You only need to activate one. Custom paints support is for gloves skinned with RNG, and default is just a single texture gloves (standard color).
and they are in conflict, is...this normal? or should i only activate 1?
Thanks for your answer, I'll always add you to credits at the description.
You have all permission that you need, I made this addon with support of a lot others moders so i can't reclaim for copyright. All my addons work is creative commons license.
Can i ask your permission to make a standalone glove mods based on yours?
I mean, I want to make every gloves type as single addon for all survivors. The reason for this is optimisation, your custom paints support and default textures is 350+ Mb of content, so I can optimize it.
Whether it's yes or no, please respond.
You want to leave all survivors with light skin tone, right? As I said before, if you are trying to do everything in the same tone, you need to make sure that every SMD file, for each survivor, points to the correct texture and that you are not using any conflicting addons at the same time.
Ex:
If you are making your own version of this addons, and the VPK archive contains "models" and "materials" you need disable the "Custom Paint Support" or "Default Texture Support", because these addons are the materials files for arms and gloves textures and if you followed the steps to make them compatible with custom survivors in the discussion topic, so my addon will have higher priority than yours, cause as textures included in it will load first than your package.
Have it three forms to change this: one > rename the UV Map with 3D editor / two > rename UV Map with Notepad ++ editor / three > replace the texture in materials folder for another arms what have light skin like Bill, Nick, Ellis or Francis.
If you just want to change the color of yours arms and don't want to have so much work, just browse to materials folder, copy the file “v_model_francis_arms.vtf” paste in Desktop and change the name of file to “v_model_louis_arms”, copy the file again and replace for the same in materials folder.
NOTE: In doing so all models that carry the texture of Louis's arms (dark skin) had become light skinned. So if you want to use different skin tones you must change the name of the UV Map.
I got another question though.. how do I change the skin tones of the Sporty Gloves?
I did the whole survivor replacement but they all seem to take Louis's dark skin tone arm.
This problem usually occurs because of the pose of the model. You are trying to make a version of each glove and arms for each survivor, right? If so, a correct way would be to use the crowbar tool and compiling the model one for one, just change the survivor name in QC file.
Example:
in the line: $modelname "weapons\arms\v_arms_gambler_new.mdl" you will change just the end of them to specify what survivor you want the model replace.
Where is "v_arms_gambler_new.mdl" you will replace the “gambler” for the other survivor.
Gambler = Nick
Coach = Coach
Producer = Rochelle
Mechanic = Ellis
Francis = himself
Louis = himself
Bill = himself
Zoey = herself
NOTE: For L4D1 survivors the correctly line is "v_arms_francis.mdl" just only the survivors of L4D2 have the "new" in the line. Don't forget that, otherwise the model don't will replace.
For some reason, the method (the one you've listed below) doesn't seem to work for me now..
especially for the bare arms..
I don't know what am I doing wrong but for some reasons the glove and the arms are invisible... I don't know if the texture's or the model's the issue but it seems that they dont appear on screen at all..
Do you know how to fix this?
Thanks! You've been very helpful.
where is: v_arms_bill.dx90.vtx
v_arms_bill.mdl
v_arms_bill.vvd
create a copy
replace the copy name to: v_arms_zoey.dx90.vtx
v_arms_zoey.mdl
v_arms_zoey.vvd
Do this with all survivors names and finish. Detail all survivors will have the same arm and glove accourding the original file.
And yes, I wanted to make it apply to all survivors.
Is there a way to do so? Like the ones you've made before.. (Sporty, Hand Wrap, Moto, Hydra)
Under development.
