ON EARTH IS THE 3K TEXTURE? Those windows are pitch black and the walls are literally solid gray... like... WHAT.
