This mod is broken. I noticed the fire around infected have a noticeable cut off. When you blow up barrels, there are weird fire fx that just float around in slow motion.

I'm not seeing exactly why that's an issue, unfortunately. Just going to hope it isn't too big of an issue in other maps (outside of Last Stand)...

I never knew they changed the fire, but now that I've seen it wow it looks like dogshit in L4D2.

great mod but sadly in conflicts with some mods such as "Motion Blur Remover" and any mod that changes the laser sights. Still, the effect is very nice so I opted to remove those other mods.

so for example, if you renamed the VTF to fire_l4d1_attempt4 (keeping the .vtf extension), then the $basetexture line would be
$basetexture "particle/fire_burning_character/fire_l4d1_attempt4"

Okay, L4D2 jank requires you to rename the VTF to something else, then open the VMTs in a text editor and change the base texture path in there as well
(just change the name of the second 'fire_burning_character' in $basetexture to whatever you renamed the VTF to)
because for whatever reason add-ons aren't able to replace the actual texture

should actually work afterwards once and for all

yeah you put it in the particles folder
might want to create materials/particle/fire_burning_character in the mod (in it's own folder separate from particles) and put the vtf/vmt files there
so that it actually replaces the fire textures

I believe the reason the fire looks glitchy is because you forgot to include L4D1's fire_burning_character folder in it's particle folder. Copied that over to my game and it looks correct now.

looks goofy and glitchy asf for me for some reason. Like squares of fire texture or something I don't know how to explain it, like yeah the L4D1 textures are there, but the physics or the way they move isn't,

The mod thumbnail can be changed. I've updated tons of my mods images. If you can't change it through the workshop manager, you can do it through workshop folder located in l4d2/bin/workshop_manager or something else. just make sure it fits the proper dimensions.

@Seems but it does, in fact, looks cartoonish. It has this very unrealistic solid dark orange fire. It's literally the one and only cartoonish looking thing in l4d1.
