Same for cat mastery since you can improve them with a point only once, and the bonus it provides is often unnecessary to the point where if you were to spend gold for this, it most certainly would have been better to keep it for something else, like unlocking an actual category
I mean, if a class desperately needs cat points for their build, going Cornac for the extra point at the start of the run would probably be a better choice
Cat points can be used to improve existing category mastery rating by .20.
And they can also be used to get more infusion slots.
Prodigies are another matter though. The way I see it, you still have to complete the requirements for unlocking them, and then are they really worth it ? As you've said, a randart is 4k gold, and to me they can be far more valuable to a character than a prodigy they didn't even need at first
So yeah, I can see why you'd think of it as a cheat addon, but IMO the fact you have to pay a somewhat hefty cost (I did fix them arbitrarily though) and not just press a button to get those points kinda makes that a moot point
T5 randart of your choice of item type is 4k. Cat and prodigy points are worth a LOT more than a randart.
