@Bokune haven't tried yet but this should be compatible with every version of stellaris until Paradox decides to update the values for ship exp
Bokune 6 Apr, 2019 @ 9:33am

I conquer them by taking them has "Tributary" and by friendly action to take them has "Vassal" he he

I don’t like having a popup at gamestart, asking what a mod should do, because it can cause problems in MP games. Some of the players might not pay attention to which mods are and aren’t used, and might not understand that the choice the popup window prompts them to make affects all players. The player might just click at random to make the window go away and so could randomly select an extreme value, hurting the gameplay experience for everyone.
Hyperion 10 Aug, 2018 @ 10:43am
yo update this!
Sunarian 6 Aug, 2018 @ 6:07pm
Instead of suggesting a specific amount, is it possible to have an event or policy to set the required experience to, for example, either 2, 3, 5, or 10x the current rate set for this mod? Seems like the fine tuning is probably specific to most player's specific playstyle so maybe a decent solution.

Also as a request, can you explain how the Fleet Academy and other ship exp buildings/modules affect rank experience in the mod description?

I really like this mod, but I'd prefer if the times to reach each rank were from three to five times this mod's current duration. I base this on a year equalling 8760 hours, and it supposedly taking 10,000 continual hours for the "average" human being to master any skill. I figure that starship combat is an especially demanding skill, and not every single person on a crew will be continuously active--and personnel will likely transfer in and out, over time, as well.

@rdan5tr4n63r this mod only changes the experience that ships get so yes
dan5tr4n63r 17 Jul, 2018 @ 2:35am
Is it compatible with BetterCheats...i am reffering to the policy and edicts for leaders ...as that mod has a big boost to leaders upgrade in skill level

update
Iron knight Fe 20 Jun, 2018 @ 6:54pm
and mabye have a small mantanece cost incese for the `4th and/or 5th rank to reprizent a ship that has bin thro the blender tomany times and crew pay rise / promotions
Iron knight Fe 20 Jun, 2018 @ 6:41pm
and maybe bump both of them up to a 5 rank sistem and make an event that will max out / GIVE lots of exp at the start of the game eg day 1 `~5 so that fallens / space monsters / pirerats that have probibly Bin in like a millon battles befor actuly have exp to reprizent that fact
Iron knight Fe 20 Jun, 2018 @ 6:33pm
troops have ranks to any plans on fixing those
Elite:Harmless 13 Jun, 2018 @ 2:02am
Man I don't even know there is a rank system in Stellaris
Target  [author] 11 Jun, 2018 @ 8:16am
@grz34998 yes
grz34998 10 Jun, 2018 @ 8:00am
Does this work when loaded mid game?
SoulTechnology 6 Jun, 2018 @ 3:45pm
imean i hinted that this might be a thing since theres a starbase module that grants 100xp at start of a ships life but never knew how much experience actually ment anything.
Sky 6 Jun, 2018 @ 9:00am
Leaving aside how long it takes to get a ship rank...
I didn't even know ship ranking existed.

My ships holding experience end up getting melted, Or my wars end before any ship reaches a rank.
Target  [author] 6 Jun, 2018 @ 1:05am
@Axonum yes I use NSC myself, NSC doesn't edit the base ship exp stats. @dankmemes0723 it only works with ships. I haven't looked at armies but the exp system for armies seems to work fine. Btw you like that meme?
JoustingDuck 5 Jun, 2018 @ 11:51pm
Does this work with armies as well?
perl 5 Jun, 2018 @ 8:13pm
This works with NSC right? NSC adds a new ship component that increases ship EXP gain.
Target  [author] 5 Jun, 2018 @ 5:55pm
@AlphaAsh thanks for telling me. And that really sucks because I really wanted to add some new ranks haha
Artificial Gravitas 5 Jun, 2018 @ 8:26am
Dear Blorg, this was needed, thanks
AlphaAsh 5 Jun, 2018 @ 1:33am
No. Ships have had a rank since 1.0.
Frxstbite 909 4 Jun, 2018 @ 10:30pm
Imma be honest, I never even realized ships had an Experience system.
Rendarg 4 Jun, 2018 @ 6:51pm
@Jason
Yes, since Update 2.0, almost 4 months ago. I guess you haven't played for a while ^^
Jason 4 Jun, 2018 @ 4:41pm
wait ships have rank now?

