Nice one, especially the method used to get the first cube

I don't know. I haven't played my maps in years. I know they all suck. I just wasn't thinking with portals.

Yes, Buddy, this is a remake of your Lab Games 1 (as noted in the description). In fact, you left a comment about this puzzle almost 5 years ago. LOL. So what did you think about the modification the 2nd time around. (I know that some of the solutions were a bit... how to put it...unique...ish compared to your original puzzle.)

This is a copy of my map.

Cool! I did not think of that. I think I just leave that in as is. (It is "broken" after all.)

Thanks for another fantastic puzzle, MAD.
I did another way to get the 1st cube:
I prevented the cube from falling down and placed it on the edge at the wall-side with the funnel, then climbed up the vertical button with the funnel, placed portals to grab the cube.

Thanks to the hints below ;-) Another one of Mad Fool's chambers down. Thumbs up on this one!

I solved it thinking I was definitely going at it wrong. I was sure there had to be a different way that was easier. After completing, I read the comments and what do you know. I wasn't too far off base. I did some unconventional moves but I see now that's what's required. The first cube was hard but for some reason I intuitively used Newton's law like you said. The second cube was a cinch but how to rescue the first. Unlike you advised, I used the second cube to knock the first one off the button. After that it was just a matter of seeing and doing what was necessary to get the last two. My finish. Thanks for a very good puzzle. Had great fun solving.

Useless map? I am not sure if I follow. If you mean unsolvable, then no-- there is a solution. Hint are in comments below. If you need more help, just ask.

Useless map?

The MAD Fool
under the grate cube grab exploit fixed.
the intended sollution is great :)
a minor thing,
but I would suggest making the 2nd portable area behind the grating non-portable.
as it seems like something left over from a previous idea.
& serves no good purpose.
& I see now why blocking the pedestal button is a good idea.
please play my map:

I have just done a major update to it, & would like some feedback.
ps. I was asked to put the player in danger, so F6 quicksave is recomended.

The under the grate cube grab should be a little harder to do now, if not imposible. To answer Mood's question, the panels block the pedesta button so that you cannot respawn the cube, they force you to rescue it some how.

The MAD Fool
as you say "brocken"
if you had not said it, I would have had a lot of trouble with this map.
but as you did say it. the unothodox sollutions are exeptable.
I read the comments about getting the 1st cube.
I used the funel to pin it to the gratting, then grabed it.
I pulled it under the graiting. it got a bit wet, but survived.

I did not understand the panels blocking the pedestal button ?
keeping the title in mind, while playing.
I found it intuative, logical, challenging, but not hard.
had to think about it every now & then.
but it flowed very well.
good fun & thumbs up as usual :)

Very good. Had to re-acquire the second cube after I botched the rescue mission after the fourth but fair enough.

Thank you for the hint! After I read the hint and did what I needed to do to recover the first cube, I was able to (after a bit of trial and error) complete the rest of the puzzle! I voted up on this map - it definitely makes you think with portals.
The MAD Fool  [author] 12 Apr, 2013 @ 8:08am
Hey Jing, don't despair, you are making very good progress! However another hint might be in order: After getting the 2nd cube, clibming will be required to rescue the 1st cube
If the hint was not enough and you are still stuck: Place a portal in the 1st cube's room. Place the 2nd cube on the cube button next to the cube button on the wall. (You can also place the cube on the corner edge of the button.) Jump from the cube to the wall button and jump up till you are at the white wall.
If you need any more hint/solutions, just ask :)

I've gotten two cubes but now I'm stuck... I have nowhere to go from what I'm up to and one of my cubes is stuck in the room that deactivates the lasers blocking the second cube... because of lasers! I can't find a way to get to the other side of the room down the corridor.
The MAD Fool  [author] 11 Apr, 2013 @ 5:36pm
Yes! There is. If you like, here is hint #1: At the 1st pedestal keep in mind Newton's 1st Law of Motion ...objects in motion tend to remain in motion.
If you are too frustrated, here is the spoiler on how to get the 1st cube: Keep Newton's law in mind. Open a portal on the tractor beam an one across from where the cube drops about 1/4 the way up. Drop the cube and just before the cube hits the wall open a portal in front of it so that the cube can drop through. It take a bit of practice.
If you get stuck and want more hints/solutions, just ask :)

Is there a solution to beating it? I cant seem to find a way to get into any of the rooms or finding the first cube I can actually access to.
