Ha! This is a really cool chamber. I know it’s not your original, but this is one of my favorites from you. Just the right difficulty, and very clever. Loved trying a few different things and eventually finding the solution. It’s a good variation on the classic laser/fizzler type with a couple other added elements to spice things up.
Difficulty: 5/10
Enjoyed: 8/10
My playthrough https://youtu.be/wgo42KH9U4c
My solution: demo solution [www.dropbox.com]
I used 8 portals.

I don't think it's necessary to patch your unintended solution since you said you needed to do it quickly.
There's technically 2x2=4 different ways of doing the part near the end: position the cube either by the gel dropper or by the laser emitter and aim it at either catcher before going back to the bridge area
As I do all too often, I did the first part of this map the hard way before seeing/doing it the easy
way in the video.
In my blind run, I stood next to the gel dropper with the cube and laser and
(very, very quickly) manually placed the cube to disable the fizzler then rapidly fired two
portals (while the gel was still falling) to get gel on the first location.