AlphaAsh 4 Jun, 2018 @ 3:01am
@Walmart The experience ranks are hard-coded, yep. Hence why you can only tinker in defines.
AlphaAsh 4 Jun, 2018 @ 2:55am
NShip = {
SHIP_EXP_GAIN_COMBAT = 10.0 # Gained each day ship is in combat
SHIP_EXP_EXPERIENCED = 200 # Amount of exp to reach experienced rank
SHIP_EXP_VETERAN = 1000 # Amount of exp to reach veteran rank
SHIP_EXP_ELITE = 3600 # Amount of exp to reach elite rank
}
AlphaAsh 4 Jun, 2018 @ 2:54am
@Graptharr It's some defines over-rides. No vanilla files are modified.
AlphaAsh 4 Jun, 2018 @ 2:50am
@kgptzac The upgrade issue isn't limited to rank. It resets experience. Including what the Fleet Academy gives you, and any other kind of stat boost that a shipyard applies to constructed ships. This issue has been with the game since 1.0 and is, I believe, one of the reasons why strategic resource starbase modules were removed from vanilla. Complain to PDX - this nonsense should have been fixed.
@Walmart Nice mod. Thank you.
Graptharr 3 Jun, 2018 @ 11:56pm
If you're going to comment on the mod's compatibility, why don't you list what vanilla files you edit and/or overwrite. Edits work MUCH better for compatibility than overwrite.
Archturis 2 Jun, 2018 @ 7:27pm
Yeah i always thought it was stupid how it went up by 1 exp per day and not something like value of ships destroyed or just lower amount of exp need to become elite. Ive had Veteran ships before, and im pretty sure it used to be 10k exp needed to get Elite, lol. But usually you would start to lose your vet ships before they got the next level. At some point they did fix the losing level on upgrade though, it was about a week after veterancy was added in.

But anyway, thanks for the mod, was hoping for something like this to get levels easier for ships.
Zell 1 Jun, 2018 @ 5:13pm
I did not know veteren wasn't max rank. Or that it reset on upgrading ships. I do feel x10 is a tad much of a multiplier, x3 to x5 may be a bit more balanced, as I worry about NPC ship swarms, but this is a good start!
kgptzac 31 May, 2018 @ 11:26am
I don't know which is more ridiculous. The vanilla requirement of 30 years of combat to get to Elite rank, or the fact that UPGRADING SHIPS CAUSING THEM TO LOSE RANK wtfwtfwtf

But yeah thanks for trying to fix at least one of PDX's stupidities... but as someone who likes to upgrade ship often, i'll just ignore the entire ship exp system -_-
Target  [author] 31 May, 2018 @ 7:32am
@NewAgeKid52 Actually this mod gives 10 experience per day of combat instead of 1. So you actually need 1000 experience to get to "Veteran", which is 100 days. So Fleet Academy only gets you halfway to "Experienced", and you still need another 10 days of combat to get to "Experienced"
NewAgeKid52 31 May, 2018 @ 7:13am
Do you think it would be good to have experienced rank be 100 days, then veteran be maybe 250 days? It seems quite wierd to have veteran be 100 days, because the Fleet Academy gives 100 experience to ships built there.
The Erubian Warlord 31 May, 2018 @ 6:24am
neat
Target  [author] 31 May, 2018 @ 6:20am
@The Erubian Warlord Yeah 100%. All it does it change the amount of experience needed to get to a certain rank. So if your ship had 3600 exp before it will still have 3600 exp now except it will be "Elite" instead of "Veteran"
The Erubian Warlord 31 May, 2018 @ 6:11am
is this save compatible
moonandstar 31 May, 2018 @ 4:13am
Wow. THanks for this fix. 30 years is just retarded.
