Yeah, there is updated version of your mod in DS workshop. It don’t conflict with the craft from chest feature of the base game, but sadly for controller player open casket drop on the ground would become close instantly. Therefore, I would still use your mod instead, since I have a work around solution for quickly put items into and out of the casket.
1 Without your mod, this feature work.
2 With your mod, this feature won’t work.
3 With your mod and Craft from Chest mod, this feature work but your mod’s feature won’t work, that is, I can’t consume material from casket while crafting and holding casket in my inventory.
To be honest, I'm not going to touch this old sh*tty code 😅 as long as it works for my specific playstyle (have one casket in my inventory and use chests only for equipment to store).
But the code is open source, so feel free to check it out. And there also may be other versions of this mod from other modders that might work better and are still supported.
In DST version, casket behave like a portable chest. I can put it donw and press A/B to open it. In DS version, I can only pick it up from ground but not open it while it is in the ground.
This chest like behavior is very important for controller player, because I can press ⬅ from D pad to quickly put items from my inventory into the casket, while the casket is open and on the ground. Without this behavior, I have to move the items from my inventory into the casket slot by slot.

I really miss the portable chest behavior from DST version of this mod.
When you open a casket and try to put it into itself, game will crash.

you can try to add this block https://www.codepile.net/pile/kO89LGqg into ...\Steam\steamapps\common\dont_starve\mods\workshop-1803281169\modmain.lua at line 79. not sure if it will fix the problem. and you are not update save! the author of the mods seems quiet active so maybe you ask him otherwise.
So with that in mind, what entity/classification is this item under? Is it possible for something to be changed in order to make them perfectly compatible, or would the other mod simply need to include the Casket's unique class?
No worries if you don't feel like looking into it! This isn't a dire need, just hoping to obtain ultimate resource gathering efficiency lmao
to remove the complete bottom line you could try to change ...\Steam\steamapps\common\dont_starve\mods\local_casket\scripts\prefabs\casket.lua in line 16 from 2 to 1. not sure if there are sideeffects ...
...also, another thing. i use "RPG HUD" before i got this. the tool/amulet/backpack/hat/armor slots cover the 5 slots on the bottom middle section. i can still access both slots without any issue. i just put a single bs item in each slot. but is there anyway i can easily edit the scripts for myself to turn off those 5 slots? or even the whole bottom row.

since you cannot leave on the ground and open/close like a normal container (or am i missing something??)....is there a way to make the casket auto close after "x time" or if i ext "paused manage inventory" option?? or maybe some hotkey i could press...unsure if the coding would allow this or easy to do. sometimes i get annoyed having to go all the way back to the casket in my inventory to close. small thing, only curious. probably more trouble than it is worth

In both cases it is the the first action, so just hover with your mouse or select with controller and there is a action "open".
If you drop it to the ground, it can be opened like a chest.
maybe i find a co-modder to add all functionts to the client. at least it is a portable chest if you play with others. if you play alone without caves (like me) you will notice no difference to this single player mod.
